the caribbean house is a new billy bogus project. it’s the perfect meld of creepy atmospheres, sunset grooves, analog sensibilities and incessant rhythms. bogus leads this collective formed by federico bologna (ohmega tribe, technogod) and cristiano santini (disciplinatha, dish-is-nein,). this triumvirate of 90 s underground italian masterminds come from the world of electronica, noise rock and psychedelia. here they all combine to rise again rise and unite to create something entirely new.

almost 5 years after his previous album *horror disco* (which was a concept album drawing connections between italian 70s and 80s giallo and horror movies soundtracks and disco music) bottin is back with a stunning new full length opus. entitled *punica fides* the album was made during sessions in venice, rome, berlin and ibiza.

upon the first listen, the work of fernando unfolds directly on your brain and leaves a long lasting feeling of drama. fernando pulichino is one those lucky guys who can pick up any instrument and write songs without breaking a sweat. he first caught my attention with a remake of the bauhaus classic kick in the eye released on redux in 2008. he then backed up this great start with releases and remixes for labels like international feel, under the shade, internasjonal and nang. he also very busy touring as part of the 2020 soundsystem band and he is also in silver city with julian sanza.
we decided to put together a long player to highlight the talents of our man in buenos aires. the construction of *float* reveals an astonishing wealth of musical ideas, brazen touches of new wave and icy modern disco sounds are evident throughout. low slung basses are also a theme that runs right through *float* whether it is the opening song *a place* which has a monster electronic bottom end or *from out there* which sits firmly on the punk funk dinner table, bass lines are clearly important to fernando.

soiree are back with another slice synergy that only these devoted individuals could make. the soiree sound is a gumbo of flavours bonded together with a lets have fun production ethos. max essa and stevie kotey created the soiree project to write quirky yet funky songs which show their love of experimentation.

blakula is back, more intoxicated, broken-hearted, sad, horny, dazed and confused than ever. each track tells a tale of doom and gloom, torment and desire, ecstasy and pain, painted with the darkest shade of noir color and the deepest red. as with the first record, blackulas musical brew is eclectic: seventies funk, giallo and horror soundtracks, psychedelia, rock, contemporary classical, the avant-garde, no wave, free jazz & blues.

the word genius is not a term we like to use loosely when speaking about our artists but giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor experiment fits the bill. a gifted musician, soft synth designer, found sound pioneer and he still finds time to make forward thinking disco pop for bearfunk as tobor experiment >disco experience<.
after a well received ep in 2008 we sent giorgio back to the studio with the remit to make an lp so special that it could open new doors for us. well he certainly delivered! opening with the sweet modern disco sounds of >postcards from a nervous breakdown< we then get the first taste of giorgios song writing prowess with >breathe< a rather intense little number.

the bearfunk bandwagon just keeps rolling! not content with providing some of the best moments in leftfield dance we again head back to italy so clap rules can show us their >golden hands<.
clap rules is the new pseudonym of fabrizio mammarella, andrea gabriele and max leggieri: who in their own words >make experiments with dance music<. after well received ep’s for labels like tiny sticks & dissident and remixes for dfa artist michoacan, new yorks in flagranti and french electronic music pioneer etienne de crecy. they have caught the attention of djs and music lovers from many different scenes. with a deep love for vintage equipment and recording techniques they mix this up with a fresh modern approach to concoct electronic music with no boundaries, which in itself is what bearfunk is all about, so this marriage was made in heaven.

horror disco melds these soundtrack and aural ideas with a 100% disco album. one that drifts away from most of the soulful elements of disco and one that is dirtier, warmer and less polished than contemporary scandinavian nu-disco. the album is wide and varied - slashdance gives us a goblin-esque robo-vocoder-disco, roger bacon is pure cosmic groove, whilst the italo-disco-thriller disco for the devil features the vocals of italian-based, uk-born session master douglas meakin – who back in the day was lead vocalist in simonetti s easy going and crazy gang cult disco projects.

their debut three tracker ep has a theme running through it.. yup, its all about sides. first up is a riff you may well know from trevor horn and fgth. they take the tribe groove, slow it down and strip the groove back. using just the riff from the famous 80s monster hit they cunningly carve out >two sides< as their sultry opener. next up >by my side< enlists the help of the handily associated brass section. shuffling grooves, stabby horns and muted picked guitar are the order of the day. its a perfect one for those early dj-set appetizing sections. to round things off we tone it down even further with the beautiful >by my side<. subtle tones, lazy keys and a smouldering groove. when the keys kick in during the last minute its a glorius and sublime treat. stay tuned for more sides.

peters love of obscure disco and house shows in this solo album - wide ranging influences have gone into the musical hot-pot. take the slo-mo lazy groove of lead track and opener love is the key . this sets the sonic palette, laid back, underground and understated (but cucumber cool) throughout. deliberately absent are the commercial and pseudo-poppy sounds from the visti and meyland 2010 debut. this record is a club affair, less in your face and more all around you . for example lost in space is one part elastic groove, one part melodious, enveloping ambience and one part progressive disco groove. tracks such as i m out the door , bubble bubble and drinking in darkness are more direct, straight dance floor booty-shaking grooves. as is what you would expect from the man who has dj stamped firmly into his dna.

we would like to say it was all part of a big bombastic plan… the biggest selling bearfunk artist, a top song, the prague philharmonic, 40 piece strings and some great remixes all to celebrate bearfunks 50th release, but alas, it was not! bfk050 is actually the 67th single release on bearfunk. the strings were done in the lunch-break downtime of a session in prague with strings-chappie, john bryan. make good music and occasionally, just occasionally, good things happen to you! so the knife-edge karma of indie record labels flows.

japanese based, dry-witted, multi-instrumentalist, max essa, docks his yacht to the good ship bearfunk once more. this time its the title track from his soon-come lp >white shoes blue dreams<. the original morphs things on from his pundit-pleasing beach and summer grooves onto an 80s tilt. the original mix is full of slick grooves and melodic musicality. maxs own >marbella< mix discos things up with a catchy keyboard riff that makes one think of a certain van mccoy, floor-filling stuff. fellow bearfunk sailor, roberto auser, is up for remix duties. his angular dutch grooves strip things back and make things refreshing and cool like he does with just about everything he touches. stay tuned for the second max essa album on bearfunk in the autumn.

back from mystery city follows a similar blueprint, with the core duo employing a cast of live musicians (including string ensembles, brass ensembles and the prague symphony orchestra) to perform their organic disco compositions. all of the tracks were composed, arranged and produced by maccari and bellentani and recorded in rome in 2010 and 2011.
