nils oliver frahm + peter ray broderick = oliveray. being musical companions and label buddies for many years, it was just a matter of time until peter broderick and nils frahm would start their first standalone project together. oliveray was born during a time when both artists were living in berlin and frahm supporting broderick on tour. their debut release wonders — a nice little collection of eight musical pieces — was released on erased tapes in 2011. the vinyl release includes a download code.

when the fight-or-flight response edges in—adrenaline coursing and perception wired—our behaviour is especially spiked by an emotional intensity. and with that peak comes a trough. it’s a chemical freefall, just like a crush.
presented by posh isolation, “crush” marks the beginning of the end for varg’s turbulent nordic flora series. getting us lost in an exhilarating maze of fainting beauty and breaks, the fifth piece of the series invites us to relish the harmony just as much as the dissonance.
following on from the previous iterations of the series, particularly the widely acclaimed “nordic flora series pt.3: gore-tex city”, the cast of collaborators remain familiar. some faces are more prominent on this occasion, while others were folded into the series for the first time at last year’s berlin atonal festival where varg’s nordic flora program was unveiled.

july sees radio slave’s rekids invite britain’s renowned swayzak to the roster with a cold war themed release entitled ‘odessa calling’ ep. a name associated with quality, swayzak’s ability to retain their signature sound whilst producing across various sub-genres has cemented them a solid reputation since their humble beginnings in the 90s. their impressive back catalogue includes six studio albums and appearances on labels like k7, m_nus, curle, ellum and swayzak’s own label 240 volts, which was relaunched in 2017. originally a duo comprised of david brown and james taylor, brown has been helming the project solo since 2012. he now joins respected berlin-based imprint rekids with two inspired productions. ‘odessa calling’ is a mysterious track with hypnotic synths, mesmerising pads and enigmatic vocals that combine together to create a celestial aesthetic. on the flipside, ‘numbers station’ continues with the otherworldly feel employing shimmering percussion that wanders alongside a brooding bassline for a well refined finish to the package.

much needed reissue of brazil, a collaborative work by three spearheads of scandinavian electronic music today. the original edition was presented in a limited run of four cassettes, boxed and with an accompanying book. this timely reissue comes as a remastered double lp set, inviting a new set of listeners to the work.

after “star alliance”’s initial release as a limited six tape-box set, it was apparent that there was a need for a reissue, which now comes in the form of this remastered double lp set with a selection of the best work and even a few new tracks added. the story is the same but the narrative has been sharpened.

mika vainio and franck vigroux’s peau froide, le&#769,,,,ger soleil was a dense and complex record, a collection of sonic sculptures forged in the heavy tonal matter. it was the product of a lengthy creative process, articulated through studio sessions and live performances. the result was a huge amount of material that the duo actually decided to partition into more than one release, the album being the first in line. the new 6-tracker ep ignis makes for the first posthumous release from the two producers, after the untimely passing of vainio in 2017.

strut presents the brand new album an angel fell from cosmic jazz travellers the pyramids, led by saxophonist idris ackamoor. produced by malcolm catto of the heliocentrics, the album was recorded during an intense week at quatermass studios in london. some of the many highlights include the poignant title track depicting a fallen angel in purgatory, outrage and grief on the powerful, hard hitting soliloquy for michael brown and the lilting, beautiful album closer, sunset. the pyramids originally came together in 1972 at antioch college, yellow springs, ohio where teachers included renowned pianist, cecil taylor. after forming in paris and embarking on a cultural odyssey across africa, the group recorded three independent albums,‘lalibela (1973), king of kings (1974) and birth/speed/merging (1976) and became renowned for their striking live shows, mixing percussive, spiritual and space-age jazz with performance theatre and dance.

kreattones fourth instalment is finally here and it is, of course, a blast! after jesse bru’s triumphant ep on our label, we ve changed the formula and went after the obscure talent of less known artists to put together a four-track various artists compilation. the goal was to offer a diversified record to our beloved followers, without disregarding the label s vision, and the truth is... we couldn’t be happier with the final result. andy book, the label owner, lazer mike, the wonder-kids and fragoso the perfectionist came up with their finest house cuts, both joyful and mental, that make this v.a. a rare gem.

