new york experimentalists sheik n beik continue on form as they follow up records from japans keita sano, legowelt & xosar and jeffrey scott with a bold and atmospheric 12inch from jerry riggs & maxwell church a.k.a hermans. hailing from toronto - hermans specialise in their own brand of esoteric techno that lends them perfectly to a release on sheik n beik. their things change ep slots neatly into the catalogue with its blend of spooky melodies and analogue drum work. diana (how youve changed) kicks things off with an infectious vocal loop and juddering drum patterns. brooklyn’s max pask then follows up with his take on diana which sets 909 drums over a thick, burning acid line. endless toil then follows up with a tightly wound groove built with metallic whacks and frazzled, flexing synth tones. forget the past then brings the package to a thumping close as manic synth lines dart between crunching drums in another strong addition to sheik n beiks catalogue.

based out of san francisco, extra classic is a unique live band formed with a keen appreciation of vintage reggae & vintage sounds. the aesthetic, and certainly the skilled method of their production, is an ode to the art of that classic style as referenced to the term coined by the cool ruler himself. recording in their own studio, nopal recording, the band employs a taster’s choice of analog equipment and is devotedly tracked, spliced and mixed in-house direct to tape. however, as the group’s name itself implies, there is a dose of something extra and new in this swirling mixture of space echo, heavy phase, and emotive, psychedelic california-soul.
built upon the rock of an early-era dancehall swing, their first single in conjunction with brooklyn-based imprint names you can trust entitled in this life, is a perfect slice of lover’s rock gone sideways, a decidedly left-coast piece of roots and bliss driven by adrianne delanda’s lovely lead vocals and the steady, dusty echoes of the locked in players. presented in the traditional format with a version as per nyct fashion, the dub mix incorporates a soothing dose of synare beams and underwater instrumental dreams.

opening things up, the sinister title track is a dense, winding affair built around staggered tribal patters and powered along with a brooding reese bassline. he/at’s “set openers” have become something he is known for and this is definitely one of his most dramatic. after that madness, “it’s impossible to describe the smell of a wet dog” strips things right down with subtly chaotic-timed rhythms and synth-work. kind of minimal...but not.
on the flip side, “a drama out of a crisis” is a straight-up new-meets-old techno stomper with early beltram-esq beats and modulated melodies, before the ep closes out with the rawness, “the man who made husbands jealous” is a tough acidic kind of work out with an infectious hook we think you’re going to like.

new sounds from an old friend... i d been running franklin de costa s records for years, but after i played for his party in berlin a few years back we kept in touch. he runs a club night called mother s finest which puts on artists like tessela, truss, untold, dj fett burger and more, as well as releasing singles under his own name on labels like killekill and curle, and, as mudkid, beautiful tracks on greta cottage workshop. the three trax built for this ep on not so much are, like anything fresh and futuristic, hard to pin down in words. sssooo is a kind of detuned chattering b-boy cut that slides sideways between dimensions while always driving forward. mldk is another one for any dancers with moves.

illusory house and techno from new york native image man, following up a release on crucial newcomer label sunal/perabob with another four-track 12” of windy, paradoxical tracks built from samples and drum machine. “glance” shifts further into a weirded out but druggily decadent realm where he’s found looping the reflections of disco, soul and ancient pop samples into his own spaced and primitive euphorias, starting out with the slowmo downbeat of “more” before the more apprehensive rhythms of “else” end up filtering out into a pool of a reverberant samples that echoes out the second half. from the image man himself: “we trust in the sound we take for granted—the music wouldn t lead us astray, would it? emotions can lead us astray, the wanting to feel, the wishing of forever lasting, the pleading for change, the expectation of ecstasy. just a quick glance in the mirror.”

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.

the second release on the vinyl only series of apes go bananas finally drops. the label is the new imprint from steve bug and clé, who together make up the production team for the releases. as with the well-received first ep, all we have is straight-up, no-nonsense, dance floor-filling house tracks. lead cut ‘all we have settles right into the groove with crisp and funky percussion, chi-town chords and amazing vocal samples. its got peak time written all over it. she cargo makes its influences pretty clear via the title, and the track certainly references some of the iconic sounds of the home of house. thick, rubbery bass lines, squiggly synths and firing percussion combine to deliver a suitable a homage to the windy city. ‘ape parade is built from some similar materials, but the chords are a little more lush and deep - synth strings and keys add a sense of the epic, and everything is tied together with a sick kick / snare / hat pattern. three modern killers for the floor, infused with the spirit of classic house.

