irenicspc002 brings us two new tracks by bas amro. best known for his releases on freerange records and wolfskuil records. for this ep he takes an unusual straight-forward approach. chained is a driving dub track with beautiful chords. while nearing leans towards the deeper side of the techno spectrum. with both tracks being very suitable for the dancefloor. the b-side finds label boss roger gerressen changing pace. delivering a remix for the early hours.
dominik eulberg’s second ep on his label apus apus features the track “roter gitterling“ (eng. basket stinkhorn / red cage) on the a side and „tintenfischpilz“ (engl. octopus stinkhorn / devil s fingers) on the flip side. a. roter gitterling the fleshy red cage of this kind of mushroom reminds of a merging of an upside down shopping string bag and an alien. not allowing any objection. the track strides forward with determination towards a musical interpretation of this strange being. a fulminant kick drum counteracts in a very prosaic way the bitter-sweet pads. in a very narrative fashion the track gathers speed and flocks diverse soundscapes and disembogues in a break of harmonical expanse. conciliatory and in a hedonistic way the bass drum eventually stitches together what belongs to each other. b. tintenfischpilz this bizarre looking extraterrestrial mushroom evokes at first glance the image of a dead octopus or radioactive vegetable. as in a science fiction movie four to six tentacles sprout and raise out of a common stinkhorn and later spread into a star shape look. in an unparalleled manner this stunning progression is executed musically by eulberg with a high degree of elaboration. all done with elegant blend of continuous progression and permanent change the track wreathes itself towards heaven. whereas fragmented melody artifacts pour into the shape of a miraculous emergence.
a newcomer on the label’s lineups. mary delivers a distinctive balancing act between bleepy ambient listening and free thinking. heart-rending. dancefloor material. river is an invitation extended to listeners to lose themselves in sound with light tones. graceful harmonics. and smart rhythms. running through idm inflexions. ambient sound baths and low-key house hypnotics. it’s music that seems to have fallen out of time. river is an invitation extended to listeners to lose themselves in sound with light tones. graceful harmonics. and smart rhythms. running through idm inflexions. ambient sound baths and low-key house hypnotics. its music that seems to have fallen out of time.
exit safe mode. a project by the visionary margus lö...ve. establishing himself in estonian technoid music. has converged its sonic baggage into the newly released debut album immerse. the spheres created and recorded during 2008-2017 are travelling in ambient landscapes. while deserving to be called genuine contemporary music for its clarity of thought and musical focus. these eight themes are reminiscent of the dubstep-ish flows of lö...ve’s earlier projects l-ow and 1derl& that are giving way to more idiosyncratic lines. the depth of sound manipulations allows one to discover tones of life in the synthetic analog worlds and provides a body-forsaking sideview to the interpretations of stringed instruments. the created sonorous state of immerse serves as an introduction to more rhythmic future affairs of exit safe mode

after a year’s hiatus optimo music disco plates returns with the first of several planned releases.
first up is long time friend phil kieran with an ep made specifically with optimo in mind. it has been tried and tested over recent months and more than ticks all our boxes. we feel confident it will tick yours too.
phil says “the ep was recorded in my house and made up of mostly live percussion performed live by thomas tettey annang. originally from ghana. he moved to belfast some years ago. it just so happens his wife is a close friend of my sisters and that was the first introduction. thomas now runs -releasing rhythms” here in belfast teaching drum classes.
we used a wide selection of traditional african drums that all have their own name. each one has a style and a sound. the rhythms used in this record would stem back to south american rhythms but using african drums. this was a sound and rhythm that influenced early post punk records in new york and still has an influence on dance music today.”

after last year s stellar ep on l.i.e.s. records. veteran. brooklyn-based producer and dj jake reif (savage hymn. upsetting keys) continues to make waves with his device control brand. the first side of the new ep2 begins with silhouettes: a robotic. techno-funk work out with a nasty kick drum. swirling modular sounds and a timothy leary inspired vocoded vocal. an instrumental version has been included for selectors who prefer tracks to songs. on the flip. joystuck continues the aural assault with a slightly more stripped-back approach. hard-hitting metallic percussion and screaming. alien-esque synth bleeps are all that s necessary here to decimate a dance-floor. finally. divisive rounds out the ep with a stomping vengeance. its jacking claps and dissonant harmonics have been carefully designed to deliver a sonic gut-punch. taking no prisoners when played on a club system
exile is the next level basecamp of johannes heil and markus suckut. we at exile know that it is nonsense to write anything about music. because music can only be translated by listeners ear. so close your eyes. dont speak. dont think. just listen..... we are exile. mastering and cut my dubplates and mastering berlin.
weve been big fans of general ludd from the start and are delighted to finally release something from them. these three tracks were made specifically to be played live during their panorama bar debut and it s pretty easy to imagine them rocking the joint! superb dark and trippy groovers destined to go straight in the bag of craig richards and ricardo.
when we started the bunker new york label in 2014 there was a short list of artists whose music we knew that we wanted to get out into the world. lori napoleon. aka antenes. was high up on that list. although at the time the brooklyn-based chicago native had yet to release her recorded music at all. five years on. after acclaimed records on l.i.e.s. and silent season. residencies at issue project room and bell labs plus a busy global touring schedule as both a dj and live performer. we are proud and excited to present loris ante meridiem ep under her antemeridian production moniker. she tells us that the antemeridian project is a special outlet for her more melodic synthesizer compositions and the name antemeridian refers to morning light and the meridian lines of the planet. the view you would have from above if you were already in the sky/space/seeing the atmosphere also from a great distance.

