having been a long-term admirer of arovanes work, it is with some excitement that touchin bass brings you its latest release. arovane is an internationally acclaimed composer and pioneer of electronic music who has already contributed so much to the electronic scene to date. the late 90s saw his first 2 eps atol scrap for din and tides for cco which gained him a degree of notoriety and acclaim mainly in germany and then throughout the world in the idm, ambient, and electronic music scene.

meda fury presents *remember every moment ep* by pearl river sound. fury continue to bring the heat with their first release of what could quite possibly be a banner year for the label. pearl river sound is the moniker of italian musician roberto semeraro. based in rome he emerged on the scene with a cassette release on the seattle label further records. after a further cassette release on indole records which again explored his classic 90s electronic and idm influences, his media fury debut sees him bring in some 4/4 beats to channel classic deep house sounds without losing his signature pure and melancholy sound.

the third issue of raw waxes’ release number four is on the way. after featuring mike parker, haiku, inigo kennedy and korova as remixers of the noisemaker, this time we see abstract division and blind observatory reinterpreting ‘shuttle’, the final track of the series. shuttle starts with a fat kick and a psychedelic synth, bleep and acid elements go back and forth, up and down, appearing from the gloom of the artist’ soul. hi-­&#8208,,,hats, acid and bleep evolve together, embracing acidity and generating a naughty groove. abstract division’s reinterpretation is clearly a 4/4 dance floor oriented. based on the evolution of the acid patterns as a minded loop, the dutch duo adds 909 hi-­&#8208,,,hats and claps, modify the the kick-­&#8208,,, bass structure, reaching a trusted track for exciting moments into clubs. blind observatory’s remix is the gentle side of the record. starting slowly and lightly, the artist sets a mellow synth plus clean hi-­&#8208,,,hats, turning the production into a sweet idm caress. a personal, delicate cut appraising the entire release.

the second release of inkblots involves three great artists deeply active into the international techno scene: the japanese go hiyama and the berlin based duo i/y. on side a, go hiyama’s first track ‘recur’ delivers sinister atmospheres matched with a tough kick and industrial bleepy elements. slow and paranoic drones get in and out contributing to enlarge the sound perception. the second track ‘prop’ introduces elegant hi-hats and strident synths. a captivating kick perfectly embraces the shrill synths waving together with the sharp drum, what remains of the first side is just tense ambients, forewarning the journey is not over. side b smells like a dark club firing up, indeed i/y’s aim is not different at all. ’thesys 0000.001’ debuts with a thin bassline and distorted grave surroundings. the track evolves with clean slap hats sound in an empty echo chamber. deep timbres rise and fall, turning the entire route gently aggressive. the second track is an idm experiment which keeps a trippy approach and the clarity of claps and hi-hats. solid as the first one, ‘thesys 0000.003’ sets itself as an hypnotic but pleasant moment where suspicious fragments quickly appear and disappear: a sparkled trip to be enjoyed anytime but not by anyone.

the shoes crew pop up for this one-off 12 inch that mixes idm tracks from the 90s with afrobeat tracks to killer effect. two tracks, experimental but still very accessible and danceable. a super combination, much like the original afro perculator was. out just in time for christmas!
