we are proud to announce the first release on the shop’s new label house of love vinyl with a strong ep by long time friend of the shop modaji. side a kicks off with the sizzling ‘razzle dazzle disco’ gyrating the house grooves alongside vocal demands that provide a nostalgic setting with a modern thinking twist. ‘times change’ is a thriller killer for sure with it’s metro area like hooks. on the flip there’s more of the same with “i wanna go dancing, i want to go have some fun” as the main hook for ‘lisa at the party,’ whilst transforming us back to strobelights and dry ice filled dancefloors. ‘headwork’ closes the ep off with a straight up jacking swinging groove supplemented with swirling pads and sharp stabs. this is one ep not to be missed.

shadowy multidisciplinary artist & videographer denial.of.service returns to film for an extended ep of wrought iron electronics, channeling the spirit of classic electro, industrial & noise. the artist, active since the 1980’s producing video work for a host of high profile names - including not least david bowie, currently transmits sporadically from an undisclosed location, though contemporary work has appeared on the creators project, as well as making the vimeo staff picks on an almost regular basis. recently, video commissions for minimal wave & jealous god affiliate in aeternam vale have ap-peared online, showcasing the artist’s trademark crushed, hallucinatory visual aesthetic.

after a successful first collaboration for a 12inch in 2016, zimbabwean mbira maestro jacob mafuleni and his wife percussionist / singer martha thom have teamed up once again with french electro-funk producer gary gritness, this time for an album recorded in paris during the last red bull music academy festival.

a-side discomix, one of the rarest and best wackie s 12inches, b-side previously unreleased wicked 70s roots! killer vintage bullwackies! the happy love song was originally released on a tribesman 12inch, one of the least known but most killer wackies 12inches of its day. a propulsive rhythm is behind the group licking back the tune cut by the iq s in jamaica a couple years earlier. the b-side was retrieved from tape, an unknown vocalist extolling the virtues of the roots rock reggae coming from wackie s studio in the turbulent new york city of the 1970s. a must have for all wackie s diehards, another level of the pyramid unearthed, and more to come!

the first release on youth - a new label from andrew lyster, comes from portland based artist yard. hailing from the dark woods of the west coast of the united states, yard brings together a collection of tracks from the archives alongside some new material. canopy and white fog were originally released on the album deciduous flood plains, and have been reworked for this release. marshall acid is pressed to vinyl for the first time having previously only been available digitally via event horizon. yard’s gritty sound evokes a spectrum of gnarled city life to organic atmospheres. the release comprises of field recordings, micro-cassette mangles, bass kicks, a live jam between x0xb0x and a modded tr-606 and water drops percolating through the mixes to get that urban hum and grit running up against the forest.

during the mid-1970s, the aggrovators could do no wrong. this ace team of session musicians that was forged as an off-shoot of the soul syndicate were responsible for some of the biggest hits of the decade, recorded with bunny lees rising stars, such as johnnie clarke and his rival, cornell campbell. following on from the great shalom dub set of 1975, rasta dub 76 is another truly magnificent dub set culled from aggrovators hits (by johnny clarke, cornell campbell and others), this time, the entire album was given a scintillating mix-down at king tubbys studio by the great prince jammy, and the sonic excellence has stood the test of time. another must-have for all connoisseurs of dub.

the next set of the japanese musical tales on hhatri s imprint comes from takecha (aka takeshi fukushima), a producer who has played a part in creating some of the seminal pieces of house music that have originated from japan. his music is characterised by the perfect marriage of experimentation and emotional content. for those that know, takecha s first ep kind of deep released on his own imprint, gwm records, in 1995 is a secret gem among japanese house music collectors. only 100 copies were ever available and it is a subtle reminder of what and how deep house should sound like. takecha provides no less in a tale of shiga four gorgeous tracks that provide some insight into his own creative, albeit humble genius in his approach to producing music. fresh off the press are three previously unreleased tracks with the addition of freak out. released in 1998. tip!