the first release of our new project studio mule is a cover of japanese 80s dance classic carnaval by taeko ohnuki. is studio mule a band? unit? we never have fixed member except kuniyuki takahashi as a track maker. we invite who we love. the first gest is our beloved miyako koda aka dip in the pool. you remember the reissue of on retinae on music from memory. miyako koda is one of the most carisma model in japan in 80s and the vocalist of experimental pop band dip in the pool. dance edit on a side is true to the original. off course more playful than original. extended edit on b side is more club friendly house version.
opener laguna is a loopy. liquid track of fluttering drums and rubbery kicks that never lets up. ortica is more gloopy and wonky. with firmer kicks and aqueous sounds dripping off the groove. while lyra is beautifully delicate and intricate. with underwater life forms drifting by as gentle xylophones sounds dance around. the masterful minimalism continues on the dark. undulating and alien vilipendio. and things round out with the paranoid voices and panning synths of mekong . an unsettling track that has you looking over your shoulder.
laconic phrases are all about less words and more sense. we use the same principles in our stripped down grooves which are released on fresh imprint - laconica. its all about minimalistic dance-floor tools which were tested in different clubs around the world. from kyiv s closer to concrete in paris.
for a debut ep. label founder alex pervukhin presents 3 different grooves. on the a-side you can find hommie groove. which is an excellent example of a broken-beat house music with good-old airy juno pads. on b side there are two 4/4 tools: bb. which could be heard in varhat’s mix for concrete which was so hyped last year. aa is a peak-time killer with analogue chords and jackin bassline. strong minimalistic grooves - exactly what laconica is all about.

core family member and crisis founder imre kiss returns to the lobster fray with a deep. riveting and emotive ep for sub-label mörk. infused with the emotional energy of his previous outings whilst plunging into a wormhole of london-centric sonic references. strangers is imre at his most potent and signals a striking return for the budapest producer.
uncage founder marco faraone debuts on rekids. dropping four techno cuts on the label’s special projects series this march. the italian producer has had a busy few years touring north america. south america and europe. not to mention dropping releases on labels like ovum and tenax recordings. meanwhile his uncage imprint. which he runs alongside norman methner. has quickly cemented a reputation for quality house and techno. releasing music from artists like eduardo de la calle. pablo mateo and fabio della torre (under his corcos moniker). with its rolling percussion and a heady spoken word sample. find the song introduces a quintessential rekids record. thunderous kick drums and piercing stabs then form the high-octane arcane before the dark and ominous justice demonstrates industrial elements and floating atmospherics. tying it all together. tantalizing melodies join echoing effects for the final track titled layers.
people you may know is the alias of phran and ylia when they work together. both share a love of experimentation in dance music and improvisation in the creative process. they use drum machines. synthesisers and all kinds of pedals to arrive at the intersection of humour. psychedelia and the most hedonistic dance.

since launching their ksmisk project in 2015 the pair have returned to some of these labels whilst also dropping two releases on renowned bergen-based techno label ploink. of which 2017 s magma ep is the precursor to their inaugural album mikrometeorittene . opening the package is the ominous and beatless lonsdaleite . setting the tone for an otherworldly aesthetic throughout. off-kilter kicks then rain down in silicate as sinister drones ebb in and out of the mix before meandering back into a ghostly ambient cut named vesta . crunchy percussion and tantalising atmospherics then make up blitz . moving into the twisted and syncopated marinate until the raw sounding spherules exhibits a compelling groove combined with echoing effects. the dusky wustite sees the album retreat from 4/4 once again. returning for the effervescent westergas before concluding on a melancholic outro entitled chondrites .
“remains”. magda ter’s sophomore album. has been created over the past two years changing its shape several times. it is a compromise between static. experimental background music and soothing techno glimpses with some samples of acoustic instruments. as a result. the album has contemplative colours. although hidden beneath the surface of seemingly uninvolved sounds.
due to this fact ter’s music cannot be pigeonholed. one can even say that “remains” leaves the audience with a huge amount of space for their own feelings and interpretations of the individual sequences. while simultaneously dropping some vague cues. thus. we are dealing with one of the most intriguing electronic polish releases in recent years.