luv dancin’ is an absolutely essential record. the underground solution was one of the monikers for roger sanchez, one of the most prolific house music producers in the 90s. this 1990 anthem luv dancin is a nyc deep house benchmark. based on arthur russell’s disco classic is it all over my face and with elements of the bottle interspersed with a deep, rolling garage bassline, dreamy keys and pads, the “s” man crafted a timeless piece of dance music that still inspires today and is often imitated yet obviously never bettered! a side is the remix version featuring jasmine on vocals, while the b side is the sought after “in deep mix” from the original 12”. as with all our ny house classics, first time available on 7”.

with the masters at work name under contract elsewhere at the peak of their career, kenny dope and louie vega had little choice but to work under other names for their strictly rhythm projects. hardrive became popular, largely thanks to the iconic ‘deep inside’ whose vocal hook (from, barbara tucker’s ‘beautiful people’) and bass line helped made the track become one of house music‘s most memorable hits. “sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and deep inside is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era masters at work, all the signposts of what was happening in nyc s clubs in the early to mid 90 s were there within it s grooves. you know a record is good when it s still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later”. it’s no surprise even kanye west would sample this classic to make another chart topping track! this one s a straight up essential for any self-respecting house music aficionado. availble for the first time as a 7”. original mix on the a, dub on the flip. you know what to do!

“running through with the sadness” represents hungry march band’s first full-length studio album in over a decade, and their first pressed to vinyl. the record is an explosion of irreverent energy and a veritable lesson in spastic instrumental dance music. it was meticulously produced over the course of years, indicating a forward step in the evolution of the radical street brass sound.

benjamin vigneron, also known as vronsky, was born in 1991 in aix-en-provence, france. as a teenager, drawn simultaneously to visual arts, cinema and music production, he made his first contact with techno by working for a local club as a graphic designer. during his 20s, while living between montreal, canada and marseille, france, it was revealed to benjamin he suffered from a heavy bipolar disorder. as a reaction, he started losing himself in free parties and increasingly dangerous habits. gradually learning to love himself despite his flaws, he kicked his risk-taking after he realized the love of music prevailed over anything else. equipped with a strong desire to share his vision despite not being able to perform as a dj, benjamin started a youtube channel and a collective named listening blue.

in the studio prototype 909 was a group that rarely agreed on a clear idea of exactly what they were trying to accomplish. the entire project was an experiment, and every time they hit record there was nothing better for them to do than to just try stuff. whenever it came time to put together an album they would go through what they had recently done and nd the tracks that seemed to fit together well, or that at least sounded like they were made by the same group. that left on the cutting room foor some really amazing worst that somehow just didnt fit their goals at the time. at schmer, we remember. p-909 leftovers have schmer written all over them. these four tracks were all recorded live in the studio in between their three studio albums 93-97. brenecki ( half of ontal ) provided his remix inspired by one of them. hyperdrive and -datafash- were recorded shortly after acid technology was released in 93. they come from the -lets make acid technology vol 2 approach-. that would have made a really cool record had they done it but they decided on making transistor rhythm instead. anoisenyc aka the tracs that dietrich hates is what you get when you let jason go nuts on a doepfer maq-16 ( they never made that mistake again ). bobo is possibly the most prototypical p-909 tracks ever: it took three guys making their own tracks simultaneously almost ignoring what the others were doing but somehow mixing them into a flow to make this one, but it all comes together nicely in the end. its amazing that they never released it before. you ve enjoyed the wait, now enjoy your new prototype 909 while it still is new!

the 6th release of ville nouvelle, music for five post cards brings together five artists from across the globe, both old and new to the label. the compilation materialises as a musical ballad, 40 minutes long, and evoking feelings of travel and the contemplation of nature. in the continuity of ville nouvelle’s exploration of music and graphic design, each track is transformed into a respective postcard by the french artist alexis jamet, who was given carte blanche for this exercise. the project appears as a personal mosaic of evocations reflecting both in image and music a kind of international feeling.

arcola presents mwr157 contains six lost slices of leftfield electro including the mythical and mysterious hotline a track that was originally scheduled for release on mo’wax back around about the year 2000 but only ever reached test pressing for reasons no one can quite remember, alongside five other tracks that take in dancehall, hip-hop and 2-step garage, all recorded during the same session...

a matter of time is the follow-up to protoje’s critically acclaimed 2015 full-length, ancient future, which featured the hit single “who knows” ft chronixx, which has garnered over 69 million views on youtube & 5.9 million soundcloud streams. a matter of time features chronixx and mortimer, and contains the smash hit singles ‘blood money’, ‘truth & rights’, ‘bout noon’ and ‘no guarantees’. ‘a matter of time’ was produced by winta james (damian marley, anthony b, the mighty diamonds) and recorded in jamaica.