understate:ment s debut on yydistribution opens up a new chapter within the notorious mannheim-paris connection, as berlin based label head, tolga top, steps up for his first solo ep. state003 , is a dancefloor dazzeling three track journey, influenced by grooving acid-house and hip hop inspired breakbeats. being backed by a slamming remix from the gathering affilate, nick beringer, makes this a must have for all the dancefloor twirlers.

thomas schumacher is finally back on noir music with another outstanding 2-tracker. over the years me and thomas have become great friends as we click on so many levels and share the same taste in dark, melancholic and emotional music. i have been a big fan of thomas’ music for many years and i am still a great supporter of his productions today so obviously i am honored to release his music on my label again. on these 2 tracks thomas has recorded 2 authentic and raw tracks with a no holding back, zero bulls*** attitude. you can hear the “no formular” approach on both and i love that. we had an honest and creative back and forth a&r process on both tracks before and after testing them in the clubs and this has given both a unique and fresh techno sound. this is thomas schumacher’s natural rhythm.

tone depth has been making music for many years but he doesnt seem to get older...... he just gets better and better. this is his 2nd release on noir music and i can assure you there’s more to come in the near future. “escape” contains 3 instrumental and very intense tracks. they are all cleverly build for the underground floors. they each have their own special signature and carry that powerful tone depth production level. each track on this ep immediatley made me “escape” into the music, took me on a journey and captivated my attention throughout the running minutes of each piece. i have been playing these tracks since the day i received them track by track and they really do grow on you (play for play) like great music always tend to do.

one of jamaicas most highly-rated vocalists, alton ellis made an incredible contribution to the islands popular music. blessed with a particularly emotive voice that brings shivers to the spine whether singing original material or cover tunes, ellis was born and raised in trench town, the west kingston ghetto area that gave rise to bob marley and the wailers and countless other singers. ellis and singing partner eddie parkins hit big in 1961 with the ballad muriel for coxsone dodd, and after parkins moved to the usa, ellis teamed briefly with john holt, and then began fronting the flames harmony group. he excelled in the rock steady style, christening the genre with rock steady and i have got a date, bouncing between studio one and treasure isle for a number of years. from 1971, he spent increasing period in london, but continued to record hits in jamaica for various producers. the 1979 release love to share was arranged by the great studio one keyboardist, jackie mittoo, who co-produced the album with junior lincoln, founder of the london-based bamboo label, the disc straddles the line between lover’s rock and roots reggae, remaining a lesser-known classic

2017 repress due to high demand and crazy online prices!! santuri s embaire umeme ep got a worldwide premiere from gilles peterson on a never-ending quest to support and exposure far off musical cultures around the world, the next on the corner releases sees them look to uganda. teaming up with santuri (an east african electronic music innovation project) and soundthread (a creative development non-profit), they have worked alongside the mugwisa international xylophone group with modern recording techniques and further re-arrangement on two remixes. the first, by sam jones, was premiered last week by stamp the wax, and today ushers in the second by alejandro mosso. a thudding kick drum at the first beat aims this one straight towards the early evening dancefloor. working in unison with samples from the giant wooden xylophone and conversations between the musicians, serves to place the track back into its original context and is allowed to settle for a couple minutes, before what sounds like a kora or zither brings a far-eastern twist. with the slow-burning, steady elements of a balearic production and the beguiling hypnotism of steve reich s work this is a big worldwide favourite.

