der hintergrund für das release geht auf ein kunstwerk von jens standke zurück der in köln damit in diesem jahr seine abschlussarbeit an der khm bestritt. es geht um die fertigung von >vinylaktiten< (vinyl tropfsteine). aus ca. 140 schallplatten erstand jeweils eine skulptur bei der wellenformen auf das vinyl per fräsung in separate formen übertragen wurden und ihre tonrillen optisch abgetastet wurden. der optischen tonabnehmer nahm über 800 sounds ab. salz hat sich aus der fülle an klängen bedienen dürfen und hat mit sehr viel aufwand sounds destilliert und bearbeitet und so in eine form überführt wie sie im kontext von dub techn. sinn macht. sie haben somit aus den fragmenten wieder ein ganzes gefertigt, man könnte von musikalischen recycling sprechen, gäbe es diese kunstform. das kunstprojekt von jens standke hat salz enorm inspiriert und so dürfen wir uns auf ein einzigartiges ergebnis freuen welches den verlauf vom musikalischem rhythmus bis zum rauschen beherbergt. das stück trägt den namen, >technofaktur dub< auf der rückseite veröffentlichen wir zum ersten mal auf vinyl einen dub remix den salz für minilogue aufgenommen haben.

r&s keep things in the family with mpia3s brother tessela dropping his debut ep for the label. since 2011, ed russell has been moulding a style of dance music as tessela that has evolved to become a distinctly futuristic animal that is equal parts rave, jungle and techno as it incorporates classic breaks into delirious new mutations. the three tracks on this ep all follow on from his superb *hackney parrot* track but evolve his sound even further. nancys pantry combines bruising kick drums and some slick editing of the think break, before plunging headlong into thundering techno. horizons percolating hi hats and rough-hewn percussion roll off repeating chords that recall the heady days of rave. gateways uncomplicated arrangement of high hats, sub bass, siren like synths and quaking kick drums rattle through the tracks chassis and club soundsystems. early supporters to the tracks include ben ufo, pariah, surgeon, pearson sound and paul woolford, testement to what might be tesselas most lethal offering yet.

a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.

one listen to the crystal clear rapture in the sound of bodhi(cardiff 24 year olds olly howells and luke welsby) shows a heavily funk-influenced take on dance music, akin to many of the uks current crop of genre owning electronic artists (see disclosure, blawan, bondax). the response to their enchanting, dancefloor-ready vibe is already demanding considerable attention, with a bondax tour support under way and the likes of xlr8r already tipping these boys for big things.

cambridge resident samuel emerson iliffe, aka ill life, is driven by a penchant for warping things. akin to warping his sonorous surname into the ill life moniker, he warps formely innocuous techno fare into a clangorous, concussive march of living, breathing percussion. samuels sonics seemingly owe a considerable amount to recent innovations from the likes of blawan or perc trax alumni, however his only fault is taking part in the phenomenon of synchronous innovation. before karenn coalesced, before clouds newest offerings started being rinsed, ill life had long since moulded his sound. it is infinite machines infinite regret to have discovered him so belatedly. but there is no use crying over spilled trax.

seb zito steps up to the plate for the next release on fuse london with his never ep. title track never delves deep with a moody atmospheric groove whilst sub dubs 111 toughens things up with a stripped back flavour. on the flipside, remixes of never see enzo siragusa and rich nxt inject a d&b style b-line whilst ben rau brings a melodic vision to his version.

on uncanny valley s catalogue number 18 we finally welcome back credit 00 who is a man in charge of a decent collection of those dusty machines we all love. after the ice cold the living room life ep from 2012, his brand new record ice cream is easy to fall in love with. packed with tunes to suit various moods in life, it will be a faithful companion in dark basements or lonesome hours. ice cream starts deliciously with its sleazy sample choice. with the distinctive drum work it builds up to a true chicago-inspired dance floor banger. round n round hits hard with a harsh kick and cowbell action before it shows off slightly melancholic lead synths and a subtle but effective bass line and puts the emphasis on the fact that things go round and round. life s a dizzy affair. east of nowhere with that bass line-sound is credit 00 to the core. and with spooky synths he puts you to an east of nowhere-place where you will lose yourself in manic trance-like dancing. the record ends with red wine , a slightly different electronic love song sung by credit 00. the cover artwork was created by alexander dorn.
