copenhagens echocord colour returns this mid november with brendom moellers magic city ep, featuring four originals from the new york based artist. brendon moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 sweetspot / humpback ep via echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as third ear, kimochi sound, delsin’s ann aimee, mule musiq and of course his very own steadfast. here though moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for echocords colour sub- label. caravan takes the lead on the release and in typical brendon moeller fashion were treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. magic city’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. ‘magic city in dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. lastly,departure closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition

echocord returns late june with a new release, joel alter under his jor-el alias, entitled ‘tilted reality’ and comprising three originals from the swedish artist. currently based in copenhagen, sweden born producer and dj joel alter is a name synonymous with the contemporary techno scene on both his home turf and across the globe, his back catalogue to date features a long player for the uncanny valley imprint, solo ep’s for d’julz’ bass culture, sweatshop and collaborative works for kontra musik alongside henrik johnsson amongst much more. this time round though we see alter return under his jor-el guise under which he first started releasing material on dj hell’s internation deejay gigolo imprint. up first is title-track ‘tilted reality’ laid out over seven minutes with a slowly unfolding dynamic feel, encompassing spiraling atmospherics, distorted rhythms and blooming stab- sequences. ‘elevation’ follows and takes a more direct groove-driven approach via straight four-four percussion and hooky bass chops, whilst tension building pads and fluttering dub echoes gradually build around the foundation. ‘solitude’ closes out the package deliving into deeper realms with soft ethereal dub chords, acid tinged leads and emotive strings.

aero lines up next up for all city’s gurriers sub-label with shelter, his first physical release following a string of well received digital-only singles. the dublin techno stalwart delivers 4 diverse cuts steeped in dancefloor tradition whilst forward facing in sound and intent.

2019 repress - first recorded in 1983 under the name visual, boyd jarvis s cut the music got me is one of the first true house records. a staple on the 80s new york club scene, the visionary instrumental dub was played everywhere from the paradise garage to zanzibar, dance-floors packing to it s mix of throbbing bass and wooshes of analogue synth magic. at ransom note we ve long been obsessed with the record, so when house hunting s aiden d araujo interviewed boyd - and found out that we could license it - we jumped at the chance. now, we present the music got you sounding bigger and better than ever before. remastered from boyd s original tapes by keith tenniswood at curved studios, the music got me is pressed on limited edition, heavyweight vinyl for clarity and bass pressure. complimenting the original release come 2 completely new mixes the first is a dubbed out masterpiece from edit-king nick the record alongside dan tyler of the idjut boys. between them they take the essence of jarvis s original and tease it out into a cavernous disco killer. next up comes bawrut man behind ransom notes debut release, the nu-acid anthem ciquita. bawrut does what he does best, throwing in latin percussion, layers of screwball 303 burbles, and a sense of joy, all whilst keeping boyd s original bass groove rolling.

matt edwards launches stranger in the night with his first solo material since 2017. the rekids offshoot will release regular music by four artists, namely radio slave, king britt, anthony rother and fred p, who will each drop three eps over the next year. “with rekids being 100% focused on releasing music for dance floors i felt the need to create a new platform to explore a wider musical vision and invite some of my all-time electronic musical heroes to be a part of the series,” says matt edwards. both numbers near the 12-minute mark but each track portrays a different aesthetic. opening with precision drums and crystalline notes, ‘ground control’ makes a nod towards the hi-tech soul sound of detroit and drives forward using a sultry bassline, erratic chords and the occasional icy stab as an array of contrasting sounds operate in unison. on the flip, a syncopated rhythm lays the foundation for ‘last communication’ whilst a tantalising melody joins poignant synths, constructing a profound and hypnotising journey.

2019 repress - this year kevin saunderson, ann saunderson and paris grey, collectively known as the legendary band inner city, release >future<, their first entirely new material since parting company in 2001, written and produced in collaboration with another detroit legend, namely kenny larkin. the track marks a welcome return for a group that combined the tough, futuristic grooves of the detroit scene with the vocal energy of r&b and gospel and helped to define the period in which house and techno moved from underground phenomena to top 10 material, paving the way for hundreds of dance hits to come. >future< is devastatingly catchy and highly emotional, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. masterfully re-edited by carl craig this track ascends to a higher place whilst kenny larkin is on remix duties, beautifully reworking the original into a techno infused monster with intoxicating staccato vocals.

the second release on oflynn s hundred flowers label comes from up and coming artist soundbwoy killah - and follows on from his sold-out releases on sneaker social club and warehouse rave. the a-side burning was a highlight of mall grabs most recent boiler room and is a straight up breaks banger destined for dancefloors. whilst the b side moving on takes on the same formula, in that it too is a stone cold banger.

dmitry distant’s side of the record sees a journey through abstract soundscapes, hefty dark atmospheric techno and electro, rounded off nicely by a dark funk injected remix from sweden’s obergman. all made live with machines, dmitry’s tracks are the authentic type of electronic music the popular scene would have you forget. no surprise then that his live schedule is taking him across europe including a gig alongside the mighty rude66 and luke eargoggle in berlin.
lectromagnetique takes you on a ride through some edgy, acidic and melancholic broken techno experiences. whilst many seek to portray that cold, sci-fi, and industrial vibe in their music, few get to draw on the experiences of living in the pripyat region on chernobyl’s doorstep. as you listen you can feel and visualise places you would otherwise never dare tread or let your mind wander to.