for our next excursion, we’re off to the library. in search of library records that is - you know the type, the crazy rare records used for soundtracks and such and such. we have a sick selection of synthed-up beats and pieces chopped together by one earl jeffers, making the most out of his international library digging card* (*not a real thing).
for those that don’t know, cardiff’s earl jeffers is one half of darkhouse family, regular family at our sister label, first word, on which they released their debut album “the offering” late last year. earl is a prolific producer in his own right, also releasing over the years under the aliases chesus and metabeats on labels like mcde, fat city and local talk, collaborating with artists like byron the aquarius, action bronson and kamaal williams / henry wu, turning his hand ably to house, hip hop, jungle, jazz and more. all this in addition to running his own label, mélange records.
a dedicated digger and record collector first and foremost, earl has provided us with a quadruple set of heavyweight stuttery sci-fi boom bap. in earl’s words: “this record was mostly inspired by my penchant for the more electronic / synthesized jams, mostly replayed from the original compositions then thrust in to 2028 and beyond….”

in the era of the brand, kutiman is an anomaly. a musician who’s a video artist who’s a producer who’s an animator who’s also the unwilling star of one of israel’s most successful recent documentaries, his every record contrasts with whatever it was that came before. but that’s fundamental to his appeal: no one, not even him, really knows what to expect next. unsurprisingly, therefore, ‘don’t hold onto the clouds’ is no different, which means it’s like nothing he’s ever done. most artists would acknowledge this by working under pseudonyms, but kutiman is – yes, you’ve guessed it – different again. “if i changed my name every time i wanted to do something new,” he laughs, “i think i’d have too many names!”

peter kadergard has been active in the helsingborg (sweden) electronic music scene since the early 1990 s. he was involved in various collaborations during the 90 s and appeared on a few cassette releases under the names grodans fodelsedag, marchentraum and mannix system. peter released his first rittowski record on the borft sub label djuring phonogram in 2004. apart from this electro project peter is a member of the bands goz mongo alliance and inyurmania, who has made a few releases on the ufo mongo, pripuzzi and skiboy record labels. this is new electro!

arthur baker and murk are two of the most iconic brands in electronic music. arthur baker’s career started in boston, and then hit its stride while he was living in new york city in the 80s and 90s, and he now spends much of his time in miami. oscar g and ralph falcon aka murk were born, raised, and lived their entire lives in miami. this new single is a culmination of the three artists spending time together in miami, and djing on the weekly murk monday events at renowned miami location coyo taco (delicious tacos up front, beats in a secret club in the back). coyo combines the tribal house percussion that murk is known for with the party-driven synths, vocals and instrumentation that is arthur baker’s trademark.

“choose life” is both the album apostille chose to make and had to make. he dialled down the clown, built up a new-found confidence in his voice and melody in general and began to feel more at home in the refuge of pop music (with a capital p). as kasparis explains “choose life began as a chronicle of a bad time. many of the songs were written as some sort of catharsis, an escape from a tumultuous couple of years. the album title was intended as ironic at first but as the writing process went on the album began to feel more playful, i was finding revelatory threads in it i hadn t intended. choose life became an imperative.” all the truest pop music speaks to us of escape and through this new album apostille allows its transformative power to fully manifest. it’s an album full of life and energy, as disobedient as it is heroic in its pursuit of liberation.

gorje and izhevski return to all day i dream. finally! our exotic step brothers have their own elegant and distinctive sound that carefully balances musical emotion with signature beats. equally at home on the dance floor as well as your lounge floor in your spotify playlist. nikolai has been a long time fan of peter broderick and was given the opportunity to work with him last year. he (and dimitri) took peter s vocals and created something quite beautiful, both in ambient form as well as the 4:4 version. ta da! their new ep was well on it s way to completion. seeing as i m never satisfied though i insisted they stayed up late for another week and the result was l eternite. harking back to one of their first releases (calinerie) on the label this subtle melodic bomb will be heard as the sun sets or the sun rises across the universe this summer. if you re not already aware please check out the boys label too. shanti radio is a label we at all day i dream love.

this one has been a long time coming. great 12”s never get shelved at lddlm, time is not the essence. benedikt frey has been part of the extended family since his remix of car’s idle eyes and we crossed paths a few times at robert johnson in frankfurt. init, his project with his other half nadia d’alò, has seen releases on neighbours such as hivern or correspondant, our door was naturally open to their pretty personal brand of “off-kilter techno” as ra says. stereometric is almost a definition of init’s acid mind. failing their own tricks, heavy atmosphere and unusual restraint. nuts is almost an instrumental extension of the title track, when your head finally hit that window pane. wheels slows the rush down, wandering on an imaginary khyber pass. this is only deception though, mindwork being a real exercise in post-goa trance. hope you enjoy the trip. see you after the summer.

