the irish blues-rock multi-instrumentalist rory gallagher recorded quite some solo albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s. music on vinyl already released the lost album >notes from san francisco<(movlp349) in september 2011.
now its time for gallaghers first two albums to get fully remastered and pressed on audiophile 180-grams vinyl. rory gallagher released his eponymous solo debut album in 1971. this album marked the departure from taste, the first band which gallagher founded, and the start of his solo career. gallagher wrote all the songs himself and recorded the album with two befriended belfast musicians.
>deuce< is gallaghers second solo album and was originally released in 1971 as well. in contrast with his previous well-produced album, >deuce< was an effort by to capture the energy of a live performance. in order to do so gallagher would often record immediately before or after live performances while keeping production at a minimum.

the impeccably talented organ grinder returns to the catapult records fold, with, believe it or not, only his 2nd solo single to date. the artists first sell out release obsession gained him some serious global attention with steffi charting the title in her 2011 end of year round up for clone. the organ grinder introduces vocalist jessy allen who will be a familiar name shortly with appearances on what i want by crst (forthcoming on valve records) and will also make an impression with her vocal contribution on the fourth studio album from high contrast the agony and the ecstasy on hospital records. for this outing he offers a simple and accessible track with an anthemic scope whipping up a combination of some serious teutonic funk and floor friendly, party-wise golden era of house vibes.

upon.you’s next release steps out of europe and into the americas with a timeless ep from brooklyn natives tim xavier and camea. tim, a passionate producer and co-owner of manmade mastering in berlin, has teamed up in full force with camea for this stunning work, who is the owner of one of america’s most successful techno labels: clink recordings. camea has driven herself onto international stage in recent years and is touring around the world as a successful djane. the a side, brooklyn sunset 1989, is an emotionally charged piece stemming from vintage 80s melodies and broken drum patterns, epically beautiful and romantic. in contrast, the b side features man vs. universe, a dance floor driver that uses tims powerful percussive techniques to achieve an energetic crate essential. the duo takes things down for the last two installments, diamonds hitting the groovy a.m. spot.

hugo barritt was a promoter at londons infamous egg venue, during which time he focused his attention on robert owens residency at the club. a friendship was struck up and when hugo finally decided to leave to concentrate on production he could think of no-one better to provide the vocals to you are than the most recognisable voice in dance music, mr owens himself.befitting such a wonderful coupling, efdemin heard the track and agreed immediately to provide the remix,and a splendidly slick ride it is too, taking the merest hints of roberts vocal whilst injecting a melodic feel for a blissed out ride through the early hours. contrast that with high octane thrills of murmur regular tom demacs remix - dispensing with the subtleties of the original in favour of a power house ride of beats and bass, warping roberts vocal into something altogether sleazier.

it seems like hawkinson has drawn his inspiration from the lush crackling whispering of the woods. akiko seems to see it the same way and with her remix makes a compelling overall package of the second 12 inch by phunkit. >unterholz< is a crisp driving, deep techno roller with playful percussion elements, subtle functionally-held choral dubs and a bass line drily humming to itself. >stillleben< crackles bone-dry and elegantly at the same time, the light melodic phrases form a great contrast to the massive wall of bass. akiko is tinkering a little organic dust monster out of >stillleben<. definitely superb how she is breathing her principle of life into the whole theme, so that you almost wish the track would never end.

it has been in the pipeline for a while, but its finally here. the debut release from nijmegens underground house & techno collective eshu. they have been working and shaping their sound for over a year and gained quite the following on soundcloud for their relentless output. its deep, its slow, its really dirty and its to put your finger on.
two tracks will be released on wolfskuil ltd as a taster of whats to come. >naturally divine< is 14 minute electronic monstertrip with curious offbeat rhythms and detailed & mindblowing sounddesign. it builds tension without ever releasing into climax, making time fly by and 14 minutes seem way to short. >monrovia< on the flip is a nice contrast, but again this techno groover stands out through its unique choice of sounds, synths and layers.

morning caffeine is the debut release by poker flats martin landsky on mobilee that we have all been waiting for! as a poker flat artist with huge success to his name for various remixes, he boasts a discography that reads like a guide through electronic musics hottest sounds. always refusing to be pigeonhold, landsky continuously embraces different paths and once again hes brought something new to the table. title track morning caffeine (main mix) kick starts the ep with both a dark and uplifting mood as a slightly twisted loop continues to build throughout the track, never really culminating but carrying on inescapably, whilst in contrast the organ dub version offers a much lighter and bouncier atmosphere. aint nobodys is the pleasant surprise of the ep, once again demonstrating landkys musical diversity and serving up really special warm dreamy vibes

in denmark, there rages a lively and experimental techno scene - and its not only a recent phenomenon. the best proof are phono and kemi, two danish imports to the berlin record label, highgrade records. the two chaps complement each other in a musically virtuoso fashion: phono, jacob thiessen, spent his childhood playing around with sequencers and drum machines: over the years he has stuck to this passion and as such, has developed a reputation as an experienced house and techno producer. kim kemi, by contrast, has been a dj since the beginning, and since the 90s has been one of the key figures in the copenhagen club scene. together they have not only performed regularly at the biggest events in denmarks capital, but have also ensured through their many releases, ever changing accents and atmospheres on the turntables. this wealth of combined musical experience can be heard instantly on their latest outing for highgrade – >decompose<. the three tracks, >decompose<, >exterminators< & >last night< assemble rhythms that come from punk, elegant voices and dizzying loops a multi-layered sound excursion. the result is a perfectly produced ep, but one that has not been ironed smooth. with the >made in denmark< seal of quality, phono and kemi bring some extra depth to the party attitude

