the year is 2014 and were looking into the upon.you-diary again of which the fourth and most recent chapter has been written by our long time friend and stalwart producer gunnar stiller who has been digging deep into the sonic layers of our universe to unearth shining house-, techhouse -, techwhatever-diamonds perfectly reflecting the upon.you-sound of today

the cheapers are berlin djs ruede hagelstein and franzen texas. both are resident djs at watergate club, and call upon you records their home label. our friends contribution to the bar25 discography has been cooking for a long time, and now, finally, is ready to meet the light of the musical world. the title track, too late, is a cooperation with berlin djane and singer meggy, who has already seen success this year with re.you & rampa. the original is a soulful deep house track thats been freshened up with a tech-housy remix by smash tv. vinyl only, the cheapers have also added a particularly special track which features some dark sampling that the two artists refer to as gothic house

in 2011 it got a little quiet around the co-productions of fraenzen texas and ruede hagelstein aka the cheapers. but since the beginning of the new year the lights dont go out in their studio doing beats and sound. next to releases on areal records and bar25 the uy063 was born. title of the name giving a-side goes back on a quote from paris hilton who wants to tell with >amazeballs< how super cool she finds things. anyway the two artists made it real with their concise bassline which will make the people reliably squeak more than hobby djane hilton. on the b-side things turn a bit more severe: egyptian summer quotes with samples the arabic spring in africa and produces a revolutionary ground mood which has never been heard before. on b2 however there are the cheaperesque absurdities on the microfon like we know them. depositing skillfully their own vocals in the belly of a hungry electro monster.

they live in the clubs, eat through their noses and sleep standing up. the cheapers do the same, but the title no groupies and ugly dancers is directed at the mean faced ravers and talkers that lurk in the dark corners of club. the cheapers are sending a message to all those types with this release, upon you 36. they begin by lighting a bonfire on a1, dancing around the fire like crazed polka-shamans, until the final minimal priest has thrown his bible into the embers. next they attack the unwashed go-gos, hobby strippers and ugly dancers on b1. eventually reaching out and apologizing to the shy and quiet real music lovers that like to sway dreamily on b2.

the travel reports of the wilderness ep part 1 & 2 follows a documentation of a time when the cheapers were together in a dark vault and they were only attending the on going outer world through a >white hole<. in chapter a1 they report about the mondane mess that interfuses through the small opening into their facultative dungeon. they aim towards their profile and fill their surface with melody and intoxication. b1 describes basseruptions in front of the white house and while buzzing, pouring oil onto the strings of their piano, to proove the efficiency of renewable soundenergies. their mission was succesfully kept a secret until rising winds released the manuskript blowing them out of the darkness to the cd of the current groove-magazine. finally all parts are official and available on upon you records.

once upon a time there was the wilderness ep part 1. what follows is the second band of this futuresque music fairy tail-continuing the journey through the dark forests and gardens of the cheapers in which the >hunter< on a1 claimes his territory and eagerly is looking out for bass-devils in heat. thereby the fun drunken rifleman shoots down the rave-bird and even a flock of house-sparrows are being stampeded into the underwood. on the other side of the forest play the busy intricate bees in the vaults of the >fortress< on its mystical fantasy plug ins and a bewiched quake is coming through the deep b1- cracks until the magic tree of dreams starts to flourish

after the big success of their debut >fog + frogs ep<, the cheapers are releasing their second ep on upon you records.

the upon you 006 is the birth hour of the berlin duo fraenzen texas and ruede hagelstein. knowing each other since early childhood they started their dj career together in berlin. by now they are resident dj’s in the watergate club and the two build their studio into the epicentre of the upon you empire, so it is not surprising that the cheapers has become the first own label-act. related to the style of their dj sets that they prefer to play in ping-pong fashion, the fog & frogs e.p. is focusing on the contrast between dark shallows, hypnotic currents and enlightening moments full of fantasies and plenty of inanities. two tracks that stand for the amplitude of their future productions

the diary, an upon you compilation, is the third of its kind and presented as a retrospective. featured are a collective of ancestral artists like marco resmann, onno, magit cacoon or gunnar stiller, as well as external ones like chris wood & meat, alland byallo, canson, skinnerbox, madmotormiquel und ante perry. compiled by the cheapers who gave their track memories for this project which is also the name giving track of the cd.

upon you records has finally reached the big five-o thats right - 50! regular releases old, and to celebrate we are inviting you into our musical swinger club. while our upon you artists usually work their way up to a musical orgasm on their own, this time they have doubled up for a nice old gangbang of massive proportions. gunnar stiller and marcus meinhardt are tag teaming on a1 with their little winner >feinherb< and are leaving out the foreplay and get straight down to it. then we have nico stojan and the cheapers who are finger banging the buttons and levers for >railroad< on a2. flipping the side over we find our dutch-danish buddies onno and mathias mesteno and let the puppets dance to some sweet house beats with the track >puppets<. finishing of this vinyl masterpiece are marco resmann and ruede hagelstein with >monday<, once again proving how tender they can be if necessary, blowing out the last candles with a touch of saxophone.

upon yous first release of black gold in 2010 is a compilation shared by the cheapers, mathias mesteno, channel x and onno. the cheapers have given us a track that is slightly more technoide than what we have become used to, with an absolute bass beast called madame sans merci on a1. mr. mesteno has given us the second part of tante dunkel (once again paying homage to one of copenhagens most illustrious night creatures) with this house track. the first part was released on our last home sweet home compilation. after flipping the vinyl, b1 unveils channel xs last offering before releasing their debut album on stil vor talent”in the beginning of 2010, making us all the more pleased about this dependable club track. b2 is reserved for our dutch colleague onnos kicking tech house track that shows that upon you know how to start out the new year in the right way
