limited double a side reissue of two classic disco bombs by 70s keyboardist don ray. with production duties undertaken by french electro-disco legend cerrone, both tracks are proper dancefloor weapons laden with heavy synths, bouncing b-lines and awesome punchy horns. first up is the amazing groove armada-sampled disco stomper standing in the rain, featuring powerful vocals over a searing groove that made it massive at the time. flip over for got to have loving, an exhilarating disco burner with hot sexy female vocals and a great breakdown later reworked by the revenge. superb double-header of must-have tracks - dont sleep!

with its hq in rural germany - rockets & ponies is a coterie for the outsiders - those too strange for the normal business with an ethos that fosters freedom of expression, experimentation and an avant-garde approach. so who better to present a remix package of works by jazz luminary wolfgang haffner that includes ricardo villalobos & max loderbauer, nightmares on wax, and label padrone timo maas.

with *closer* masterton debuts on blackfoxmusics 19th release (bfm019). *closer* is a warm track with a deep groove and beautiful melodies. it relates to living in a long distance relationship and overcoming a lack of proximity.
robert babicz (babiczstyle, systematic, bedrock records) created an incredible remix. he used lots of the original melodies, combined them with new elements, added rolling drums and a thick bassline to give the track the extra drive. his remix became a constant part of his live sets and was debuted with great response at grelle forelle (vienna) and ritter butzke (berlin).
channel x (stil vor talent) remixed *closer* into a pretty cool and clubby deep house track. you can feel their berlin origin when listening to the groovy bassline with variations of the melody. finally the breaks capture the mood of the dissonant sounds from the original track.

following his well received fabric mix comp in december 2013, ben sims returns to his own theory imprint with yet another ring release in the form of *reflection*, which features two original new tracks, a remix from rod and a vinyl exclusive. the eponymous opener is a strident, 909 + 707 driven affair that fuses overlapping, stereoscopic tones to a gently distorted and brutalist groove that sits somewhere between dance mania and detroit. *break glass* is the second original on offer and has been a heavily requested track for the past few months. the perfect partner to *reflection*, *break glass* is similarly overdriven but heavy on the sort of mechanical funk that sims does so well. rods version of *reflection* is a linear assault which ebbs and ows with purpose throughout a linear and intense arrangement while sims remix of *break glass* zeros in on bone rattling percussive aesthetics and vox samples, in much demand after featuring on his fabric mix cd.

torrebros (numoment recordings / komplex de deep) is a french duo delivering in melted faces a subtle collage of samples and original floating textures. melted faces original mix reminds, by its driving beats and low-slung bass, the early nineties detroit moisture. borrowed identity (mistress recordings / quintessentials), a german-romanian producer, which last productions has been released on dvs1s new imprint mistress, gives here his layback and savoureuse interpretation by rearranging the original sample groove. dj steef (retrofit / gomma / numoment recordings), the mysterious french producer, finalized the ep with 2 more deep and downtempo remixes with a catchy and seductive rolling bass perfectly seated on a powerfull drum loop pattern.

concealed sounds return with a new 12 for 2014. this time around we have invited our friends from mysteries sylphe label to remix the title track by martinez, and they delivered a monster! on the a side we find >consolidation (sylphe lydlos dub)<, were we are taken a true journey thru sound and rhythms for about 13 minutes. the remix kicks off in a kind of tracky way, with a strong focus on the irresistible groove laid down by holdie gawn & micawber. after the first small breaks and manipulations to the groove, we are introduced to some very trippy modular sound design. these sounds takes the lead of the remix and forms into small melodies in a very organic way. while you can still sense the ingredient from the original track, sylphe takes a slightly different directions and offers a good opposite to the original with their own special twist. the original version of >consolidations< is presented on the b side of this 12. its a dirty groove ridden track that goes on for well over 10 minutes, developing from a broken groove into a more danceable techno pieces, with its shattering metallic sounds, bubbly baselines, deep layers of sub rhythms and lush pad chords to give it some more atmosphere. two very different version of modern instalment in techno music. we hope you enjoy it as much as we do… and as always there is a special hidden track on this 12.
