back in 1995 while living on the west coast, at the peak of the rave experience, dj spun and dhyan moller recorded a bunch of live tracks, without any sequencer, all direct to cassettes. spun aka jason drummond, reached out last spring after rediscovering all the cassettes and asked us if wed be interested in releasing some of the tunes. jason shipped us the cassettes and after a good transferring session, we decided we had to release all the tracks under a 3lp set. this stuff is fire. we still love dj spun and dhyan moller!

hot shots of reggae is an recording on which a bunch of popular reggae songs are brought together. the album was originally released in the autumn of 1970 and compiled by the legendary chinese-jamaican producer leslie kong. he had enjoyed many hits in in europe and selected some of the true pearls from the reggae music to shine on the album. the album includes the maytals hit monkey man, the sparkling so much love by joe white and the fine rythms of ken boothe�s freedom street. the influential producer leslie kong once discovered jimmy cliff and recorded him on his own record label beverley�s. in 1962 he recorded bob marley�s first single and through the 60�s het became known as the producer of many big artists, like desmond dekker and joe higgs. he died of a heart attack, at the age of 38, in august 1971.

things tend to move in circles until they are complete. such is the case with wph ten-8. when fcl released their �cherry pie e.p.� on kai alcé�s ndatl label it was already decided that kai alcé would find a home on wph as well. and with his absolutely stunning string of remixes of recent years in mind it made sense to ask kai to take up remix duties for a new fcl release. . the result is a release that oozes soul all over. the original track is fcl�s �let�s make a track and have great singers aka lady linn and gustaph singing about house music�-moment and kai�s remix is�well�simply another amazing slice of soul from the man that can do no wrong. it�s house music�as you should know it.

new glasgow electro and techno label tremors presents our first vinyl release - aftershocks volume 1, a collection of remixes of tracks from our bandcamp releases. the a1 comes from electro legend dexter, a man who needs no introduction, remixing old boy s tracer. next up is james shinra (analogical force) one of our favourite contemporary electro artists, remixing arctor memory gene. on the b-side we have patrick walker (forward strategy group) remixing arctor s selfish lover into a slamming acid techno banger. rounding it off is relatively unknown hungarian producer david harleydson who has been self-releasing highly impressive electro albums through bandcamp. he has applied his own unique style in a remix of arctor the gulf.

this is something in between underground & commercial in a good way... patricio cabezas is an experienced musician and producer, born in chile but lives and works in sweden. after years as a touring bass player, he dedicated himself to start programming synthesizers and producing electronic music. in his music, cabezas embraces the grey zones and in-between-ness that formed him since childhood. he approaches music the same way, discovering and experimenting, almost hybridize genres and moves between live and programmed performances. in 2015 the tom ep was released under his alias this other space on tasteful nudes/argot. cabezas is also working in collaboration with dagfest (paper recordings, bearded man, melodica) and 95kbps (krater).

kim rapatti a.k.a mono junk presents the second volume of finnish electro all-star on his dum records imprint � active since 1992. the new release is the latest chapter of mono junk collaborating with friends, recently with mesak and freestyle man. the a-side of finnish electro all-star (dum-040) features collaborations with top finnish electro duo morphology, who recently released an outstanding album on firescope label. electro por favor is a pulsating driving electro track with a killer bassline and vocals by rapatti � electro at its best. raw, apocalyptic, solitary remix by mono junk follows the original. the b-side features collaborations between mono junk and a very special guest: goner a.k.a. martin maischen, who is known from many hot releases as the other half of german electro act sandbenders. they were at most active around the millennium and made releases for force inc. music works and science city. the two included tracks are deep electroid techno excursions made last year in berlin � very cool stuff.

this is a rare gem of a record from fantastic soul band the soul kids stemming from the democratic republic of congo, including covers of james brown & the mighty flames hit singles -lickin stick- (1968), -papa s got a brand new bag- (1965), wilson pickett�s -hey jude- and a french vocal version of otis redding�s soul hit -respect -. this amazing young band, which released only four 7inch singles and one album, is a great example of the influence of soul music and french pop bridging to the new afro soul scene that the musicians of kinshasa were involved in during the time of post-independence. ngoma was one of the first record labels intent on providing local artists recordings from both sides of the congo river to the people of the drc and west africa. created in 1948 by a greek man by the name of nicolas jeronimidis, the ngoma label was active through 1968, pressed in france until 1971, with a tremendous catalogue, including this historical and essential soul masterpiece!

walter gibbons, a true master of the mix, a disco legend, a pioneer of dance music. theres literally very few who can lay claim to progressing the artform of studio mixing and technique than the late gibbons. his contribution to contemporary music cannot be understated, first as a dj where his drum laced experimentation captured the ears and minds of his peers and the dancers, then later as a mixer and studio genius where he continued on his quest. often fixated on the percussion and breaks within records his versions would often dive into spaced out, dubby and stripped back territory that very few of his peers were even contemplating at that time, fervently reconstructing the tracks themselves and often the time, space and dancefloor within which the record was being played. a true original, gibbons was behind many of the definitive versions of the classics, his unique style often catapulting records that were just fine in their original form into brand new colourful, cosmic interpretations that flourished sonically and rhythmically with brand new sounds that bristled with vision.

the man, the myth, the legend, back in the 80s jesse rae, along with roger troutman and bernie worrell, was part of the p-funk movement that was hugely influential to detroit�s early electronic experiments. lesser known is that the enigmatic scot-funk warrior later produced underground electronic tracks in the 90s. the inaugural release on glasgow label southside shufflers presents two of jesses shufflers on vinyl for the first time on the global 95 ep- a sampler from his pioneering 1995 album compression. ever the innovator, jesse recorded the album collaboratively using live isdn technology spanning three continents, with the resultant tracks fusing african, us electro-funk and old scots influences. 23 years later, jesse�s under the radar shufflers sound more relevant than ever. southside shufflers are a record label and sports collective based in glasgow with outposts in london and amsterdam. sss aint no half steppin!