2019 repress - sintope bosses ntfo return to bondage music this may to deliver a combination of digital and vinyl only productions in the form of their esperantza ep. following an impressive break through year in 2009, romanian duo dani and robert aka ntfo have since gone on to carve out an impressive resume within the world of house, with a series of releases on 20/20 vision, objektivity, diynamic and jargon making up a notable back catalogue. owners of their own sintope imprint, releasing material from themselves alongside the likes of revered parisian djebali and fellow romanian rhadow, the duo have garnered stand out support from ryan crosson, cinthie, vinyl speed adjust and arapu to name just a few, and having recently featured on the labels bondage games compilation in january, here we see the duo deliver a fresh four track ep that s set to become a favourite of many in the months ahead. title cut esperantza sees the duo go to work, fusing rolling, crisp percussion with rich sub-bass, before uppercut interjects, unveiling a production packed full of swing, reinforced by robust drum licks, skipping hats and sweeping synths. on the flip, the first vinyl only cut lux reveals a smooth, stripped back effort, with lush, deep pads floating effortlessly over hazy background textures, whilst the electro influenced avoid closing things out in fine fashion, as trickling lead lines flow amongst and intricate organic percussion patterns across seven minutes

2 sim is a phrase the references mobile phones with two sim cards to describe people of mixed heritage, dual nationality or multiple residence. after being called 2 sim in conversation with a stranger while on a walk through freetown (a recording of this moment features on the record) duval began to explore what the 2 sim experience is in contemporary west-africa. 2 sim ep was created from 2 months of field recordings and interviews with family, friends and peers in freetown sierra leone. these site specific recordings are collaged with solo piano recordings and production recorded in sierra leone and the uk. the ep is accompanied by a short film/ music video of the same name which duval shot and directed whilst making the record. 2 sim ep is the second release from carrying colour which follows on from 2017 s sen am -

daniel brandt, co-founder of acclaimed german ensemble brandt brauer frick, is set to release his second solo album for london imprint erased tapes on october 12th. titled channels, the new record follows the release of the london and berlin based producer’s solo debut eternal something from 2017. the seven-track lp is brandt’s biggest statement yet, with the album’s thrilling avant-garde framework interweaving chord-driven techno, orchestral flourishes, rich electronic textures and hints of dark cinematic pop. following on from eternal something, which captured a contemplative kind of isolationism, with channels brandt set out to create an album that captures the essence of minimalism whilst lending it to a more playful context. after performing and recording steve reich’s six pianos in a group of six, brandt began regularly composing long meditations on the piano, something that permeates the sound of the new record. its frenetic energy and shape-shifting identity was also born out of touring with his new band eternal something — comprised of brandt on piano, drums and synthesisers, pascal bideau on guitar and bass, plus florian juncker on trombone — and a desire to translate both the sound and spiritual unity of their live shows in which musicians locked together to create an intriguing meld of expansive works.

at the forefront of the irish electronic music scene, sligo-born berlin-based duo brame & hamo, aka tiarnan mcmorrow and conor hamilton, announce their hotly anticipated fourth ep, celebrity impersonator. via their own imprint, brame & hamo. the title reflects the duos personality and playful energy, nodding to their love of celebrity impersonators whilst growing up. we have a bit of a soft spot for impersonators as it is a pretty ridiculous way to earn a living. a bit like djing! our favs were those of tom cruise, bill gates, gordon ramsay and johnny depp. opening with ‘midnight express, the rolling melodics nod to the early sounds of prog house and italo, acting as a transitional opener to their signature trance via techno scores. on the b-side, title track ‘celebrity impersonator, is a moody four four that edges into the darker realms with their love of breakbeat shimmering through, resulting in a club ready anthem. melting down into a rolling trance groove with a late night heady feel, ‘request rhythm closes the ep. with an impressive discography of eps behind them on their own imprint - trants, club orange and the dj favourite, limewire, as well as bookings worldwide the irish pair are set to propel onwards from sligo to berlin and beyond.

this is a reissue of a short-lived and obscure uk dance music label. a compilation of tracks featured on releases across 3 ep’s between 1991 and 1993 incorporating recently emergent dub techno and progressive acid house sounds. nation of noise was conceived in the early 90 s, following a meeting of minds between the producer and ambient soho mainstay django, and vocalist jon martin (of pizzaman fame) at the legendary soho institution: the brain. plate 1 is a fully remastered reissue of the first nation of noise record - xes noiz, featuring 4 locked grooves. plate 2 takes two tracks off both the lockgroove and super bubble ep s. one side is smooth, after-hours deep house whilst the other reaches for two progressive, acid cuts. fully remastered.
