for the first time iron curtis enters the ring over the full ep length for uncanny valley. there hasn t been much of a discussion whether or not this is something for uncanny valley when iron curtis approached the four label heads with this new pile of dance floor material. these tunes are too good. iron curtis must have been particularly inspired by the muse while producing these four outstanding house tracks. you ll feel a comprehensive knowledge about dance music s history when listening. no doubt, the franconian who is now based in berlin has spent a good time of analysing house music s techniques. -sweet romancer- is the best example for his studio eloquence. modulated synths, a classic bass line and a whole batch of drum ideas are combined into a wonderful track. the interplay between subtlety and vitality characterizes -nixdorf danse-. plus, you won t forget those strings. on -triroom- he proves that he has a knack for melodies as well. finally, -take me home- should provide a lot of emotional moments on the dance floor with its dramatic piano and crescendo-like synth line.

paper tree sneaked out into the world for a moment a few years back and then vanished. lee burridge loved the track so much that he continued to harass rebelski, sometimes standing outside his window in the flower bed, for weeks on end until he finally agreed to let lee release it on all day i dream. not content with a single track lee went back to rebelskis garden and tapped on the window repeatedly until he agreed to make some more beautiful tracks. obviously pestering producers in this manner bares fruit. the paper tree ep ranges from a beautiful solitary solo piano piece that wouldn t be amiss in a british period piece drama where someone dies unexpectedly leaving the survivors to deal with it, all the while maintaining their stiff upper lip. fly the kite made us want to go outside and do just that. so we did. it was epic. circles and squares joins paper tree as one of those dance floor moments best experienced with ones eyes closed. myriad is the sound of a young lady robots jewelry box (yes, we predict robots will be wearing jewelry in the future) that she(bot) pines to hear when she s all grown up and rusty. omoshiroi is, well, its just so damn pretty. good work rebelski. good work.

the fourth installment in john osborns dred records series will be from fellow uk producer harsh puri who goes under the moniker reformed society. dred 004 consists of six tracks in total three that will appear on the vinyl release, followed by another three that will be digital-only exclusives. harsh puri aka reformed society debuted in 2015 with this being his sixth consecutive release in order. harshs productions caught johns eye, or rather ear, after being sent to him last year and resulted in this release of six solid prime time deep house stompers. packaged in an understated matte white sleeve with a black and white picture of brahma (the four headed hindu god of creation) handstamped on each cover by the label owner himself, this being a continuation of the human skull dred logo. one life opens the dimensions ep and is the track given to label boss john osborn for deconstructing and remoulding into his own specific vision each release will contain a rework from osborn. if you are familiar with johns previous work you will immediately recognize his characteristic resonating percussion, the tune being a deep house sci-fi storm expedition driven by a full luscious kick covering the tracks of chords from unsettled pads. the eps title track has ambient sonic rays flowing through it, being aptly named dimensions it is also the records warmest adventure, distorted percussion juggles sparse subaqueous melodic moments, and from here we go into the 12inches final moment, chasing titanoid. reformed society goes in with full yet silent force on this one. a warped bassline co-creates the groove with a particularly bouncy beat with sharp strings piercing though.

slow glass is not only the debut release by le frère it is also a very personal diary of the last two years of his life. all four tracks are based on recordings, samples and ideas he collected while travelling the world. with the concept of slow glass in mind le frere tried to catch moments of his life without stripping them of their dynamic and evanescence. the ep starts with lots of positive energy and light but already reveals glimpses of the shadows that slowly emerge throughout the following tracks. nice is a lightly humming version of an (almost) innocent summer morning. it s a collage of field-recordings, synth-pads and manipulated guitar sounds. candid is a light and open dialog between a simple guitar theme and a playful synth-arpeggio. v1b1n creates the dense atmosphere of a rainy caribbean afternoon dominated by field recordings and everyday noises. nttt8-sets a counter point to the previous three tracks as the energy of le frere s travels cumulates in nttt8, making it a more dance-floor oriented piece carried by a dark and heavy bass-line and almost rave-sirens.

chicago damn is the latest esteemed producer to shore up at marcel vogel s intimate friends label, following the hypoleon ep with some forthright, sample heavy funk house concoctions that nod to his other work on wolf music and the like. -bunny hoppin- is a rowdy but soulful belter with a peppy tempo and an addictive line in looped up samples, while -flush- takes things slower and dustier without getting too lost in the undergrowth. -the truth- lays its samples out in bold, bright brushstrokes with a pattering, psyched out undercurrent for deeper, sunkissed moments, and then -tipsy- finishes the ep off in a playful tryst of re-pitched piano trills and scuffed beats.

