nice price deal !!! the 8th release on mindtrick records will be by the greek producer and sound engineer mobthrow. mobthrow just released his full length self titled debut album on adnoiseam and is now ready for his first 12inch release which will come out on the 5th of september. the 12inch brings a somewhat deeper feeling to the sound of mobthrow which is starting out with pitchblack on the a side. the 2nd track is flashback and is based in rewind mirror techniques (intro sample remains the same if you rewind it). heavy beats at 140 bpm. it is a story between dreams and reality, as the storyteller (mulholand drive sample) describes.

och pops up on baby fords pal sl imprint after a solid debut on autoreplys offshoot stuga musik. although the producer behind the och pseudonym remains mysterious for now, his early productions have garnered support from such esteemed figures as ame, norman nodge, gerd janson, dj sneak and anthony shake shakir, and this latest 12 inch is, in our humble opinions, ochs best yet. the standout track here hogs the entirety of the a side, with >bombay bedbath< characterised by some beefy drums and a drowning, late night soul vocal which complements the rolling groove. flip over for two wonderful b side obscurites, namely the rich ambient textures of >interlude intuitive< and twinkling piano lines and moody atmospherics of >out of key in<.

michigan central station built in 1913 for the michigan central railroad, was detroit, michigans passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913 until the discontinuance of amtrak service on january 6, 1988. at the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world. the building, located in the corktown district of detroit still stands today, though it remains unoccupied. restoration projects and plans have gone as far as the negotiation process, but none have come to fruition. spread throughout the city of detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area, the decay of once magnificent buildings during the industrial revolution and automobile era now cast a shadow of despair on a once flourishing city. these monuments of achievement now lay barren and forsaken by city government. infrastructural restoration and city development are fundamental elements in detroits recovery, and the recovery of cities worldwide. it is time for revival in our cities, but first, in our souls. the michigan central station ep is a platform for this change.

mugwumps geoffroy and kolombo have been on a continuous roll since we heard them last year on kompakt with their genre defying breakthrough 12inch single >fears inc.<. these belgian sensationalists have had a series of monstrosities including maxis on endless flight, cocoon recordings, gigolo, throne of blood and the hit >everything remains/parser< on the legendary r&s imprint. we missed them and if you can tell from this single, its obvious they did too!

the environmental radiation dose on the moon ep is the first collaboration between zooloft and aconito records. the two labels are twinned in exploring the limits of techno, experimenting with structures and sequences and ultimately arriving at the place where the deep and dark sublimes. the ep opens with the child that was watching the moon a track lifted right out of the drone-techno hymnal. it starts with muddied, subterranean bass and builds not just outwards but inwards. filled with obtuse references and metallic rasps the atmosphere created is obscure and spectral. on the reverse the moon that was watching the child sounds like its been exposed to radiation. the sounds are distorted, as if created from samples of the genome unzipping. the arrangement is stunning, bells filter in and out and the layers smelt into one another. there is awe at work here, but its an awe that remains underpinned by terror. this release, mastered in berlin at the legendary calyx studio, is something of a record collectors dream. it will be released on solid silver vinyl in a very limited edition of just 200 copies. za000ltd should be enjoyed on wax, this wont be available digitally.

detroits eric johnston who has already brought archipel a remix of marc neyen and an ep on kalimari now brings us a superb four track 12 inch entitled >silly girl<. this whole package is a highly rhythmic affair which while darkly tinted remains very funky. >stop calling me< is the most percussion oriented of the pieces and instantly sucks you into its very well thought out labyrinth of sky high rhythms which are layered just so and double dipped in liquid funk while >labrador< strips things down a little more and wraps you in blankets of warm and rubbery groove. >worth it< carries on with the perfect shuffle and utilizes a wonderful blend of warmth and funk which take hold of your mind and feet with an unrelenting grip while it ebbs and flows, building a heated story as it progresses. >munted< could be three pieces in and of itself but blends them all expertly into one single solid storyline which takes you through mazes of juicy percussion and excellently placed, darkly hued, very deep chords.

technopassion presents a single from george le nagelaux that is a musical stroke of genius: >das dunkel spricht< (the darkness speaks), a lovely composition of dreamily-dark synthesizer sounds which meld perfectly harmonic with a contemplative vocal. the austrian master remains true to the techno spirit and combines the ensemble with a irresistible, hard as bone bassline and a solid pumping groove. the original mix is the perfect tune for turning the dancefloor into a boiling pot during the prime time. the dub version is slower, but not less driving and will enjoy great popularity among the devotees of smooth sounds.

here comes edwards follow-up ep. this time he goes a slightly deeper and more direct. it might be the purest music we ve ever heard from the berlin-based producer. all the crazy clubgigs are manifested into hi music now. of course still with the classical edward style somewhere between dark minimal and trancy deephouse aesthetics. >bush of crows< is somewhat of a siginature edward track. but a very rough one this time. with a comfortable paranoia, this track unfolds itself into a little peak time extravaganza. on the flip, he cools everything down with a warm house tune called >the ghetto< and he adds a certain >blockparty romantic< to it... b2. is once again one of those more minimal edward tracks were he masters to be on point with just the core essence o sounds. edward remains a real romantic for sure...

incredilbe package with remixes by schatrax, kink, todd sines as .xtrak, kink and the subliminal kid. the result of schatrax take is a typically beautiful and deep reworking. todds remix of dodaso is typically fucked up and funky in true .xtrak style. kinks version of the gauntlet remains quite faithful to the original whilst also instilling it with his own trippy and unique style. last year peder mannerfelt, aka the subliminal kid, sent me a track which became the only track released on off-key through a demo submission. blackwood freestyle has mutated under the hands by the subliminal kid into a rolling dub inflected groover.

for the second time, kadebostan opens up an oriental sound bazaar on fenou with the souk e.p. and feeds us with musical delicacies. on side a he charms us with a virtuous sounding clarinet like a snake charmer decoys the hissing reptiles from a basket. our hips are swaying softly and smoothly under this hypnosis to a beating rhythm and repeating bass lines. on the flip he reveals the veil and involves us in a world of foreign sounding magical music. it is a miraculous mixture of charming vocals, gently, but firmly beginning rhythm and oriental guitar and piano scales. what remains is a moment of magic.