chreal01 is the debut project by scottish producer chaotic reality exploring a meditative side to techno. written over the course of several months spent living in new york as a resistance to the frenetic pace of a busy environment. chreal01 contains four tracks that repeat. oscillate and soundtrack a more centred existence. inspired by shinichi atobe. avalon emerson. newworldaquarium / ross154 & the 7th plain. each track in this self-released record is named after its sequence and operates on a slower tempo. focussing on melody and sound design. with aim to investigate the space between dub techno and early trance. track one opens with gentle dancing chords developing over 7 minutes. with subtle nods to echospace and black dogs otaku over a punchy kick and warm sub. reverb-licked stabs pass softly in and out the mix and ride over a homogenous chord range. highlighting points in the melody and meandering back into the ether. two has an introspective focus. rarely reaching more than two kicks per four bars. an arpeggiated lead centres the composition. slowly developing over a thick bassline. distant snaps and pops season the track and highlight the empty breathing space intentionally left in the production. on the b-side. three is characterised by heavily saturated kicks softly thumping under a bubbling melody. broken by echo-delayed stabs varying in form. filter depth and feedback timing. on the closing song four. chaoticreality develops and sculpts a stack of delayed chords creating a progressively elevating soundscape. the lead melody chords layer and discord changing thickness. shape and form throughout with pseudo kicks acting as a complimentary melody. here. cr plays with space to creating a hypnotic spacial production akin to digital justice or the orb. with the intention to take the listener to a transcendental state. chreal01 is housed in a popset sleeve & hand stickered

paper tree sneaked out into the world for a moment a few years back and then vanished. lee burridge loved the track so much that he continued to harass rebelski. sometimes standing outside his window in the flower bed. for weeks on end until he finally agreed to let lee release it on all day i dream. not content with a single track lee went back to rebelskis garden and tapped on the window repeatedly until he agreed to make some more beautiful tracks. obviously pestering producers in this manner bares fruit. the paper tree ep ranges from a beautiful solitary solo piano piece that wouldn t be amiss in a british period piece drama where someone dies unexpectedly leaving the survivors to deal with it. all the while maintaining their stiff upper lip. fly the kite made us want to go outside and do just that. so we did. it was epic. circles and squares joins paper tree as one of those dance floor moments best experienced with ones eyes closed. myriad is the sound of a young lady robots jewelry box (yes. we predict robots will be wearing jewelry in the future) that she(bot) pines to hear when she s all grown up and rusty. omoshiroi is. well. its just so damn pretty. good work rebelski. good work.
a four track ep from slum village co-founder. former bling47 label boss and current head of the dirt tech reck label. waajeed. the detroit native has worked previously with theo parrish. mad mike banks and amp fiddler. and in 2017 held a residency at detroit love parties across the globe. ‘mother’. featuring detroit singer-songwriter steffanie christi an. is driven by an arpeggiated synth lead above shuffling percussion and heartfelt vocals. whilst ‘earth’. a collaboration with the enigmatic blaktony. takes a moodier turn with stripped back drums and syncopated keys. ‘obba’ rides a melodic bassline into the cosmos. whilst ‘frances’ offers a soothing dose of otherworldly disco funk. additional mixing on the ep was provided by planet e head carl craig