swiss artist and veteran producer ripperton contacted the esp institute out of the blue mid-2017 to share a gorgeous mix of self-produced material, a collection of pieces made without any agenda outside of representing the self, not geared toward the dancefloor or a specific environment but simply a bi-product of introspective exploration. we were floored, the mix was on constant repeat in our world for weeks, then was subsequently pulled apart into separate titles to form this beautiful double lp, ripperton’s debut with the label. the title sight seeing speaks of someone stepping outside their current reality to look in the mirror, as if to ground themselves and keep sight of who they are in a world of extreme highs and lows. inspired greatly by expansive landscapes and views from airplane windows (imagine your commute flying over the alps every weekend), ripperton describes this collection as postcards to himself, messages from his subconscious recorded on tape (both conceptually and literally), melancholy soundtracks to the mondays that follow weekend journeys. while musical genres tend to cycle through bandwagon moments, the esp institute strives to operate independently of these, and while sight seeing is undoubtably an ambient album, we’re simply proud to revel in the chance moment where an esteemed artist such as ripperton spreads his wings in a beautifully unexpected mode of expression.

returning with another debut release, second circles eighth record to date comes this time from young viennese musician giuseppe leonardi. performed on an array of synthesizers and experimenting with spoken word and vocals from various local singers giuseppes tbc ep take us on a dance through the catacombs and out through the jungle floor with ritualistic rhythm and haunting song. whilst at other moments giuseppes horizontal ambient pieces leave us gazing out on the shores of a distant half-remembered planet.

after playing lovestar to death we reached out to see if sebastien was still feeling in an emotional mood. we discovered quickly that, in fact, this is where his creative heart lives and breathes. the two tracks featured here were conjured up (in a daydream we like to believe) in time to play out at all the summer closing events in the usa and on be tvs coverage at the bpm festival and our south american tour. already loved. already track id d and already to create more magical moments. enjoy!

10inch in full color tip on sleeve. musicians make albums. but in this case its different. the four tracks on this ten inch release were created in between. its an intermediate piece that sits between two albums, reflecting on a series of special moments and special evolutions of black flower.

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

acid paulis album bld dropped earlier this year and was a superb reminder of martin gretschmanns unique place within the electronic music. breathing musicality and adventurousness into everything that he does, the album covered a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. following on from the a remix package, b brings another huge selection of producers into the fray to reinterpret the originals. first up, hamburg hero stimming works over ‘amadou - flipping the original, into a techy bomb. a thick kick underpins a shuffling, off kilter rhythm and beautifully treated melodics. stimmings feel for gently pushing the dancefloor into new places shines through. ‘rené is reworked by roman flügel, the ongaku/klang/playhouse boss whose influence on the european electronic music scene has been immense. always willing to experiment, ‘rené is the perfect canvas - arpeggiated blips and beeps echo primitive electronic explorations by the likes of francis bebey, and a huge subby kick drum take this track into space. alex boman sets to work on ‘jeanne, locking into his signature groovy, tribal approach to working the dancefloor. the swedish producer adds dubby elements, an irresistible percussion track and disruptive, random sounds to the thick, heady mix. dutch wunderkind satori tackles ‘jorge - twisting the original into a psychedelic groover that finds room for backwards vocals, marimba-like melodies, fat basslines and shuffling breakbeats.

the album is titled timespan and is by the veteran pittsburgh artist shawn rudiman and will be released on november 24th worldwide on 2xlp and digital. the album is a carefully curated journey through almost 20 years of shawn s music productions. the tracks collected here--the majority of which have not been heard outside of shawn s studio--showcase a producer with seldom matched knowledge of studio techniques, while also hinting at his world renowned live performances. having access to a vault of hundreds of unreleased compositions, we believe this is an important step in documenting shawn s contribution to pittsburgh and american dance music. * artist statement: -all of these tracks are simply snapshots of my life moments. they go from base-level warehouse to more cerebral sophistication. so, take them as such. timespan sums it up well. some songs are almost 2 decades old, some are fresh. it s a paragraph written with words that have years between them. somehow they still all sort of make sense together.- - shawn rudiman

temperatures are dropping and we re all feeling the effects. bordello a parigi is letting the cold winds of the north swirl inside its doors with russia s volta cab bringing a fresh 2lp to the table. a spread of influences come together for the eleven tracks of rise again. take -emerald s phantasy-, a piece built on layers of percussion that blends elements of disco with notes of techno. -dark room- is a different affair. arctic chords are cut with electro and distant vocals for an unsettling treat. -kruger- stomps to a terse beat before lush pads bloom in a work that builds to dizzying peaks. warm blasts balance these colder moments, the rich grooves of -savage fury-, the floor filling funk of -board scandinavia- and the removed romance of -sweet exorcist- all show another shade to the volta cab sound and of course there s more. rise again is an audio collection of vibrant colours and hues, tracks pitch from icy blues to autumnal ambers and fiery reds, a musical kaleidoscope that stretches across a spectrum of styles.

