exchange place is the dj collective that includes nicuri himself alongside joey anderson, dj qu and a producer by the name of art gallery. the name makes reference to a district in downtown jersey city, just across the river from manhattan, which is where the crew is primarily based. they released a 12-inch under the name exchange place with dj qu s strength music label back in 2010, and have dj d occasionally as a group around new york city. the new ep, immaculate inception, includes one track from each of the four contributors.

the new vinyl-only record label modeight continues to expand the influence of east european underground dance music. silat beksi is well known for his tracks that pump the best afterhours worldwide, and also for his plentiful creative collaborations. three tracks were prepared for the ep together with the immensely talented musician durrrred from germany. “over” immerses us in a cold dark techno atmosphere. “afterglow” brings you out of the darkness so that you can see the infinite beauty of dawn at the sea. the elastic bass line of “inception” pulls you into the dense vibrations that captivate you and won’t let you leave the dance floor.

qore 3.0 is a new concept by the biggest hard dance event promoters in the world q-dance. with this new concept they wanted to melt several streams from the hardcore scene together. with a packed heineken music hall in november 2011 they managed to mixup the styles in one room and people went nuts. a fresh new concept to give the scene an extra boost. the soundtracks of this event are made by 3 separate artists who gave their vision and made smashing tracks.

act re act: daaaaark is the typical expression used to define act re act. uplfting synths, spastic latin percussion, and a pummeling 808 bring some light for the harder moments.
ms. minnie: kitty ms. minnie, age 39, was caught saturday evening sneaking a 909 into the club and having her way with the hi-hats. she ripped it up in honor of larry heard before being forcefully removed by security. the whereabouts of said 909 are unknown.
the origin: a minimal bit of italo kit shoved through the hatch of a nasa shuttle (it was recorded in houston, tx after-all) and sent around several moons of several planets. what was discovered is only now being made available for public consumption.

dead dreams don t die vol 1 marks the inception of half grand records, a label focused on no-frills, raw talent electronic music. this artefact contains new output from several members of legendary borft records. nimam (spregleda) gives us a riotous and exuberant drum and bass banger that will have your teeth jingling. jon doppler s signals transform from searing blasts of psychedelia to soaring synths that will make you pine for days of yore. a stantz drops some body music that s equal parts acid and mosh pit. the closing track is by a group specific to the label, cracktros. cracktros is a collaborative group project that will continue to grow as more artists join the hg fold. with this number, the collective explores fantastic textures in this riveting deep house ditty. keep your eyes peeled on this label.

we could say that with this sixth studio album anthony joseph is back to his roots. indeed, it was recorded on his native island of trinidad. but it is more of a continuation, of a culmination. as the caribbean music has strongly infused the music of anthony since its inception. this album entitled people of the sun is a tribute to port of spain (pos), this bubbling port, meeting place of many cultures and a door open on south america. this energy is found throughout the album with many stars of the island (3 channel, brother resistance, ella andal, boogsie the king of steel pan) and pays tribute to rapso, a mixture of protest poetry and soca / calypso created in the 80’s. as always the verb remains in the spotlight with anthony joseph.

label stalwart jubei returns to the label alongside long term friend tyrone for ‘the arcane ep. taking its name from the club night where they first met, ‘the arcane ep is partly a follow up to 2015s ‘out of sight with the duo now delivering a full 4 track collaborative release which has garnered support from goldie to chase & status and shy fx to break, with loads more in between. jubei & tyrones concept for an ep was triggered by the creation of ‘stabs, which since its inception has undoubtedly become one of the most asked about metalheadz tracks of recent times and was an obvious choice to headline an ep full of energy and accomplishment.
