joseph white aka joe white is a foundation of jamaican music. he started singing in the late 50 s and did his first recordings for duke reid in the early 60 s. while disco sound was bumping into jamaican people mind, he formed the group roots, trunks & branches to release several tracks on the label splendour heights. �rising / power disco power� is taken from the album the weak will be strong released in 1978. a beautiful extended disco reggae tune mainly played by joe white (drums, piano, vocal). this issue was fully remastered on a disco 45 vinyl record to give respect to the dynamic. on the other side you will get the reggae lovers roots rock tune �ain t no way / the monster�, an extended version with deep dubwise. you ve got it!

for alan oldham, artistic expression is a way of life, taking multiple forms and medi-ums throughout his lifetime. before he was ever known as dj t-1000, he was a published car-toon artist and radio dj in detroit writing press releases for underground resistance to get by. one day, underground resistance was in need of a last minute dj for their tour in aus-tralia, and a door flew open for alan oldham. with passport in hand he departed on his jour-ney as a dj, which little did he know would eventually span continents. influenced by every-thing around him, his work has dynamically changed and evolved along with his life. currently as an international dj living in berlin, his latest creation is the acidspace ep, released by elypsia records under the detroitrocketscience name. the traveler himself takes us on an intergalactic adventure, beginning with acidspace (8:48). with a steady beat and a unique blend of serene space sounds, this jam excites the imagination for the journey to come. it is followed by rocket to berlin (7:20), a subtle and intricate mix that entices one to enter the unknown. vesta system (6:22) finishes the ep off on a note that leaves lis-teners grooving and enjoying the ride. creativity and sweet sounds are what its all about for alan oldham. with his recent musical shift to mellower, sci-fi inspired jams, he continues to let listeners see for themselves.

what if music had no beginning, no end? can music exist for itself or of itself, without structure constraining it, defining it? can music be non-linear, non-narrative, simply experiential, existential? the second full-length album on mysteries of the deep, musica enterrada from portland�s william selman, neither answers these questions nor supposes them. but in listening, one can�t help but wonder: what if i disappeared into this record forever? in another time and place, william selman was known as warmdesk, an alias through which he issued a series of sharply precise minimal techno records. in recent past, selman shifted gears, shedding the dynamics of tension and release that characterized his previous alias output. under his own name, selman began releasing process-oriented, freeform experimental music on cassette-focused outlets like digitalis and hausu mountain. now comes musica enterrada, a diaphanous, weightless musical vision not unlike the theoretical square root of grm and popol vuhs early electronic forays. split into six tracks across two sides of vinyl, musica enterrada bubbles, churns, drifts, and dozes. dulcet tones pile up gently like waves on shore. patterns repeat and reconfigure, as if heard from different angles. rhythms appear, shift the frame, then disappear, into the ether whence they came. play musica enterrada on repeat. and if you disappear into it, fret not you have drifted into solace.

detroit duo ataxia offer up their kodak moment ep via visionquest this march, accompanied by an edit from label co-founders shaun reeves and ryan crosson. eric ricker and ted krisko aka ataxia have been at the forefront of the contemporary house and techno scene for some time, racking up releases on some of the leading labels across the globe such as leftroom, nervous, culprit and play it say it, making the duo one of detroits finest exports in recent years. here we see them making their debut on visionquest, the label of fellow detroit natives ryan crosson, shaun reeves and lee curtiss. vhs leads the package with murky synth swells, resonant synth sweeps and fluttering square wave bass tones at its core as shuffled drums carry the ever-evolving hypnotic groove along. the original mix of kodak moment follows, shifting the focus over to snaking bass lines, mind-bending, modulating synth whirrs and dynamic, choppy percussion throughout. reeves & crossons edit of kodak moment then rounds out the release, stripping things back to ethereal atmospherics and shuffled drums whilst subtly stirring in the original�s hooky bass groove as the interpretation unfolds.

after decades in the making finders keepers records present the first-ever pressing of serge gainsbourg�s most elusive and coveted soundtrack studio recordings co-written, arranged and orchestrated by the genius jean-claude vannier (histoire de melody nelson) during what many consider to be the dynamic duo�s most definitive creative period.

initially described as superlative 25th century electronic exotica by cowboy rhythmbox themselves, the fourth ep from phantasys in-house trouble and hitmakers received support from top jocks including dixon, jackmaster and marcel dettmann. now, i�s dynamic lead track is rejigged, expanded upon and shot through with analogue energy by two equally inventive producer pairings. fellow outsiders on the inside of the house of house, israels finest red axes take the first turn, coaxing the cosmos out of the original and allowing the bewildering vocal samples to lead the way through waves of more than pleasurable cosmic tension. soon, with the timing just right, feet to pedals and strobe to hand, the pair unleash a series of distorted guitar licks that blow dust off the stacks, even throwing in a sharp blast of their trademark surrealist vocals for extra freaky fx. on the flip, marvin and guy zone out and hone in on the originals ebm-indebted elements to contribute a trippy, wave-riding electro rework that oscillates irresistibly. teasing listeners with a playful, almost naive synth line, the mood shimmers instead with uncompromising acid, as the pair ultimately push the modulars into strange and hypnotic territories to get lost in.

slow glass is not only the debut release by le frère it is also a very personal diary of the last two years of his life. all four tracks are based on recordings, samples and ideas he collected while travelling the world. with the concept of slow glass in mind le frere tried to catch moments of his life without stripping them of their dynamic and evanescence. the ep starts with lots of positive energy and light but already reveals glimpses of the shadows that slowly emerge throughout the following tracks. nice is a lightly humming version of an (almost) innocent summer morning. it s a collage of field-recordings, synth-pads and manipulated guitar sounds. candid is a light and open dialog between a simple guitar theme and a playful synth-arpeggio. v1b1n creates the dense atmosphere of a rainy caribbean afternoon dominated by field recordings and everyday noises. nttt8-sets a counter point to the previous three tracks as the energy of le frere s travels cumulates in nttt8, making it a more dance-floor oriented piece carried by a dark and heavy bass-line and almost rave-sirens.