fouk are finally back on heist after their great ‘kill frenzy’ ep in 2014 and have taken mount liberation unlimited along for a remix. we’ve been waiting patiently for new material, challenging the guys to take the signature ‘fouk’ sound to the next level. fouk’s brilliance has been obvious on recent work for their own label outplay and razor ‘n tape, as well as their respective solo projects. we’ve kept a close connection, teaming up whenever possible for heist showcases, with highlights in amsterdam’s “claire” and paris’ “concrete-. seeing their work and enthusiasm made it abundantly clear that it would only be a matter of time before they’d show us what the next step would look -or better yet- sound like. anticipation ran high but boy, do fouk deliver. the excellent ‘with lasers’ ep still very much portrays their own style of loose, live percussion and many layers of funk, but they’ve expanded their vision and even toughened up a bit. their new taste for grit and an interest in the heavier side of funk is probably most evident on the opener ‘f3000&#8242,,,,,, where a thunderous arpeggio is supported by distorted drums and lush cosmic synth stabs. title track ‘with lasers’ is more of a classic fouk track, combining a lovely walking disco bassline and their signature drum programming with… erm… lasers. lots of them. the b side ‘see you on the other side’ sets a different pace, carefully blending guitar licks, rhodesy chords and vocal chops into a lovely groove that feels just as carefree and improvised as it feels exciting. swedish synth nerds “mount liberation unlimited” ran with it and transformed it into a dreamy -pepe bradock goes balearic- track where airy echoed guitars take turns with some equally dreamy and evocative pads.

galaxies in our universe seem to be achieving an impossible feat. they are rotating with such speed that the gravity generated by their observable matter could not possibly hold them together, they should have torn themselves apart long ago. this leads us to believe that something we cannot see is at work. this strange and unknown matter is called “dark matter” since it is not visible.
dark matter affects the speed, structure and evolution of everything, yet its nature remains a mystery we are yet to explore. this potent, affecting darkness is paralleled in dewalta s newest creation, a double 12“ vinyl release on amphia.

next up on the docket for acid camp records is a record created by duo john tejada and justin maxwell. the pair came together to make acr iii with two things in mind: creating sounds that put a smile on their face while possessing as much character as possible. the opening track, -i ve got acid (on my brain)- is a mind-bending wavetable freakout, the likes of which tejada and maxwell have been striving to do for years. using a vintage ems vocoder to create an original vocal sample, this track is bright, playful, & vivacious. -the name rolls in- is layered in an acid playground of sounds. a rhythmic track with a potent 303 bass line, prominent percussion, and that infamous vocoder back at it to create a distinctly groovy track. -field notes-, is a composition of celestial arrangements that is completely beatless. carried through by tiers of sounds, filters, and noisier elements, this track lulls the listener into an alluring sonic dreamscape.

following the meeting between masomenos, vadim svoboda and m hamed el menjira, abdessamad boussahfa and sanhaji, cosmo records is once more exploring the crossover between western electronic music producers and traditional african instrumentalists. this time around the casablanca-based label is welcoming a new artist to the fold. cesar merveille has been active in the european house and techno scene for many years, releasing on labels such as cadenza and visionquest while always pursuing his own unique creative agenda inside and outside the conjines of club music. cesar s recent adventures have found him launching roche madame, a label for his most personal and expressive work. in the spirit of this exciting new phase in his career, this release for cosmo jinds him working with the captivating tones of senegalese vocalist malik diop across a range of tracks that capture the crosscultural spirit of cosmo. -kosmos- is a thoroughly delicate production, using intricate threads of percussion that fall in intriguing, fractured patterns behind the layers of malik s voice. the melodic content follows this hypnotic format, drifting in and out of earshot in a playful key that speaks to west african traditions even as it transmits through contemporary synthesis.

related artists red axes, lena willikens, khidja, autarkic, boot & tax key selling points il est vilaine arent from brittany, but they sure are tricksters. the francophiles among you might have caught on to the corny pun in their name (beating a certain presidential candidate to the punch all while turning the name of the pastoral ile-et-vilaine region into, literally, hes a nasty woman) but the real takeaway is that these born-and-bred parisians dont take themselves too seriously especially in an era in which there is much too much of that happening.

while carefully handling their respective careers, postponing then their obvious collaboration, möd3rn trio s members have capitalized its desire and now deliver its mere substance, in the rightest moment, where, simply, all the distant forces converge. the six daring, expert hands merge now into a unique entity, unanimously moving within the same effort towards techno music. the formula is elaborated freely: each one s adjunctions -subtle keys, nervous chords, underground blows, rhythmical uproars- pour into a thick maelstrom, opaque, condensing detroit s grieving sensibilities as well as last decade s bewildering cacophonies.
