we at finale sessions are excited to have mor elians added to the finale sessions family . mor is one of the younger generation artists that we have been keeping our eye on for sometime now. hailing from tel aviv and now living in los angeles and berlin and now travelling the world bringing her style of forward thinking house and techno so lets get with the music and we start with the track the orionids one of my favorites of the ep with its bouncing drums and the industrial flexing pads and the filtering synth s that give it the deepness for days. then we move to the second track light pollution another proper deep rendering if i may add and those high hats that just move the track into the proper scenic vibe, very minimal but to the point with the pads just poking its head out to go forth with the flow of the vocal. last but not least we have echopark-this track closes out the ep with its very bouncy acid sounds and it s minimalistic drum patterns makes for a very melodic sound. we at finale sessions want to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts and we love you very much

definitive tech house talent nick curly is back with the first of many exciting new releases for 2017. entitled amnezia, it comes on 8bit, his most long running label, and packs a real punch. by now, curly has a refined signature sound that keeps people dancing all over the world. his productions continue to come on esteemed labels like truesoul, drumcode and hot since 82’s knee deep in sound, and he remains an in-demand remixer as well as busy dj who plays everywhere from ministry of sound to timewarp mannheim to warung beach club. also keeping busy with his own events series trust, this german tastemaker has never been busier. the standout title track is a robust affair with tightly coiled drums, slick and funk inducing hits and lots of building tension and masterful release. it is the sort of locked-on groove that keeps floors pumping for days. the excellent ‘second lick’ is less physical and direct and instead goers deeper. it is riddled with emotive synth lines and has train track drums and perc that you simply cannot ignore. with rich and rubbery sub bass propping up the whole thing, this one is sure to make a mark. this is another landmark release from nick curly that is sure to be the sound of the spring and summer to come.

james dexters star has been rising for a while now - the young brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received dj sets. on his second outing for dessous recordings, dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor. lead track drift is typical of dexters flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout. take me is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from chicago. ‘whose rules ?’ is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world’s best club systems in the coming months. the light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of djs. the last track of the release is disco deep - and it pretty much does exactly what it says - a swung, groovy feel punctuated by disco claps and balearic flourishes that will sound as good on the beach as in the basement.

sliding into french press lounge’s second 12” in a reasonably priced used car on rain-soaked tarmac is hollywood, fl producer saki. known for his famously crispy, nearly-obliterated sound and rude-dude attitude, saki pulls down the gain (and the sun shades) to provide four hazy coastal house tools fit to blast over the comm system above the lazy river, relying on a no-frills hardware setup (homie needs floppy discs to even play a track!) and a rough-and-ready live recording policy, complete with abrupt endings.

after some releases on several interesting label in the techno scene, reform make return to etruria with their strong new ep called “checkmate-, which includes two remixes from the soma talent charles fenckler and the belgian amelie lens . first original is a melodic track characterized by hypnotic synths which interchange everytime in the arrangement and also dirty and powered drums. amelie version’s express exactly her style, giving to the tracks something magic with the vocals added, making a very true and enigmatic game of chess. second original instead is dominated by a strong pad, which fill up the mix, blowing up in the break and giving an epic feeling to the ensemble. charles’s remix is techno with no excuses: raw powerful and groovy, is the perfect end for this pack, giving a much more underground touch to the release.

acclaimed russian producer, dj and live musician kito jempere is back with a stunning second album, this time on italian label hell yeah. entitled sea monster and due for release in early 2017, the nine track album is a fantastic fusion of live instrumentation and electronic production. kito jempere is a musical polymath. the russian artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist and band leader has been involved in many projects over the last ten years plus. these range from rock to acid jazz to electronic bands and often call upon a rotating cast of other members who are all equally talented. from playing in small bars to headlining big shows for thousands of people in saint petersburg, he has put out a number of albums and singles on labels like freerange, room with a view and hell yeah and djs around europe. jempere plays live as the kito jempere band, and here he calls upon his bandmates for their many skills to lend the album a richly musical feel.

who whom is a new label curated by scuba. the artists are various, the sound particular. the second 12inch comprises tracks by isaac reuben, glaskin, palendrone and markus suckut and is titled heavy on the magick.

four thirty two, the new record label directed and curated by richy ahmed, reveals its second release this spring with a fantastic new single from luca cazal. out on vinyl, be alone is backed with collaboration with italian producer, andrea fiorito. cazal has previously released music on crosstown rebels, classic music company and his own see double label, and once again displays his house music credentials on this four thirty two release.