merveille & crosson return to visionquest this october with their second long player, entitled cerulean and featuring nine original compositions from the duo. 2012 saw the release of cesar merveille & ryan crossons critically acclaimed inaugural long player drm, seeing the pair veer their output into abstract realms and embrace a more eclectic left on centre production style. here five years later the pair return with their second album cerulean, again tipping the focus over to a modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract aesthetic, featuring collaborations with juliard trained classical pianist julien quinten, no regular play�s greg paulus on trumpet, wareika�s henrik raabe on guitar, yonathan levi on double bass, moritz baumgartner adding additional drum work and berlins signum saxophone quartet. across the �cerulean� project merveille, crosson and all involved offer up an amalgamation of sounds and styles from the freeform jazz odyssey styles of even tides and nordic bummers to the ethereal ambience of intro (almost raw) and mcyh whilst subtly nodding towards their minimal roots with acid pal and qaudra. the pair also radiantly display their love for the new age modular synth style with arp and life in the 80s with intricately programmed, dynamic melodies throughout, all in all resulting in a truly unique and forward thinking project from an array of talents.

before run dmc�s collaboration with aerosmith -walk this way- (1986) smashed the hit charts and proved to the mainstream that rock and hip hop are mere sides of the same coin, the seminal hip hop group already introduced both styles to each other on their second album king of rock (1985).
this groundbreaking record was the first hip hop album to go platinum. as its title implies, the dynamic trio claim their supremacy by combining heavy 808 beats and massive guitar riff samples, proving they were the baddest group on the block, period. their sound influenced late eighties hip hop on the whole, most notoriously by their label mates the beastie boys. king of rock s influence is phenomenal. not only did it introduce rock fans to a new music, its fresh sounds also made all hip hop that came before it sound dated. this 1985 record is a trailblazing album to the umpteenth degree!

next up on our album manoeuvres we head back up to sheffield. hiem are back with their 3rd album, the galactic cornucopia that is hotspace. it is a fine follow up to the 2013 escape from division street released here on nang. hiem consist of dynamic duo of nick eastwood & bozzwell (he was the live vocalist for -the all seeing i- who scored a worldwide hit with the beat goes on in 1998). we have always thought of hiem as one part grown-up dance pop, one part fine 80 s tinged songs and one part slightly weird and quirky. the third album doesn t disappoint managing to cram all those descriptions (and more) across ten fine songs.

detroit producer norm talley shares his debut album, * norm-a-lise* on fxhe records. from a prolific dance floor career comes this debut full length album.

to make it true and organic was the main purpose when german producer filou started his work for nova 118 ep. both original tracks, radon and scandium represent the path of techno with house influences. the tracks are rich in details and short fills which makes this a truly outstanding record. as this isn�t enough filou presents two versions of -radon- and -scandium- demonstrating where techno and house can take you. as the original concentrates on a percussive rhythm, samuel l. session�s version is arranged more classically -- a deep chord, a clear beat, accentuated hi-hats and claps. the -justin berkovi remix- carefully-placed sounds building the track into a dynamic and hypnotic whole. the percussiveness here is more profound, shaping the track in a completely different way. already massive plays by a bunch of dj-s incl. villalobos.

the intergalactic research institute for sound presents de, a compilation of various artists representing georgian electronic and ambient music. / de is a compilation of music from artists of different backgrounds getting together in order to showcase the dynamic influences within the georgian scene. tbilisi is getting worldwide recognition at the moment for its booming club scene, but what this project aims to illustrate is what is happening outside of the club context. natalie beridze who has been performing worldwide since 2004 is known as the first female electronic music artist in georgia, rezo glonti has built his studio inside the hull of his boat, and zesknel is a resident of the renowned bassiani club, while myi and severiane were discovered thanks to myspace, soundcloud, and word-of-mouth. all these talents manage in their own ways to present / de, with murky and melancholic cuts. melancholia is at the core of beauty in georgia. that is not the case in germany and many other cultures, where melancholia is often charged and bound to a negative feeling, which some might perceive as weakness. consequently, one could be tempted to say that even if it�s electronic music, de has a traditional georgian quality. but that would be putting art in boxes or cases because what is georgian art nowadays, when so many artists from this origin are scattered around? as giorgi maisuradze states in his mission statement for de, the world is their home.

the first release on leipzig s ph17 is a compilation of pieces by companioned artists and promising talents which try to pass the limits of regular club music by combining its roots with experimental and weird structures. leibniz sampled his playstation sounds, ariadne created a symbiosis between opera singing and heavy electro acoustics, hobor, who is usually non-conform in his productions, experiments with loopy techno sounds which are creating their own dynamics in-between. annanan and stanley deliver breaks, lo-fi electro and wicked melodies.

deca (federico de caroli), composer and musician graduated in piano, for over 30 years is a protagonist of the italian electronic and experimental scene, then approaching to other fields such as theater, multimedia and television. he is a great summoner of dream suggestions and started from the lesson of cosmic school to arrive at a personal alchemy of tradition and innovation, clutching the paradigms of artificial sound on the natural one. he began playing in 1975 and in 1983 bought his first synthesizer starting a long process of creative evolution, playing in parallel bands that are inspired by the british new wave as joy division, the cure, killing joke and studying the dynamics of synthetic sound.
