kim ann foxmans firehouse imprint storms into 2018 with an extra special re-release of the 1994 rave classic scott richmond and john selway aka psychedlic research lab, keep on climbin.the package features both original mixes alongside two outstanding remixes from deetron and kim ann foxman. mix 1 and mix 2 sound as glorious now as they did when they were released. mix 1, a bold, breakbeat construct, chopped vocal and emerging acid lines. mix 2 places four to the floor. it’s deeper with added percussion, soft chord stabs and an almighty breakdown to the drop. deetron makes his debut on firehouse with a tough, grinding version, underpinned by his signature, gnarling bassline sound. kim ann foxman incorporates acid lines to her revision. it builds intensely from start to finish, using angela johnsons iconic vocal loop to perfection.

abstract reality presents you an album by french artist leonard lampion. it gathers a one hour selection of cuts that explores several different musical landscapes. harsh industrial tracks share the tape alongside dark drone ambient, tribal sounds and downtempo emo feelings. side a is the more dancefloor oriented side, while side b explores more experimental paths.

shadow play, the brand new label owned by parisian artist le loup and his partner pura, drops its second release courtesy of the bossman himself alongside chris carrier. the two men got together in the studio and cooked up some tasty goodness. the first of four tracks on this release is the intergalactic opus phoenix lights , which works off serene pads that transport you out into the cosmos, along with a warm, soothing bassline and electronic chirps and bleeps. research programm (outro) takes us into more obscure realms, as chris carrier and le loup sample a scientific vocal and create a mesmerising bed of sounds underneath it. on the flip we kick off with clouds reflection , another track which features a sample from an old instructional video. this track has minimal composition, with dreamy astral pads, shuffling beats and a grumbling low end. in the second half chris and le loup introduce more twinkling fx, to engage and hypnotise you... to bring the ep to a close we re presented with v-shape , which begins with a layer of clever drum programming aimed straight at the hips. once you re moving get ready for the juicy bassline, and a sultry top end that grips you and gripping progression. the perfect to end an utterly fresh ep..

sun and bass is just around the corner, and the good people of drum n bass finest yearly festival have uploaded this fine video highlight reel of last years event, which also showcases tunes from their forthcoming selections compilation. this compilation will be a double cd / digital release, available initially only at ambra night while sun and bass is on. it will feature all new and exclusive tunes from the likes of calibre, s.p.y, klute, a-sides, lynx, dom & roland, & ulterior motive.

so what is the sound of progressive disco? well it captures the insane rhythm and the unforgiving driving beat that is instantly found in the funk of the early seventies but real disco music also had a formula that would guarantee the hottest djs success if played at the right time. that formula was a blend of up-tempo rhythm sections laden with south american percussion mixed with soulful vocals and orchestral strings - a symphony of sex, lust and love. we change the formula and focus on the rock, electronic and dub elements - slower, sleazy and fun.

bruno power creativity is developed into two different ways: the first one sounds tipically italian while the second one has a more melodic approach and is more linked to the dutch sound thanks to the support by dark oscillators who cooperated with him in putting together this release!
