nice price deal !!! raw waxes continues the release number four with one more original track from the noisemaker. the edition 4.2 is enriched by the remixes of korova, duo who were protagonists of our first release, and inigo kennedy, old school artist truly appreciated by raw waxes. on side c, point x15 advances as an acid robot going ahead with swollen broken baselines covering sinister and rough ambients. the rhythm gets darker and nimbler as far as the stylus moves on the decks. on the side d, korova delivers the mirror of their hypnotic and straight techno soul. drums play hard, ambients are kept happily enjoyable, while the acid synths and chords go with the flow embellishing the original version. inigo kennedy’s reinterpretation seems to come from early ’90 productions on missile records. acid elements and palpitating hi-hats, followed by the syncopated bass drum, gradually fire the minds up and accelerate the roll of weird but deep moments. pure industrial machine guns.

the seventh modal analysis release comes from athenian producer and dj, anfs. following his remix for kondaktors signal 1, anfs returns to the label with his debut release, ground, a four track ep which consists of original material. borrowing sounds from early twentieth century folk greek culture, the ep is dominated by a rhythmic canibalistic spirit and a noisy distorted cue. ground 1 functions as an introduction, or rather ones initiation to the mystic rituals that prevail. the artist uses drones and distorted textures which increase in ground 2 and are backed up by drums that beat in a hard-and-slow ethnic tonality. ground 3 reveals a paroxysm of emotions which comes as a result from the combination of basslines and vocals that create a complex and twisted vortex. the trip ends with ground 4, a more stripped down monotonic ensemble that serves as an epilogue and a catharsis.

the supremely talent william burnett makes a belated return to emotional response, and this time he s got brooklyn-based studio pal john beall in tow. those who enjoyed the duo s release on the l.i.e.s. white label series should lap up shimmer. it hits hard from the off, with -snaker charmer- delivering a velvet-clad punch to the guts. it s techno right from the top drawer, with darting electronics and drawn out pads riding a thunderous groove. the title track is impressive, too, with surging electronics and throbbing synths riding a techno-tempo groove crafted out of an old hardcore breakbeat. there s some more considered fare on offer, too, with the shimmering ambience of -hold me take me leave me- completing a superb package.

the new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from baltimore debuted their full length live show at the wolf + lamb marcy hotel this march. following in the footsteps of greats like nicolas jaar and pillowtalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary brooklyn proving grounds. life on planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. it was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that s now been signed to the double standard label. life on planets has also released music through better on foot, where the debut single apollo made waves in early 2014. the touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

taken from a mysterious acetate cut by derrick may in 1987 this release was originally penned for kms offshoot pheerce citi. both these sides were later released - the darkside = as a relic (by longer than long ago) and tic tic tic was later released on the limited edition compilation as music institute 20th anniversary as untitled. both tracks are however, very hard to get on vinyl and have now been re issued as loud 45rpm pressings in pheerce citi artwork and remastered for 2014. great techno obscurity!