he might be an architect by profession, but in his spare time spanish producer jaime tellado sets forth his work with the construction of groove and the design of soundscapes. under his skygaze moniker, he’s built a name for himself far outside the scene he’s grown up in. with his ‘some fun’ ep, once again showcases his well-structured yet wild-flowing melodic groove, combining deep bass with an ambient touch.

californiabased producer damon bell could not find a more suitable home for his new 12inch than croatian label burek. its his first one since blues for the libyan lp released in 2015. for deepblak, and it sounds as if the time off was well spent. two words that perfectly describe this record are rich and colourful, and the description is equally applicable to all three cuts. stand by me is a synthheavy piece built around the interplay between tracks rougher sounds and big lush pads. on the flipside, life is slightly faster and more direct, with a wonderful guitar part that circles around the main theme throughout the most of the track. similarly mannered, but slightly more intense transatlantic journey? we been here! is the last piece and features an infectious groove with lead synth piercing through layers of delicate arpeggios playing in the background. all in all, it feels good to have damon in the team. we hope youll enjoy this record

aus music bring a summer of firsts to a close as they follow up records from the newly collared recloose, trevino and paul woolford with another new addition to the team: tom trago. the rush hour regular joins the ranks with being broke - a bright and groovy four-track aimed straight at the dance floor of this seasons closing festivals. the a side offers up an original and dub version of the title track - a bumping house groove built with playful vocal samples and nifty synth lines. on the flip are two version of good lies - the first rolling out over its elongated duration with sharp, galloping hats and free-flowing rhodes notes. tension begins to develop as the track steadily snowballs gathering vocal snips and a menacing bass line while the good christian edit offers up a lighter, more early-doors affair bringing a nicely rounded package to a close.

invisible, inc now brings the aptly named spacerocks into the fold with the release of a 6- track ep that comes storming in from the outer reaches of a galaxy light years away (or just decades past?) into the earpiece of your unwashed spacesuit. it s hard to pinpoint what genre this actually fits into but if you imagine vapourspace s gravitational arch of 10 as interpreted by vangelis with drum programming by nitzer ebb you d be getting reasonably close. other influences may well include cluster, conrad schnitzler, chris & cosey to name a few, while comparisons can be made to contemporaries like solyst, musiccargo, barnt and secret circuit. spacerocks is a solo offshoot project from higamos hogamos main man steve webster (also fort lauderdale, the black neon, memphis industries, dc recordings). the project sees steve ditch his band and strip things down to his modular, vintage and custom-built synthesizer set up alongside equally rare and vintage analogue drum machines, sequencers and fx units.

roe deers is a lithuanian-based audio-visual project led by liudas and oskaras, two besties, often mistaken for brot-hers. we welcome roe deers to the omnidisc family. with their rush ep. its an impressive debut, built around metallic percussion hits, chugging post-punk attitude, tipsy textures and the sound of broken cuckoo clocks. ‘rush’ is a throbbing dance-floor excursion blessed with an otherworldly atmosphere. it s the musical equivalent of fin-ding a wormhole round the back of a sprawling industrial estate, and then stepping inside to have a look around. easing out the ep’s post-punk and industrial elements whilst adding a heady air of horror-influenced late night mysticism. breathe in the rarefied air, and then run for your life.

derek carr is a name known by few and far between, with only a handful of vinyl releases in the early 2000s, he built a worthy but unfortunately not widely-spread reputation for putting together stunning deep techno. originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on discogs, and rightly so, derek’s music is in a class of its own. having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner ben) leeds label geek records, for those that knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of dereks back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves, spread across three eps

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

recently appearing on the mighty crosstown rebels with a remix of shaun j. wright & alinka ‘face the truth’, sought after duo audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘turya’. turya is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘event horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic -amen- break beat style. in 2015 audiojack launched their sunday social free party at veto club in their home of ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. their first essential mix recently dropped on radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as hot creations, tsuba, 20/20 vision and their own gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. it’s safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

golden parachutes is a unique, collaborative musical effort comprised of stewart walker (us/berlin) and touane (italy/berlin). following five years of collaborative live-performances and techno releases through stewart’s persona records imprint, here the duo has decided to co-mingle their influences from afrobeat and progressive jazz into a boundary-free exploration. liberated from the constraints of repetitive, pounding kick drums, they unveil a new sound of timbral fluidity built-up from live and sequenced instruments. more than just music, their innovative approach delivers 43 minutes of consummate aural landscapes that pull the listener in head first. as the title ‘into the dark grey morning’ suggests the album takes you on a sweet atmospheric journey where melodic washes of colour and light flicker illumination into the dark clouds of monochromatic noise and reverb compositions, evoking fresh beginnings in electronic music... like a light at the end of the tunnel. as level records third long-play release, ‘into the dark grey morning’ is an unexpected turn away from the labels normal tendencies. with it’s live-instrumental melodies layered over sweeping electronic backdrops the album dips deeply into progressive rock waters and surfaces with a contemporary krautrock sound, logically delivered by a label from düsseldorf, the birthplace of krautrock music.