the practice of pseudoscience, a three track ep by m parent, is the second vinyl release from the us based label chem club records. having been inspired by peripheral thoughts about pseudosciences, this ep is washed in steady emotional build ups using airy reverb, scattering percussion, throbbing stabs and solid kicks. the title track (a1) uses these elements to move towards a piercing synth peak while cycle of intellect (a2) spaces out these features as it creeps to a dubby impactful end. the b side temazcal rites was directly motivated by a scorching summer day when the intensity of the sun sparked an idea for a sizzling percussive experiment. what were left with is a funky but emotive soundscape that tops off the ep in a unique fashion.

after a blistering end to 2016, rhythm section intl begins its 2017 schedule with a second outing from peckham duo fyi chris. sitting firmly left of centre, these 4 tracks manage the very difficult task of being both unconventional and highly functional. highly recommended for fans of similarly difficult-to-categorise artists such as red axes, axel boman and baba stiltz.

the second release of samulis own label continues the analog excursions and direction set on the debut release. all tracks are recorded live performances executed with analog machines only. raw and functional techno without compromises. play it loud.

side a: indochina, people, nature, instruments - this is -my trips-. it s a story about far places and smiley people. the other 3 positions on the release are booked for -musical gili- - hindu temples and incenses which let us to zone out. the second track on the side a is an atmospheric remix from jacek sienkiewicz s hands, the owner of recognition and one of the oldest cocoon recordings players. on the side b we find -musical gili- in original version and michael wolski s remix with a strong technical accent at the end. wolski is our man from international day off and technosoul.

slam city jams is back with its second release, produced by young brussel based artist kassett. this multi-talented dude not only makes great music, but also does visual arts (look at that amazing fanzine coming with the record) and has his own label & artist collective called midlife. kassett aka gavin vanælst isn’t about genres, but about emotions when it comes to his music. however, asking him what he would call the sound he makes, his simple answer is: rave ambient. the all i feel 1 million ep‘ is a record full of diversity. it reaches from emotional and dreamy, arp-based ambient tracks with rave and trance references, to broken beats, weird synth solos, up to a rough but melodious techno tune. finally the cherry on top of this special ep, is a remix by lobster theremin regular imre kiss. he delivered a dark and dubby version of the a2, that sounds like it was recorded underwater.

amsterdams cult producer and dj steven van hulle aka awanto 3 likes his samples vibrant, his drums wobbly and his synths sweaty as a detroit summer breeze. the mpc wizard returns to dekmantel delivering his second, full-length album. gargamel is arguably his most compelling piece of work. spread over the course of nine tracks, van hulle shows hes capable of serving up many different styles and genres in his ever-expanding arsenal.

informationstechno was released on cassette in 2014 via zeon light and it was nominated for best swedish dance album of the year at manifestgalan 2015. during 2015 the band received attention from swedish radio p2 and p3 and performed a series of gigs at home in stockholm. the second album informellt was released on lamour 2015 and a remix album called reformellt released early 2016. motormännen make information techno infused with an air of swedish nostalgia through a filter of retro-futuristic skepticism. the music is packed with minimal acid loops and samples with excerpts from swedish politicians, documentaries and christer glenning, reflecting on times when the cold war and the traditional welfare state were dissolving. inhibitions were relaxed and new, foreign influences crept into the body of society and the old information monopolies. motormännen s tracks are visually enhanced by messages from pictures and videos from the 1970s and 80s.

office vol. 10 ! versatility has got to be iron curtis second name. there are only few other producers on the electronic scene who are able to display such a variety of musical facets as this talented man from berlin. with his maple ep he underlines his reputation of an artist with many faces as his new release is quite a box of surprises: rarley have we heard iron curtis in such a dubby mood.
beginning with the straight and bass centered title track maple iron curtis moves on to the almost beatless and moody collision and the chord driven dub house of entago entery and finishes the ep with the delicate, ambient encore reset me on b2. with its impressive display of variety this record is a celebration of reduced, understated dub techno performed with a distinct musical flair and a clear artistic vision which perfectly fits label owner baaz direction of his office imprint so far. what s surprising is how effortless and natural iron curtis appearance on his long-time friend s record label feels. in such good shape his maple ep is a definitve tip for the lovers of sophisticated and detailed dub techno full of suspense.

freda & jackson’s msh002 is the second offering from sydney’s moonshoe records and their first ep on the label as a duo. in 2016 the two beat-makers burst onto the scene and further-introduced the label with a pair of singles, persius & sumluv to a warm response at home and abroad. msh002, although predominantly house-cuts, sees the pair draw largely on their hip-hop influences with a heavy use of sample chops and and raw percussion. the 5-track maintains an emotional undertone of sadness from front-to-back while each tune holds up as a stand-alone journey.