death to techno is a new, futuristic ep of >the white screen<, ever before into a world of ruff beats, dark electronics and analog effects. musical producer dori sadovnik, the sound genius from red axes, produced this ep at garzen studios, diving together with the whites into a new world of unknown pleasures and sins. a mind and body bender between techno rhythms and broken rock n roll tapes, between the dancefloor and a campfire, between darkness and light - the new recordings are asking big questions about past and future, vintage and electro, about the screen and about the white. death to techno, the main track that opens the record, is also treated in a wildly remix version of the red axes pair. the cover of the album hellenic plasticine party was created by multidisciplinary artist oren fisher, who has been accompanying the band since its inception. produced by: dori sadovnik musicians: stav ben shahar, drums noa ayali, chello liat raz, vocals nimrod goldfarb, contra bas shay landa organs

full disclosure...i changed the entire release schedule to jam this record in this year. when you listen, hopefully can see why. from getting the demos during my breakfast, the record was agreed and in the schedule by the time i’d finished my dinner. currently if you cut austin ato i believe he’ll bleed an amazing record. this record swings between a peak-time hands in the air pink loveheart vibe, hot and heavy classic sample based house, and some real basement orientated machine-made jacking house. its like a quadruple a side release, and i personally find it impossible to pick a favourite on here.

as the title suggests, joakim recorded this new album last year at studio venezia, the installation/sculptural ensemble/recording studio created by xavier veilhan for the prestigious 2017 venice art biennale. built inside the french pavilion & inspired by the grotto-like merzbau by kurt schwitters, studio venezia had dozens of artists create and record there over the 6 months of the biennale (from chassol to brian eno, from joakim to sebastien tellier), invited by xavier veilhan himself with the help of co-curator christian marclay. with an impressive collection of rare instruments from medieval horns to rare modular synths (baschet crystals and percussions, a buchla, a clavinet...), studio venezia was an amazing creative playground for the adventurous musician. those instruments were captured by a team of sound engineers in the best possible way thanks to nigel godrich’s (beck, radiohead...) mobile studio loaded with state of the art vintage recording gear.

the first in a series of compilations by jura soundsystem is a blend of dub, ambient, downtempo, boogie and proto house with a focus on music never before released on vinyl, sought after out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album. . the intention with this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. highlights include smackos (aka legowelt) ambient epic ‘we can watch alf in the hotel room’, never before released on vinyl, the dub / psych hybrid of minus group’s ‘black shadow’, kash’s sought after ‘percussion sundance’ and special edits of ken dang and tabou combo. the end of the album includes some soothing ambient tools.

after establishing himself with rough but emotive house as rimbaudian and jungle as birds of sweden, he unveiled his dj seinfeld alias to the world, first with underground hit single u, then with his time spent away from u album on lobster fury in november 2017. it was a post break-up love letter to the dance floor with heart-on-sleeve emotions colouring the dusty and analogue house grooves. acclaim came in from far and wide, with everyone from rolling stone to pitchfork fawning over its heart swelling nostalgia and melancholic immediacy. jakobsson approached his dj-kicks with the intention of representing all the things that made him fall in love with dance music more than a decade ago, as well as showing some of the progression that has occurred in that time and reflecting the simultaneous fear of leaving something safe behind as well as the excitement of venturing into unknown territories, musically and emotionally.

nemoy and djemeia met at some sort of band/singer contest in zurich. he was in the jury no one knows why and djemeia ended up winning that thing. after that, nemoy just didnt stop bothering her with soulful, lo-fi house tracks, until eventually she gave up and recorded these magical vocals over some of his tracks. a perfect fit, right away. alexander lay-fars fantastic remix work takes that to a whole new level. buy this record

tokyo’s finest techno/house label vis rev set owned by tresvibes soundsystem released its 4th ep “vrs004 ? nord”. featuring essential but minimal structured tracks by vieux renard, as known as montreal’s guillaume coutu dumont. this title is his very first attempt as guillaume’s latest solo endeavor which he cited that it was time for him to return to his den and begin crafting his next magical shenanigans.