a side track ‘’1840&#8242,’ (feat. contrapunct) is the result of taking a violin built by jean-baptiste vuillaume in the year 1840, played by our in-house virtuoso now known as contrapunct and making a sample kit / sound kit with it yes, this means all the sounds you hear on this song are sourced from an old and beautiful violin. using original recordings combined with different manipulation techniques, the trio deliver to the plate over 12 minutes of intensity. one can explain it like this perhaps……….. you are high in the blue sky walking a high wire over an ocean of beautiful coral reef, still maintaining balance, but looking down at the view beneath and thinking- “if i got to go- there cannot be much better ways!

a multi-instrumentalist, robert was trained in saxophone starting at age 10, before moving onto a fender telecaster after high school. after being exposed to southern california rave culture in the late 90s, he moved onto djing and collecting records. by the time he planted his roots in san francisco in 2005,robert had built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances.

floating astronomical objects and the void in between – jon hester enters the dystopian circle with four gravity manipulating techno tracks coming directly through the wormhole. jon hester got his start in the midwest us, living in chicago, minneapolis, and connecting with detroit. after years on the dance floor he took to the decks, going on to work in a record shop, host his own events, and hold residencies that developed his sound. music production and a move to berlin followed, but dancing and mixing are still the inspirations that drive him to create. his dj sets are built on physical rhythms and adventurous programming, effortlessly combining diverse varieties of techno and house. with an engaging presence and a knack for telling a story, he builds a unique connection with each audience, and works any room until it sweats.

we are really proud and honored to present espectrum, a year-long effort to put together a compilation of the best dub techno. the idea was simple, but ambitious: ask some of our favorite artists for one track to epitomize dub techno—the style of music we’ve loved and continued to develop since our birth as producers and a label. with a very precise idea of what we wanted to collect, the compilation was carefully built with hypnotic, obscure, dense, and magical sounds with an eternal hook. these are the kind of tracks that will never lose their appeal, because they go above and beyond labels, styles, and trends, resisting the passage of time. after the first tracks starting coming in, the idea grew more and more special, and the concept even stronger. we knew we were onto something really big. and, finally, here it is.

on t you get fooled by the name of our 8th release! no up no down is the main title and the song itself is everything but linear. the organic percussion rhythms in combination with the warbling subbassline gets you into the groove from the first moment. the booming kicks and rough-hewn hats is lending a vibrant edge to the mix. a morphing ethereal guitar riff, filtered to the edge and the slightly insane giggeling vocal effects, carry you away in a chant-like hypnosis. nothing here feels like a static loop. it s a masterclass in restraint, tension built to breaking and then get resolved.

quite a few months have passed since adam port released his last original material on keinemusik. it’s been almost too long. but then again, every expert will confirm, you won’t see a “sonnenfinsternis” every other week. port’s new ep is going under the name of that very astronomical curiosity and accordingly, the like-titled cut on a can only be the result of a rare cosmic constellation. it starts with a spoken word field recording. could it be, someone secretly recorded parts of the internal pre-release labelmeeting? we’ll leave that to your imagination. but then, all solid facts. a forceful beat, decorated with hihat-hiss, stoically pounding synthbass, rattling snare-staccato and space-opening synth-layers. finally, some siren’s wailing, just in case someone didn’t get the immediacy of this material. classy floor substance, that is, with the scarcity value of an eclipse. “working for it”, as the first track on the flipside, is rather going for the deeper realms. this coproduction with jennifer touch, a singer/producer that just moved from leipzig to berlin, is built up on a cosy, warm synth-priming, that touch congenially contrasts with her undercooled wavy vocals. an emotional rollercoaster, if you will.

physical therapy makes his debut on spencer parker s work them records with a medley of club focused techno cuts. growing up in new jersey, physical therapy later moved to chicago, then new york, before finally settling in berlin where he s quickly built a profile as a stand out dj/producer. baktadust comes in the form of two tracks: the fast tempo main mix that combines peppy piano riffs and metallic effects, as well as a slower fried mix featuring cleaner chords and a sultry bassline. push me then demonstrates robust percussion, a rumbling low-end and eerie tremolo atmospherics before shadowy echoes and off kilter kicks conclude the release in spasm.