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

and here it is: the second vinyl ep of niko schwinds album >good morning midnight<. it features some of the unique tracks that niko has created together with some of berlins hottest production talents. on the a side are two tracks that feature the clicky tech-house boys that are channel x, where things kick off with >back from the bar<. it sounds as the title suggests: a little wobbly, a little drunk, a little crazy, but also pretty magic. quite clearly this is an homage to one of berlins not-to-be-forgotten clubs that is unfortunately history now. but things continue on here at least with >dont turn the lights on<, a more straightforward dancefloor track, with a trumpet as the main protagonist. this is one of those tracks that keeps leading up to a real arms-in-the-air-moment if it wasn’t so damn housy at the same time. on the flip the magical connection between niko and label daddy oliver koletzki can be heard on >master of ceremony<, a chopped-up house track with epic dimensions. when things get to the piano breakdown, they get very musical and colossal before dropping back into a great house track. the stark contrast between the piano melody and the groove on this really make it. last but not least then, the original album opener >good morning< that features the singing of fran. it works great as a great album opener, but also perfectly as a slower and more thoughtful addition to a great ep

nice price deal !!! rippertons wonderful perspectiv imprint look to kick off their 2011 vinyl releases with the bribe em with candy ep. a debut on the label for german duo motec and daniel gelbe under their production pseudonym, eve white. some exquisite house tracks on this ep. lead track sugarbabe with its velvety tones and chocolate coated piano chords is the most delicious of starters. backed brilliantly by its timeless dub. its the cymbals that initially stand out on feel better. the open hats and ride shimmer alongside the twinkling keys. its unique vocal is underlain by an acid line thats contrast to the other elements, is the real key its success. rounding out the ep is anything goes. with pianos being the instrument of choice for eve white, its no surprise to find that the ivory rain-drops and warm throb of the rhodes are key here. this really is the finest of sunset and sunrise territory. bring on the summer!

well rounded are extremely excited to announce the imminent unleashing of the 2nd instalment in our r&b refix special series. ladies and gents - cash antics vol 2. this time round we bring you 4 separate artists take on remaking r&b in their own inimitable ways. first up deadboys >fireworks< edit has elicited a massive response already on forums and blogs, its simple house framework lending extra soul, gravity and impact to the beautiful vocals and piano. incredibly effective and affecting stuff. on track 2 gongon & bad autopsy (ptn / ramp) showcase their stripped back luminous garage informed sound on >mag (remix)<. the contrast between the bare bones beat, warm sub tones, hovering chords and earnest vocal make this a highly addictive tune. watch for future releases from these guys. flip the plate for skinnz and his steamy half-step selection >turn u on<. already a regular feature in deadboy dj sets, this wastes no time in seducing the listener with a breathless panting vocal riding a bumping beat, bouncing bass and sweaty synth work. this tune is hot and heavy! finally gatto viola & doc daneekas >backstabbin angie< wraps things up with nakedly emotional vocals riding a uk funky updated take on a classic 70s philly soul groove. a natural closer for a fantastically varied ep united with a common purpose - to drop honey-dipped r&b voices and vibes into the epicentre of new uk bass music fusions.

incl penner & muder rmx! klasse recordings returns for a third release, this time showcasing the talents of label co-owner and creative director, luca lozano. the eps title hints at the producers obsession with opposites, clarity and contrast, heaven and hell, life and death, cycles and patterns are emerging as repeating themes within lucas music.

intense, deep,raw and dirty tracks by marco bernardi. his first release on clone records in a while and what a record! two tracks build around unpolished rhythms and open beginning that dont reveal immediately where its going. quiet unpredictable is the a-side that slowly opens up with a sultry string and then completely bursts open with a shiny melody that is in beautiful contrast with the raw percussion. broken silence is another deep track founded on a basic rhythm and metallic detroit bass line. topped with spoken words (by keith tucker from aux88) and bleepy melodies, underlaid with a deeper sexy bassline. a track rooted in the best traditions of techno... weve played this one over and over! machine music by men!

finally, the live virtuoso olene kadar is back again with release #4 on his homebase mos ferry! not only the really massive kick makes the a-side >deal< a true stomper, that might put a smile on every detroit fans face also a guy called gerald would be thrilled! kadar uses common sounds and styles to stack his own unconventional sound-building - his own >house<. driving is probably the adjective that can express most accurately what constitutes the eight and a half minutes track with its funky organ chords. the b-side >sot:2< contains an equally virtuoso ass-shaker. somewhere between industrial aesthetics of the reverberated snare and the indefinable squawking sound its elements combine into a multi-dimensional piece of >club therapy< full of extremes. the unity of groovy kick and bass constitutes a high contrast to the vast extending percussion that moves at times in dramatic and absurd dimensions. approaching the drop, the almost out of control snare rolls and percussion drown any crowd in their own sweat dripping from the ceiling.
