roman producer (and a force behind minimalrome label) valerio lombardozzi known as heinrich dressel returns to barba with a second release for our label, titled -the styx swamp-. heinrich has a unique way of combining classic techno and electro sounds with elements from the beloved drexcyan universe and john carpenter leitmotifs, and making them come together in a manner that both moves your body and pushes your mind beyond the point of awareness. as with the previous record, -lurking underwater-, here he pulls off the move with the same efficiency and without sounding like he s repeating himself. -gray slope-, -sailing the nether waterways- and -the styx swamp- are all quite moody and deep, rich with sound and thick with vibe. however, the tracks feel equally at home in 4 am techno situation and a heady afterhours affair. he truly is a master of crafting hybrids whose influences get so flawlessly embedded that it s hard to point them out. if that s not enough, -the styx swamp- got a treatment by nigel rogers aka perseus traxx, a multi-faceted producer and a mighty live act performer. nigel stayed respectful to the original but made the original s bouncy groove into something more direct and reduced, while retaining the same feel conditioned by lead synth s hypnotic quality. we re known to give a little bit of extra love to our releases so (as all before) this one s pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by emaemaema.
for the fourth edition of slow motion’s soundtrack serie we welcome heinrich dressel, better known as one part of minimal rome. space shaft is three tracks of dreamy, sleazy space-funk delivered with a light touch across expansive musical horizons. backed up with a brace of marcoantonio spaventi versions – both ‘disco’ and ‘chill’ space shaft is a record for movie fans and dancers alike.
originally released by legowelts strange life on a cd-r back in 2007, mons testaceum finally has its first vinyl press on mannequin records. first full length released by heinrich dressel aka valerio lombardozzi, boss of the mighty minimal rome, mons testaceum together with escape from the hill and completion of the amphoras table represented the first of a trilogy dedicated to the monte testaccio, an artificial mound in rome composed almost entirely of testae, fragments of broken amphorae dating from the time of the roman empire
three tracks here evoking familiar feelings heard before but still somehow they all sound fresh and drag you in wanting for more. as if this wouldn t do it, there is first but, not last appearance for barba label by mighty jtc who needs no further introduction delivering a remix. this time he cleverly uses sparse but recognizable parts of title track which he then transforms into relentless floor shaker where detroit meets chicago, if any such comparison needs to be made. aquatic stuff !
while nowadays underground music hits are being selected and pushed through applications that analyze and calculate the amount of followers, friends, likes, hits, posts and traffic on social media, music is getting more and more isolated from its original function, being prostituted by companies that dont even listen to the actual content itself.
selected advent deal. - after the completion of the >studium amphorae< trilogy, heinrich dressel returns with a four-track release. a compendium of crime-o-rama deliberate violence, with the legowelt connivance. maybe the first chapter of a new dressel series?
francesco clemente and heinrich dressel cross the sea of sounds where everything is permitted. the outcome is an album thats rich in fascinations, and divided in two parts: in the first one the canadian composer plays some suspended and gentle sounds, while in the second one dressel brings the listener to an eternal struggle between darkness and light, comfort and despair.
from the dystopian future of 1997 the legendary warrior unit known as unit black flight, is now a lone survivor in a world gone mad. tracks from the trailer is the sound of one man s weapons upgrade montage as he prepares to escape indianapolis and heads ol californy-way to the beat of a linndrum. giallo disco records are proud to present the incredible unit black flight, who s previous releases on bunker, strange life and seed have never been too far from our dj bags. the tracks from the trailer ep comprises of remastered cuts from the 2012 digital only release, plus a special remix from minimal rome s heinrich dressel. this is horror disco at its finest.
dalmata daniel s next up is a collaboration with the bristol-born „weirdo disco guy- antoni maiovvi and also a contribution of heinrich dressel who is an unavoidable column of rome s electronic music scene. maiovvi s pleasure model project is all about youth – replaced by blade runner-esque replicas. his first release under this moniker was „kendo dynamics- on 100% silk in 2016. it aimed for presenting a persuasive world of fiber optic paranoia and technoid effacement. dd006 is the next level of the concept and the first time on vinyl. the tracks are driven by the characteristic haggard drum machine s sound on side a with a melancholic or dark synth themes what becomes a dreamy melody in the „prism riot- on side b. the remix by heinrich dressel is a turn back directly into the darkness, but it is faster and more like a film soundtrack with his own characteristics, of course. the whole ep has a strong vintage mood and sound. it can be said that update 1.1 is definitely dystopian, coming from the future of our past.
frigio records is going back in time for its latest release, some 38 years into the past. back then a young newcastle man was experimenting with early electronic instruments and synths. mick clarke is his name and nearly forty years later he is still at it. two tracks have been borrowed from clarke s seminal games lp, each given a bit of modern boot polish from minimalrome s heinrich dressel and frigio father juanpablo.
-walls of the night- is a blissed out work of ambient prog rock abstraction. think rumbling horror score and soaring guitar strings. heinrich dressel offers a giallo dipped remix. the building bars of the original are maintained, beats added for ballast and darkened organ keys for a remake etched with murderous intent. the flip is introduced by the dreamy -time is now.- slender synthlines intertwine with gentle strings in a cerebral work. juanpablo tweaks the 1979 material. syrupy acid lines swim in meandering currents, a thick beat keeping time in murky waters of modulations and undulations.
crimes of the future is the kind of label you can trust, no matter who is at the controls. the same could be said for giallo disco, and certainly the two labels orbit a similar space for lurid soundtrack-inspired hardware jams from the italo age. vercetti technicolor is one half of the giallo team alongside antoni maiovvi, and here steps out with a perfectly bombastic range of compositions that revel in b-movie brilliance. -golden taurus- is the perfect slow-burner, those mono bass notes warming like no soft synth ever could, while -topaz fear- brings a more action-driven sequence into the mix. -death wish- too opts for a pumped up club scenario, while heinrich dressel smokes out -golden taurus- into a seedy slow-jam.
after the night sea journey of francesco clemente-heinrich dressels split release il faro, minimalrome returns with a concept album inspired by the silence and the noises of the plague. heinrich dressel, umberto, anton maiof, alessandro parisi, and vercetti technicolor explore the solitude, terror, stillness and unsophisticated chaos of the epidemic in a 5 tracks lp that is limited to 250 hand-stamped copies and comes with a 12 pages color a5 booklet.
the companion remix album to *evaluations*, *evaluated* contains 10 remixes by roladex, xiu, soft riot, phosphor, castratii, heinrich dressel and more. also includes free download coupon with 4 bonus remixes by pleasure curses, spatial relation, dylan god and vygr. limited edition of 250 copies on clear vinyl.
*a dead summer* is the highly recommended first album by der noir, a roman trio offering a dark and gloomy sound reminiscent of early bauhaus and the sisters of mercy. this is the remix album, released by minimalrome and featuring heinrich dressel, mick wills, teslasonic, newclear waves and alessandro parisi. highly limited to 120 copies! dont miss out on it!
concept lp featuring seven rome-based producers and styles ranging from electro to acid techno to ebm and nu disco, all glued by the rough sound of analogue synthesizers and drum machines. the title is the translation of monte dei cocci, an ancient man-made hill formed by crockery, mostly fragments of amphoras,