dj koyote has long been a dab hand at discerning house music. thankfully, his latest offers more of the same. seeing the light of day on his own supergenius records imprint, france n trance sees the french producer perk up with no less than five original cuts, each of which boasts its own inimitable charm. opening up the release is the sounds of the title track. a melancholy effort full of warm, hazy vibes, its skipping, playful ethos is characterised by its twinkling, charming melodies. a smile-inducing track that s sure to prompt delirium on the floor, it gets us underway with some distinction. hey baby sees the producer opt for more uptempo strands. featuring a killer hip hop vocal sample and a series of off-kilter elements, it s a completely different proposition to what s come before - albeit one that emphasises the producer s knack for the unpredictable. just a young thing sees the producer hark bark to vintage chicago times with a jam that could well have been lifted from trax s back catalogue. full of booming kicks, claps and snares, this one plays out like a modern interpretation of a classic armando joint. the quite expertly names ladonna is an exercise is peak-time funk flavours, before business class sees us out the door with another track that suited to the night s most fervent moments. an industrial-tinged track of techno persuasions, it s a hot and heaving effort that s as likely to leave you in a cold sweat as it is reaching for the lasers. there s no doubt about it - koyote s latest is a triumph from the beginning to the end.

rich nxt returns to fuse london for his 6th solo ep and it is perhaps his most crucial and striking material yet. these tracks have been destroying parties around the globe all summer from daytime to night time, club to warehouse, all three are certified bangers. from the ridiculous baselines of brigade, the beautifully uplifting vocal of serious and the effect of the synthesis between natural and artificial drum sounds on eight, each track combines moments of twisted raving with crystal clear breaks and heavy drops.

vinyl only - limited to 200. after a short hiatus, blossom kollektiv returns with a brand new limited edition vinyl release. this time around industry veteran, matthias vogt, presents his voyeur ep. no stranger to the label, his latest features three deep and melodic cuts with one remix of the title track from tanzlife v id ensemble. starting things out with “voyeur,” we move into beautiful soundscapes that truly tell a story though its lush melodies, while still packing enough punch to get the crowd going in the right moments of a set. followed by tanzlife v id ensemble’s interpretation, they bring a more traditional deep house version replacing the lush melodies with more club ready synth stabs and pads while reworking the composition for the peak moments in the club. now flipping over to the b-side we start with rubin a track full of sunny time vibes. this is the type of track that you’d love to play during the cold and dark months to bring a little temporary sunshine without it actually being sunny. rich deep pads are paired here with uplifting synths and a classic deep house arrangement to bring bright vibes anytime of the year. finally finishing things off with the comeback, we get something a little different with its tribal percussion and once again feel good vibes but the standout here is mathias’s display as a classically trained pianist, which he displays wonderfully throughout the track. one thing that is clear through his years of music composing experience in electronic music and beyond is you can expect finely crafted works of art that work both on the dance floor and as tools to spark your imagination.

daniel avery returns to phantasy for a 4-track limited edition 12inch vinyl ep, slow fade, featuring the title track and first single from his much-anticipated sophomore lp, upcoming in april via phantasy. a prelude to the lps sonic exploration of the twilight world of a personal, transient life spent between clubs, hotel rooms, airports and home, slow fade captures the expanded foundations of averys sonic palette. arresting club moments linger under the surface, but the focus is on the smudged ambience that underpin averys grasp on rave euphoria. as a re-entry into a broader musical universe, slow fade is immediately compelling, combining neo-acid, feedback loops and pure atmosphere at a patient but restrained pace. meanwhile, after dark alters this aesthetic to its raw, pensive elements, stripping avery’s distinctive drums completely, revealing a meditative, ambient fog. radius announces itself with industrial intent, before unfolding seamlessly into a wistful electronic hymn, the perfect soundtrack to brooding london skies, and eventually evolving into slow-motion motorik. closing the ep, fever dream finds avery at club tempo, but in a somewhat agitated state, on this occasion focusing on a paranoid rhythm that emerges clean from eerie, even paranoid territory. close your eyes, press repeat.
