frotee releases a 24-track compilation featuring grünberg s work for 10 animated films and 1 puppet-play, all music is previously unreleased on any physical format. therefore, the release of -anima 1977-2001- can be considered as a notable contribution to the acclaimed soundtrack composer s discography that hopefully cheers up the audiences who have been waiting for this issue to be released. regardless of the fact that he still continues writing and recording music for films, the latest recording, that was included to this compilation, was made in year 2001.

2016 has been a very fruitful year for krill music. the habitat series places focus on shedding light on budding new talents and seasoned veterans alike through solitary tracks. the year kicked off with an ep from those that fall into the latter category - those of whom need little introduction, in stanislav tolkachev, i/y, +platfform and stefan vincent. throughout the course of the year, we then saw the likes of matrixxman, ilario alicante and mental resonance contribute to the now infamous concatenation.

with previous releases on labels such as chronocircle and tom trago’s voyage direct, magnesii delivers a playful blend of house, electro and tropicana for raw tools. the title track, fata oasa is a melodic, lo-fi delight, full of exotic flavours, whilst building ultrabot shifts to a different spectrum of sounds, with chunky basslines and heart-warming pads. on the flip side, euphoric 660, is a haunting house jam with low-pitched vocal samples and sharp percussions. the b-side gets a special 909-led muscle boost by antenna, known for his dark, but emotional sound, which has been embraced by labels such as pinkman, clone and beats in space.

the album a little comedy, a little drama by dusty baron is the result of collaboration of moldavian fellows eugen kara, ivan slivka and dima scripnic. this collaboration has been lasting in the course of 2016, with miscellaneous recordings at home studios, including moldavian radio and television studio. inspired by french and italian psychedelic electronic music of 60s and 70s, cartoons and the comedian genre of absurd, the trio tried to incarnate their vision of the space into a lp comprising 13 tracks. vintage synthesiser lines and classic drum machines create a hugely entertaining blend intoxicated with universal love. now and then you trace the combinations of techno rhythms rushing into the futuristic vertical, and sometimes the sound transforms into a blend of absolute and exotically influenced reverie.

born out of a love for disco records and odd electronics, casino times is the project of producers joseph spencer and nicholas church - a musical partnership that is rooted in house and techno but often treads into the weird and wonderful. since first starting the project in 2010 spencer and church have steadily been crafting a back catalog that reflects their varied tastes and unique approach to electronic music. this has seen them release on a wealth of respected labels such as wolf music, futureboogie recordings & permanent vacation, just to name a few. the debut on omena, decoded ep , consists of four tracks highlighting a distinct development of their musical style. no need to dissect each and every track here to explain how it sounds, just play it and enjoy. everyone from your grandparents to your neighbour and best friend will ask for track ids.

while many us producers from the second house wave of the 90s are looked at like demigods, others have remained partly in the shadows, and considerably underrated given their achievements. anthony nicholson is one producer who belongs to the latter category, but one which we ve been supporting since day one of juno. the man came to prominence thanks to a fruitful relationship with ron trent, and also to a whole heap of quality releases for known imprints like peacefrog, prescription, and nite grooves. this week, however, he s up on his own highly underrated circular motion, spear-headed by the excellent -miquifaye studio rewerk-, a tribal house groove with a deep, wondrous backdrop of synth exploration. -beat pad apella- is a jazzier piece of music, an enticing house chiller with plenty of musical nuances that bounce off its full, intricate groove. excellent - don t overlook this one...

long-time influential techno label mosaic is back with a fine new ep from germany s andre kronert. the odd/even boss has been turning out dubby and atmospheric eps for ten years now, and here he adds three more such sumptuous tracks to his discography. a track called jinx is first and is an economical but effective roller with vast drums, subtle hi hats and a wonky lead synth line that brings a trippy feel to the groove. perfect for basements or warehouses alike, it works on both head and heel in style. bottom line is more forceful and hard hitting thanks to slamming drums and a nervous, twitching, haunted synth sound off in the distance. racing along and taking you with it, the urgency of this one really is compelling. finally, pressure dub is somewhere in the middle, with rolling kicks looping down low, scattered percussive hits up top and unsettling synth motifs all layered up into a smooth dub techno classic. spacious and spooky it is another effortlessly essential cut from kronert and mosaic. available on limited edition 180 gr yellow vinyl only.