after the success of the first full album ‘dagxnacht. the group formed by gilles helsen (keys) and freek vreys (guitar) expands with jazz-percussionist cas kinnaer. the musical recipe of seizoensklanken remains the same: instrumental compositions balancing between colourful afrobeat and intimate electronica.
after an excellent first release featuring freerotation lynchpin steevio. russ gabriels rivers of groove label returns with a pair of excursions into lush. bubbling techno from gabriel on his own. as a first generation uk techno stalwart. its little wonder that he can turn out productions as accomplished as these. but there s no sense that he s treading water. ambulate bears the hallmarks of modular production. all twinkling. morphing synth tones chiming around a delicate beat. while dover calling favours a snappier electro palette. but both stand out from the crowd for the sheer quality in the production. the warmth in the composition and the needlepoint focus given to every shred of detail in this crucial cuts.
about this release *first 10 tracks only come with the limited edition nijmegen s eshu welcomes co-founder ivano tetelepta for his first solo release on the label. it is also the imprint s first full length. but tetelepta s second album after the hypnotic drum workout that was true colours. his debut on fear of flying in 2012. it comes as a double vinyl release with the first disc being limited. and finds the producer casting himself free from the dance floor and serving up a beautifully atmospheric soundtrack that would be a perfect companion for a nature documentary. when making eps and 12-s. tetelepta s smooth and infectious drums are always front and centre in his work. whether solo or as producing with label mates under the eshu alias.
the third of march’s trio of py 45s. is a revisit to the always enjoyable dark electro world of berlin’s mighty detox twins.
the new record offers up a pair of killer synthpop gems which. in the words of the bands’ mark vorderhaus “drift into the arena of the unwell with their latest outing “in the hospital garden”. and pose the curious questions: is it so unfortunate to surrender your mind to a permanent altered state? can losing oneself irreversibly to a manipulated insanity. actually prove to become a rare and wonderful freedom? attraction battles control as the transformation completes itself. the b-side. “transformation” depicts the liberated insanity without challenge. now thriving and pulsating beyond the point of any return.”
two more ace tunes which precede a full length later in the year for polytechnic youth. killer hooks from synth maestro mark. aligned with glorious effect to devi’s icy nico-esque vocals. another winner for both artist and label!
a pressing of 250 copies. hand numbered with sticker insert and destined to fly out super quick.
polytechnic youth enter the fray once again. continuing an already productive year (these new 45s are 4/5/6th releases in 2018 already!) with a trio of quite brilliant yet totally different 45s.
alpár aka hungarian bálint zalkai. is the co-founder of farbwechsel. the budapest based record label. and his own recordings of electronic compositions (often built upon random looping sequencers in a minimalist style) are key to the label’s release output thus far. his goal as he sees it is to “catch a random pattern. loop it and build up a piece with that randomly pulsing theme. just let to flow the voltages and sound waves and try not to disturb them or change their basic behaviours”.
the two tracks here were recorded with this approach very much in mind. the atmosphere of “mejiro” is “not unlike a bird observation. attempting to find the right spot. getting closer and closer to the bird. which almost controls you and your movements as you attempt to near it”. whereas “wakayama” is a more direct piece. and maybe the most melodic song alpár ever recorded. while “mejiro” is a woozy. cautious piece. “wakayama is like a tropical fruit or the ume. (the japanese apricot). colourful and full of flavour yet -with thanks to- the slowly humming theme in the background. an element of sourness grips you at the back of your tongue as it ends!
a beautiful pair of tracks released as a double a side 45 early march 2018. pressing of 250 numbered copies.
the second of march’s trio of killer polytechnic youth 45s is a mighty extended piece of slow building berlin school-esque electronica extended over 2 sides of a 33rpm disk. recorded by adam leonard. initially from a batch of 18 tracks recorded at varying times over the last six years.
“entkommen” is his first release for the label here. and both artist and label rather liked the idea of one extended track across two sides of a 45. whereby the listener must flip the disc at a half way point to continue the piece. it struck us as increasingly unusual and works a treat here...
adam has amassed a number of acclaimed releases in varying styles. and across a number of esteemed labels over the years. last year’s full band release “invaderband” being shortlisted for a northern ireland music prize 2017 and was 6music recommended. not to mention previous releases in collaboration with the owl service and p.g six.
his electronic home recordings are all well worth investigating and polytechnic youth proudly releases the first fruits of those sessions right here. a numbered. limited edition vinyl only 7” hand numbered to 250 copies.

pærer. fresh label from france. influenced by detroit pioneers. uk experiments and berlin vibe. aims to promote the deep and experimental sides of techno. the first ep is a distant trip into a spatial atmosphere. combining percussive beats and perfect raw mixtures. an entrance in a deepness and grainy world. where you can feel the ground humming... include tracks by voice of sylenth (oscil8). untitled signal. jiman (nowhere. forsaken cell. singular) and a remix by birth of frequency (construct re-form. enemy records. concrete). enjoy!
drew mcdowall and hiro kones collaborative record the ghost of georges bataille induces a state of suspense via sonic seance. conjuring the sentiment of death as productive force. the artists join their analog paradigms to open a door elsewhere. or perhaps. inside sublimating personal struggles into ritualistic offerings. churning. cinematic. and pulsating with an organic sentience the ghost of georges bataille invites an undeniable presence into the consciousness and lulls both collectors and the newly inducted alike into catharsis with the hairs on their arms standing up. not for the casual listener.

nick anthony simoncino is synonymous with the revival of italian house music over the past five years or so. and so it feels right for him to be delivering this album to vibraphone. of course. simoncino has more than enough skills (and hardware) to make something truly special. and that s apparent from the opening strains of -mystic adventures- onwards. there s a sense of urgency and mystery woven into tracks like -righteous rule-. where haunting leads wobble over sizzling drum machines. and the overall mood is redolent of 80s soundtracks mixed with the uneasy side of chicago house music. maintaining a punchy finish throughout and constantly reaching for the spooky side of machine soul. simoncino has more than delivered for the legendary italian label.
