dark entries is proud to release the debut album from bézier titled ‘parler musique’. bézier is taiwanese-american musician robert yang who is also part of the honey soundsystem crew. a multi-instrumentalist. robert grew up in southern california then planted his roots in san francisco in 2005. over the years in sf he has built an impressive analog synth-based studio. which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances. parler musique clocks in at over 52 minutes with 8 tracks are spread across four sides for maximum loudness.
dark entries and emotional rescue team up to further explore psychic tv’s acid house years. psychic tv was formed by genesis p-orridge and peter christopherson of throbbing gristle with alex fergusson of alternative tv in 1981. after various line up changes. the band shifted direction to dance oriented songs influenced by the house and techno scenes of detroit and chicago. by 1988 the group included dave ball of soft cell. fred giannelli of turning shrines and matthew best of carcrash international. during the summer of 1988 the group recorded a batch of songs at time square studios in london that would appear under the guise of various artists compilations jack the tab’ and ‘tekno acid beat’. the idea behind these ‘compilations of imaginary artists was creating a sense that a healthy acid house scene existed in the uk. virginia was the studio project of dave “mista luv” ball and then-wife virginia “gini” ball. a classical violinist who toured and recorded with siouxsie and the banshees and marc almond.
junto club kicked off snap crackle & pop late last year. and now the label returns with the debut solo release from london-based outfit deeds. while rollo and kiri inglis may have previously popped up on an obscure compilation on anti-ghost moon ray. this record should see their coldwave sound shoring up with many more adventurous listeners. video dreams is a beautifully melancholic slice of electronica while unknown reaches for euphoric heights. remixes from bezier and the field round the record out as a wonderful exercise in emotive home listening electronics for sensitive souls.

over the past years bézier has seen releases under the dark entries record imprint with the most recent telomeres ep this year. the title track 皆.... or pronounced * mina* translates from japanese to * everyone*. mina is a journey through space with the initial ascent marked by a moody window of time in which uncertainty dominates the mindset of the passengers. once they break through the atmosphere and are proceeding as planned they land on the final destination. an interplanetary discotheque. mina was recorded this year with mark pistel on the helms for mixing and features sf drummer kevin woodruff of tussle fame providing live drumming for the last portion of the track. along with the title track the b-side includes tracks previously released on compilations but appear here for maximum record playing enjoyment. * serengeti drive* which appeared on honey soundsystems earlier hnytrx compilation of queer dancefloor artists is the slow burner of the group. * mysteries of the deep* which appeared in the jacktone cassette compilation of bay area electronic stars is the soundtrack to an underwater expedition. both tracks were recorded. produced and mixed by robert in his home sf studio in 2009.

landing straight after 415-pr10. public releases first in a loose series of san francisco-centric compilations. this three-track 12inch is a further exploration of the bay areas sounds and aesthetics. though here its explored via remixes produced by friends from abroad. the a-side is a complete overhaul. reimagining. and extension of anonstops seaside by thee loving hand. tim goldsworthys solo moniker of choice these days. the ex-dfa records co-founder and former member of unkle took the tunes balearic foundation and used it as a bed for what one might mistake as a lost arthur russell cut from the world of echo era. joel wells lent his airy. light. sweet vocals to the track. while darren morris added synth work to bolster tim’s usual production genius. it’s carefree and emotive. the aural equivalent of a big. toothy smile. the flip features a mix thats a whole helluva lot more intense and uptempo. though no less positive than its original. chidas remix of domination is squarer and housier than beziers piece. which was glitzy classic disco dunked in italo. but enough of it remains to be unmistakably a spinoff. fiery and propulsive in the way a gulfstream jet is. its a ball of thunder that will electrify any set. any dance floor.