dont is excited to welcome dublins another alias with a perfectly unsettling 4-track ep that veers from 2 step through techno and out the other side, truly bringing something new to the table.this producer has been busy carving out a definite sound of late and that sound chimed so much with the original ethos of dont, that he was immediately sought out and invited to record an ep. his productions bang, whilst managing to hit a delightfully off-kilter tone which is a tricky combination to get right and we really hope you’ll enjoy this special release.

after the release on french label basse resolution and after a couple of years since his last ep on bosconi, having released with the -under the line- track one of the highlights of our latest 10 years compilation and as bss together with his mates fabio della torre and mass prod, rufus is back on bosconi with a new four tracker record which goes on a new direction compared to the past music he did. -ritual chants- was mainly recorded in the abandoned industrial area of milan called bovisa and probably for this reason the release sounds all around a bit sci fi, cinematic and especially gothic. all begins with the raw techno jam of -fast rituals- where structured mellow and dreamy synth lines combine with the dusty, aggressive and driving rhythmical transportation of its drum section. fast rituals is one of those electronic pieces which tells you a story from the beginning till the end, so please pay attention to it. -sapere sparare- looks calmer but actually has the more mental and psychotic feeling of the whole record, driven by an intoxicating and fat bass line, rough jazzy beats and a lot of twisted out fm synths goodness whose times are punctuated twice by the warning female vocal theme of the track. -last shot #5- instead is a jacked out, hypnotic and darker broken house track dense of pumping low ends and subtle but glorious synth riffs properly made for the late hours and totally in the vein of a baby ford - minimal man production.-tenebre- closes up the ep with its horror movie atmosphere, drilling drones here and there, big bouncy bass lines, reverberated snares, drama strings and a dominant sinister melody which slightly reminds of some old dbx track.

clubbing is a source of euphoria: a weekly, often daily escape, a respite from the grind. that culture and its landmarks – some of london’s best venues and many countless pubs - are slowly disappearing for good. on last night, which was recorded in all four corners of london with marc pell (micachu and the shapes), lv, rob marfarlane and james anderson, benin city take an album-long look at the dual nature of london’s nightlife.

when michaela meise performed at westgermany at kottbusser tor in berlin-kreuzberg on march 20, 2015, accompanying herself on the accordion, i was perplexed. i knew her first album from 2010, which was about hymns (»preis dem todesüberwinder«, originally released on clouds hill, available as a download and stream through my label from july 2018 on), but what she was playing weren’t spiritual songs?! i wanted to put this music out on my label: the songs sounded sad, aloof and wistful but also proud, determined and unerring. the album title »i am greek« is a tribute to melina mercouri’s album »je suis grecque!«, which was released in 1971 when mercouri was deprived of citizenship by the greek military junta. mercouri lived – like mikis theodorakis and many other cultural workers – in exile. meise’s album is dedicated to the chanson scene of post-war europe, whose songs were popularly folksy, but also political. some talk about the experience of war, the shoah and labor migration.

antonio sanches provided the “out of space” lead track on the label’s seminal “space echo” compilation. impossible to find for many years, the sound of “buli povo!” is just as arresting and mesmerizing today as it was on the day it was released. it has just taken us thirty-five years to catch up with antónio’s vision.

songs about the unity of sudan, peace between muslims and christians and the fate of war orphans, backed by grooves equally taking influence from arabic sounds, american funk as well as neighboring ethiopia. kamal keila was among the first artist we met in sudan during our two trips to khartoum and omdurman last year. he is one of the key figures of the sudanese jazz scene that was a vital part of the musical culture in sudan from the mid 1960s until the islamist revolution in the late 1980s. when we meet kamal he luckily presented us with two mold covered studio reels. each tape included five tracks. one with english lyrics and another with arabic ones. musically you can hear the influence of neighboring ethiopia much more than on other sudanese recordings of the time, as well as references to fela and american funk and soul. his lyrics, at least when he sings in english which gave him more freedom from censorship, are very political. a brave statement in the political climate of sudan of the last decades, preaching for the unity of sudan, peace between muslims and christians and singing the blues about the fate of war orphans called shmasha. a note inside one of the boxes specified the track titles, durations and the fact that the sessions were recorded on the 12th of august 1992. both sessions stand as a hearable testament how kamal keila stuck to a sound aesthetic from decades ago, while incorporating current events into his lyrics. kamal keilas album is the first in a series of releases covering the sudanese jazz scene on habibi funk. be on the lookout for albums by the scorpions and sharhabeel coming soon.
