french dj and producer, sebastien san, whos been releasing house records under one name or another for about a decade, has taken the next big step forward in his lauded career and started his own label. after releasing material through a venerable whos who of labels like planet e, poker flat, rush hour, we play house, and echocord, it only makes sense that sebastien take matters into his own hands and helm an operation independently. the imprint, cheekily called ab initio, will predominantly function as a vehicle for the man to put out his own records.

t.c. matic were a belgian rock band formed in the early 80s by arno hintjens and jean marie aerts (who would go on to produce albums by urban dance squad and absynthe minded). they played a mix of new wave, blues, funk, hard rock, avant garde and even some french chansons. their eclectic mix and experimental approach to music would have a great impact on belgian bands such as deus and zita swoon. their eponymous album t.c. matic from 1981 has their biggest hit >o la la la< on it, a song that can still rock the dance floors today.
it is a good thing music on vinyl is making this album available on audiophile 180 gram vinyl again!

in 2011 it got a little quiet around the co-productions of fraenzen texas and ruede hagelstein aka the cheapers. but since the beginning of the new year the lights dont go out in their studio doing beats and sound. next to releases on areal records and bar25 the uy063 was born. title of the name giving a-side goes back on a quote from paris hilton who wants to tell with >amazeballs< how super cool she finds things. anyway the two artists made it real with their concise bassline which will make the people reliably squeak more than hobby djane hilton. on the b-side things turn a bit more severe: egyptian summer quotes with samples the arabic spring in africa and produces a revolutionary ground mood which has never been heard before. on b2 however there are the cheaperesque absurdities on the microfon like we know them. depositing skillfully their own vocals in the belly of a hungry electro monster.

local talk is proud to present the first release on their sub-label 1nce again. this is where we bring back classic and forgotten house gems from back in the day with new mixes and reworks. with the second release on local talks reissue sub label, 1nce again we bring back one of our personal underground favourites from the golden age of house music (the early 90s). back in 1994 mateo & matos released an ep on black label records entitled raw elements, which included an amazing cut called >maw basics<. its one of those raw 90s house jams that got the house bump but without the pump, its rough and funky but still deep if you know what we mean? no cheese in sight! together with the original track (now fully re-mastered) we also asked gerd (4lux, ny stomp) to make a remix that would stay true to the original but still bring it to the next level. the result is absolutely amazing and we are pretty confident that this baby will deliver knock out punches every time it blasts through a massive sound system in a proper club.

while his debut album by your sides release was announced for september the 17th, breakbot introduces the fruity one out of two featuring the faithful vocal performer, irfane, embellished with remixes from dj sneak, oliver and get a room! the french tv show, le grand journal, selected this track as the sound signature for the cannes festival. the vinyl includes also program, a tiny biscuit sound, unveiled online on the occasion of his first live performance at the coachella festival. breakbots shiny funky pop will rock 2012s summer, waiting for the album and next live shows in festivals (calvi, dour, les vieilles charues, we love green).

michigan resident d marc cantu serves up his next album on the ever-excellent mos recordings on june 11th 2012. though essentially a house and techno producer, american cantu often goes further than most, calling on a world of influences to ensure his jacking productions are as far away from standard as possible, yet still do damage on the right dancefloors as have previous eps on this label, nation and crème organization.

next release on claap coming up and it is another gummihz affair! after his last release on claap head rush last summer was snatched by the guys at defected for the defected in the house series, alex is back with his next record aptly titled rejuvenation ep. this two tracker carries a pair of absolutely necessary house grooves. rejuvenation features an elegant arpeggio which builds up to an intense crescendo bound to hypnotize dancefloors the world over. intense but very elegantly produced it carries alex’s signature sound and explores a similar musical territory to secret voyage (claap004) which has received overwhelming responses since its release. the motif on the flip side remains similar but with a more mature soundscape, showcasing alexs endless sonic diversity. add a bonus beatzz extract to round up an essential ep for the open air season and not only.

the next gorgeous release on mad musician. this time frank muller presents the horizon remixes. horizon has been one of his biggest hits and one of cocoons & somas best selling vinyl re-released and new mastered. ulrich schnauss the master of electronica, funkdvoid the scottish king of techhouse, tigerskin as one of berlins busiest producers and beroshima himself. 4 remixes by senior master producers. each single name stands for an outstanding quality. the funkdvoid remix and beroshima mix has been remastered. those two mixes were released on soma in 2009 but not distributed in many areas. ulrich schnauss comes with a gorgeous techhouse mix and we are glad that ulrich will do some techno productions on mad musician. you all must have heard of tigerskin and his well crafted music. this outstanding producers comes with a classic floorstomper american style. the funkdvoid mix is still one of my all time favourites next to beroshimas skyflyer.

first up is tabou for the people by sofrito specials featuring l barrabas which twitch edited for his dj sets a couple of years back. the lovely people at sofrito kindly gave permission for it to be included on this release. its a relentlessly driving slab of 4/4 afro funk with horn explosions. next up is the 10th and final track in twitchs cumbia series. the first 8 were released on japans lets get lost label and the missing number 9 is being saved for a future release. colombias cumbia was born out of african influences. this track is based around a sample from colombian cumbia legend andres landero and is an attempt to fuse traditional cumbia sounds with up to date production styles. the end result is a slow motion hypnotic cumbia retaining the haunting melancholia inherent in the original sample. leading the aa side, twitch passed a wild highlife song by ghanas atakoru manu to glasgows super talented auntie flo (whose highly recommended future rhythm machine album recently saw a release) to play around with. auntie flo cut it up and added additional drums and bass to come up with this euphoric modern highlife groover

brazilian techno artist elton d releases his next ep on his very own imprint notle music. king davi ep is a sublime 4 tracker which exists out of 4 very versatile tracks. expect clear kicks, soul squeezing vocals and nice perc patterns. elton showcases his significant sound on this piece of black gold. where the ep starts dreamy with -dexave- it later gets more firm on the title track king davi all and all this is a release that fits anywhere in a decent techno set.
