august of 2016 sees domenico’s sonic determination surprisingly rematerializing on silent servant, regis and james ruskin’s jealous god label with a new, strong ep crowning the distinct quality of this limited series.

5th chineurs de house series, and debut ep for this young and amazing fela from hamburg germany. this ep lays between old school deep house and lofi, the perfect compromise to either kill the dancefloor or hit the road.

another very fine release in asthmatic kitty s library catalog music series, this album comes from william ryan fritch, a prolific film composer, sound recordist and multi-instrumentalist from oakland, ca. fittingly, music for honey and bile takes on the character of a cinematic score, collecting a number of varied instrumentals that show an incredible range to fritch s diverse talents. in addition to the composition and production, fritch performs virtually everything on the album, playing piano, guitars, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, marimba, vibraphone and dulcimer to name but a relative few. this is seriously impressive stuff, and chamber pieces such as too anxious to dream , shadows like despondent ghosts and tongues that chatter like pigeons sound like the work of a large ensemble rather than just one man. the variety exhibited on the album is breathtaking too, switching between large-scale productions complete with multilayered strings and percussion to more intimate pieces like eggshells and the manipulated piano drone minimalism of chewed their nails to caustic red pads .

hero wouters is a dutch artist who has been active since 1950. through the years he has been involved in many (music) projects. his work in the field of electronic music ranges from synthpop to experimental music. some people might know him from his collaborations with the legendary pink dots and edward ka-spel. other people might know him from his contributions to the obscure contactdisk vinyl series or his appearance on the legendary dutch ding-dong tape label. featured on this lp is work by hero wouters from 1982, 1984, and 1986. most of the material was written for a dutch film (‘een zaak van leven en dood’) and a theatre play (‘laios’). the music has been (partly) released on cassette on hero’s own label herophone. now it is for the first time available on vinyl. the music has been restored from the original tapes and mastered for vinyl with great care not to loose the original feeling. below you can find soundclips for the tracks but we feel these do not give a really good impression of the record. the music (and the record) have to be heard in total (and as a whole) to be fully experienced and appreciated. we are proud to present this beautiful and simply fantastic music by a dutch artist that deserves more attention. the wonderful cover artwork is a drawing by maaike.

with his newest ep goa tee, moscoman finds himself seven releases deep into his 12 part treisar series. living up to its name, the seventh piece of the puzzle is the trippiest of the series yet, kicking off with some of my fears, a piece if outer space hypnosis carried by a rolling percussion and bass combo that will keep firmly stomping across dancefloors. reflecting the mood set on the a side, moments in space sees moscoman channel his italo flair while reaching out for a rave indebted sonic palette. final track chinchilla closes on delirious sounds and 8 bit melodies rubbing shoulders with a lovingly syncopated beat. a weapon all exotically inclined djs will be reaching out for a their next jungle party.

the second release in endless illusion s series of split eps comes from marcos cabral & daniel araya and features two tracks from each artist. new york s cabral is known for his experimental idm and techno on labels like l.i.e.s. while daniel araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the classicworks label. araya s we almost lost detroit is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. ghost bass is the other araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. it s a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. live at the egg is cabral s first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. after getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. cuts & bruises rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. it s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine ep.

raoul k is known for blending the sounds of real westafrican instruments and modern electronic clubsounds into one mesmerizing soundscape. this time, he takes a new approach: the original mix is produced without the use of any electronic instrument. just pure african sounds, chopped and melted together into one groovy slice of contemporary clubmusic. this is the first release in a series celebrating the tenth year of baobab music… which will lead to a new raoul k album. electronics aren’t completely left out. the blending, however, was left to the remixers this time: irfan adds a good measure of energy in his mix, setting up some analog synths with raoul’s beats. watch out for the break… kaito delivers a very dreamy remix which seems to lose its kickdrum but does not lose its groove. dance into the sunrise. choose vinyl, please

tomoki tamura s holic trax label has long been renowned as a canny exporter of clued in house and techno. their latest continues in this regard, as tamura again calls on a series of renowned label friends to bring the heat. with names such as mr.g, satoshi tommie and tuccillo all appearing it here alongside tamura himself, it s no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years of the label, is filled with drama and high points throughout. this is immediately obvious from mr.gs soba shioyaki. titled in homage to the label s japanese heritage, it s a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. deep but tough, it s a perfect of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. gs komorebi puts a tough emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here.

flesh world is a dream punk group formed in the summer of 2012 in san francisco. the quartet includes scott moore (guitar, synths) jess scott (vocals, guitar) andrew luttrell (bass, backing vocals) sam lefebvre (drums). jess and scott met while loitering around the panhandle district, listening to records, gossiping, and playing live shows around town with their bands (scott plays in hardcore group limp wrist and jess played in the indie pop band brilliant colors).

this summer 2017 tom bulwer launches parasol culture, a vinyl only imprint, focusing on quality house and techno, with a tinge of “it’s a london thing”. dutch born tom came to london as a uk garage dj working up his way the ranks of pirate radio stations (freek fm, unknown fm), to producing and working with uk garage legend karl ‘tuff enuff’ brown. this year tom is focusing on tb audio, his analogue mastering studio in east london, and producing music on the deeper side of house and techno as a solo artist. tom has released on labels such as nu faze, !k7 and signatune records. he also regularly writes with long term partner in crime anna wall under their own names and under their moniker casse. the first parasol culture release is the output of tom and anna’s winter months under the same roof and in his studio in hackney wick. 2017 also sees tom start a new venture with dexter kane (murmur, get physical, fear of flying), aptly named, alternate facts, a vinyl only label and free party series, wax and stacks, party over profit, power to the people.

transmitting crucial beats from burlington, the vermont-based producers es-k and loupo have crafted a smooth, introspective long-player for the cold busted label titled symbiosis. holland-born es-k (essential knowledge) is known for his monthly spontaneous grooves series (where a collection of tracks are created in one sitting) and his vital 2016 album passages. fellow vt rhythm- wrangler loupo is also on the rise, with a recent album on the melody soul label named good company. this new collaborative release, symbiosis, is a brilliant meeting-of-the-minds, blending the styles of these two talents over the course of ten tracks. the result is deep and meaningful as well as groovy and headz approved, showcasing the duos penchant for envelope pushing in terms of atmosphere, melody, and rhythm.

before there was a man in black, there were the sun records years, when cash began defining his peculiar and witty version of country music. born in arkansas in 1932, cash began recording as a top artist for sun records, for which he released his first full-length lp. this double lp set documents all the hits from 1955 to 1958, before cash signed to columbia records. these 35 “first steps” helped build the legend and are considered the milestones of an incredible career that ended with those passionate and soulful albums on the “american recordings” series released between 1994 and 2003, the year jr cash died on sept 12.
