for more than a year, third ear and benjamin have been selecting tracks for this ep and for an album to follow later in the year. the wait was largely due to the track no kicks, which initially used a chuck d acapella, titled no. when third ear couldn?t get clearance for the acapella, we suggested to benjamin that we try and think of another poet/rapper who could produce an original lyric inspired by chuck d?s flow. after some thought we suggested diamondancer, who was inspired to write the lyric she performs here. stay hungry stay foolish and acidic sun are delicious and dreamy, with a fat pulsing groove. hello ammmerika is more urgent, pushing the groove constantly.

it really is a great pleasure for exclusive to welcome back jef ks wonderful silver network label with their latest single from, valentin feat. the morvans. valentins electronic musical heritage stretches back to the early days of rave. as a wide eyed and open minded 18 year old he became hooked and soon immersed himself in the ever evolving culture. in the early 90s he worked for bpm, the very first underground parisian record store and it was here that he built a vast knowledge of the exciting us labels and producers. by the end of the 90s valentin was a regular on the dj and after-hours circuit, but as the rapidly developing >french touch movement< began to make its mark, it was time to find new inspiration

lory ds idiosyncratic take on techno is an all-analogue assault on the senses, a soundtrack to the end of the world punctured by shards of acid and twisted metal soundscapes. a john carpenter for the rave generation, so to speak. the enigmatic lory is something of a legend in his native city of rome, where the former dmc champion was responsible for introducing his compatriots the sounds of techno, acid and hardcore with 5.000 strong raves featuring ritchie hawtin, underground resistance, joey beltram and lfo. his label sounds never seen was the soundtrack to these raves � an industrial yet sometimes beautiful vision of techno where drexciya, frankie bones and spk jammed in the roman sewers.

this latest lovebirds ep on winding road records is another absolute masterpiece of chilled house soul and deep rave. a really excellent package and a must-have lovebirds release. on the a-side track, >want you in my soul<, lovebirds teams up with vocalist stee downes. stees acclaimed debut album >all in a day< was released on sonar kollektiv in 2008, and who has worked and performed alongside the likes of motor city drum ensemble, amp fiddler, dj spinna, and bugz in the attic. their collaboration for winding road is a driving vocal house bomb that will rock your world. the b-side kicks off with the dirty tech tune >give me a dubf*ck<, an injection of dark rave that has been causing serious explosions on dancefloors for a few months now. perfect chemical material for the harder floors. the b2 track is hot toddys remix of >want you in my soul< - a chrome-plated disco dimension to the track by crazy p man chris todd, which was licensed to tensnakes >in the house< compilation before it even saw the light of day. hot stuff indeed.

horror disco melds these soundtrack and aural ideas with a 100% disco album. one that drifts away from most of the soulful elements of disco and one that is dirtier, warmer and less polished than contemporary scandinavian nu-disco. the album is wide and varied - slashdance gives us a goblin-esque robo-vocoder-disco, roger bacon is pure cosmic groove, whilst the italo-disco-thriller disco for the devil features the vocals of italian-based, uk-born session master douglas meakin � who back in the day was lead vocalist in simonetti s easy going and crazy gang cult disco projects.

>en garde< is the first single from puzzle mutesons debut album. the music was arranged and produced by nico muhly and valgeir sigursson and recorded in the greenhouse studios in iceland. the title track, >en garde<, pits puzzles longing against waves of dense strings and jagged rhythm. with it comes the bonus track >brittle beak<. en garde takes an unexpected and unique voice and elevates it out of any easily discernible pocket. puzzle muteson could be folk or something completely different - instead he is an intense stranger from the isle of wight - at once both familiar and unfamiliar.

reissue - cass mccombs, singer-songwriter born in northern california in 1977 and currently residing somewhere in that state, is set to release wit�s end, his fifth-and-a-half album and third on domino, on april 11th. the result of two years recording in various homes and studios in california, new york, new jersey and chicago, wit�s end was produced by cass with ariel rechtshaid, with whom he also created catacombs.sounds that conjure the colors purple and black, this is his darkest record to date. it seems he is going deeper into the mania of a man buried alive inside his self-made catacombs, banging the stone walls, crying to be let out, and enjoying the quiet away from the outside world. however, he is not a man afraid of his own shadow, for in this environment of complete darkness, no shadows can be cast. this is a world of total feeling. here, words become a catalyst away from the slavery of arbitrary thought and toward feeling.

in january 2011 mark was invited by erik wiegand (aka errorsmith) to make some presets for his new software synthesizer which he was building for native instruments. after developing about 40 sounds*, mark decided to rework his ul8 project by extending the pattern generating systems used in its construction, which he then connected to the sounds produced in erik s synthesizer. the result is this double 12 single, featuring 9 tracks and a remix from mark s friend and colleague mat steel.

the response to sven kacireks album the kenya sessions (pingipung 20) was overwhelming. the cooperation between the drummer-producer from hamburg and musicians from kenya links electroni- ca with african recordings in a unique, exciting fa- shion. it therefore has been and still is being praised in various scenes from techno to jazz to world mu- sic. the cd will receive the award preis der deut- schen schallplattenkritik in may 2011, category: nu and extreme. also friends of the label have been enthusiastic about e quality of this material. pingipung therefore re- leases a 10inch vinyl with reworks of the album in the end of may. lawrence, hamburgs most melancholy house artist, co-owner of the labels dial, smallville and laid dedicates himself to the track kayamba tuc tuc. he reduces the track to its essen- ce, without adding anything new, and edit full of wisdom with heartfelt warmth. taprikk sweezee is the best known moniker of the musician nikolai von sallwitz next to gizmog or fussel . taprikk sweezee builds his soul glitch beats with ease, and he is by the way the most convincing electronic performer we know these days. one single track was not enough for his mix. wed love to see him dance with all the kenyan musicians who play on his two originals of choice, kayamba tuc tuc and mariae. furthermore on this 10inch: a rework of paperflowers by sven kacirek himself, created in cooperation with samy de- luxe producer sebastian winkler. finally, less a bonus but maybe the secret highlight: the ex- clusive sven kacirek track takaye village!

new vocal 12 inch on wph....tip! it should be obvious by now that we here at the wph camp are keen on real vocals. so while the rest of the world is busy sampling and recycling vocals from the past, leave it up to us to pick out those tracks that feature fresh and home made vocals. although wph 012 by dj yellow also indulges in a little bit of recycling, or rather good old fashioned licensing. the title track >night in tranzylvania< has been a huge favourite with label boss red d and his belgian crowd ever since it was released on the criminally overlooked album >intermission< on project recordings in 2008. but now it is back in all its glory and supported by >angels part< a killer ambient track which also featured on that album album, >je tm<, a new track by dj yellow and a russ gabriel remix of the title track.
