rubber is new label from the hague with a motley mixture of off-radar electronix for both the experimental clubber and home listener. rubber001 is a bold three-tracker. mannequin records head-honcho alessandro adriani hits the nail on the head with his secret weapons. secondly, reigning from finland, 0.5w (halvtrak and stak etop) pans across the room like running with titanium scissors. the cherry on top is this piece of dutch drum-laden poetry, probably on illegal medication, about a bicycle mechanic from the hague by legends unit moebius, reverend cor gout and salo mentale. all on 180 grams of white vinyl in a white jacket.

cute heels screamed onto the scene with his debut album on dark entries. the colombian s blend of ebm and minimal synth with driving rhythms electrified interest with juan atkins describing him as -the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music.- tough words to live up to, but this talented artist has done atkins proud with his excellent five tracker, nepotism ep. measured and thoughtful the ep is packed with eclipsed wave and bold beats. future classics shine from the drop. -nepotism structure-, with its blackened chords and stark chords, is brimming with a primal energy. -madame counsellor- ups the tempo, adding some extra squalor with wretched 303 writhe. cute heels refuses to sit in one genre, electro coming to a head in the shimmering mechanics of -cabaret literal.- -the pulse (sex drive)- closes in a seedy blur of neon lights and showing synthlines. bleak and bold brilliance from bogota.

for it’s 16th (!!!) release, dixon avenue basement jams continues to bolster it’s local infantry with fresh, new blood, this time with the addition of a young but well-seasoned individual hailing from the hinterland of greater glasgow and going by the name of big miz. if you happen to live within an 8 mile radius of a blue lagoon, the chances are you will have already been acquainted with the bold miz, most likely through the longstanding and legendary clubnight/crew he’s a resident & founding member of: offbeat. the length & breadth of offbeat’s tastes also reflects his flexibility as a producer. tracks presented here, such as “good thing” strike a fine balance between good ol’ motor city funk and chi-town oddities such as vincent floyd’s more obscure cuts on d.m, while the velocity increasing “solange” comes like the result of a three-day theo studio session fuelled by bad speed. his talent for catering to the dance has clearly paid dividends when it comes to his productions, with the nuance and instinctive touch he presents us with on his debut dabj 12” clearly marking him from the start line as an already formidable & stand-out force in the heady and increasingly cramped world of house & techno.

MUTEWAX 003
12 Inch
20.07.15
the 3rd release by mutewax, various artsts 03, shows no signs of letting up. normally playing live, lyon-based pascal roeder smoothes out the rough edges with gentle yet subversive rhythms in “101,” a posh production that hints at what’s to come on his next mutewax ep. mutecell’s “vimana”, like the word itself, embodies multiple meanings at once - the track’s inherent mystery oscillates between emotion and intellect, ancient and modern, serene stillness and a bold drive into the unknown. relocating from denver to berlin, chad kaska, aka daegon, reinvents himself on his first vinyl release, “double speak.” the energetic track fights its way forward, advancing steadily against an antithetical undercurrent, finally assimilating it into its double-crossing rhythm. the founder of “hide & seek” in berlin, denise rabe hits hard out of the gate with her first vinyl track, “loaded.” building up energy, the track finally detonates and expands in phrenic waves across the dance floor.

hot on the heels of his inaugural release in january, braiden introduces slewis, a new producer on his emerging off out label. after years of honing his craft in the studio and playing in experimental bands, london born slewis makes his mark on his debut with two equally bold dancefloor cuts. group v opens with an extended twisting cacophony of synthesizers before breaking down into metallic driving machine funk. on the flip, despot delves deeper down the rabbit hole as ebm influenced sounds and syncopated claps dance around a bed of paranoia, leading to a tense breakdown populated by a flurry of spasmodic drums.
BASIC PAIN PROCEDURE (LEN FAKI REMIX / LTD PICTURE DISC)
12" One Sided Picture Disc
04.05.15
len faki initiates a new series on figure. a hybrid of picture disc and classic vinyl, 65.5 looks to the future of the label in a bold statement both musically and aesthetically. already well known for his precise works, and with a wealth of remix credits under his name, djs have come to know exactly what they can expect from a len faki production - pure quality and dedication to his art! with other key figure artists expected to contribute to the concept too, we re excited to offer up this beautifully crafted series of collectors items. the classic rattling techno stabs of basic pain procedure are reworked into a storming deep quest for the floor - one for the heads, the original was produced by a certain and much heralded uk duo in their early years of operations… len faki takes the haunting, bare bones of the original and modifies it gracefully, resulting in this high-end reprise. emerging from the hazy echoes of a late 90s rave in the uk, by way of chicago, the classic synth line could be the epitome of a genre that seems to live on timelessly without borders or the need for hype: dub techno spirit 2015!

for our second release on wavereform, we continue our explorations into sophisticated sounds from mostly-unexplored areas with the production debut from juras lietus, a 25 year-old latvian producer from riga whose mysterious origins in this out-of-the-way locale may surprise listeners, but whose sound fits very well into the label’s mission to reform the sound sphere with simple and elegant tracks that demand attention and bring unknown talent deserved notice. lietus wastes no time in showing off his developed dub techno style on >dark frank< as the bold, well-defined contours of the bottom end are contrasted with gentler ambient textures in the opening, it acquires more force as it moves along as he adds harder percussion patterns to the framework while the dense atmospherics progress barely in the background. >direct< is the more subtle and atmospheric of the pair, as crisp, delicate drums develop slowly while also suggesting melody. it too gains strength as it goes though, with ricocheting percussion and a barely-controlled feedback wail leading into a dramatic breakdown before he slowly winds things down in the detail-rich final section. jū,,,,,,,ras lietus and latvian techno may be mostly unknown, but this strong showing for wavereform 002 reveals much still to be uncovered in these eastern lands.

for its first release of 2014, sammy dees ultrastretch label has called upon monsieur georget. youre forgiven if the name is unfamiliar. his bio offers few clues—he likes his bicycle, vin rouge and analog hardware, the latter of which was apparent on his recent debut for le loup and seuils hold youth label. bold and auspicious, the ep may have left you wondering if it was something more than a first record. and as it turns out, monsieur georget is none other than chris carrier, the long-active french purveyor of hypnotically minimal house.luckily we werent left waiting for very long for more material from carriers new alias. his second release, le vicieu / colle de la bonette, shows that monsieur georget and monsieur dee share an affinity for pared down, wonderfully elastic club tracks. like carriers best work, the compositions themselves are minimalist, but their hardware-based sound pallet ensures theres plenty of meat on the bones. a-side le vicieu is a subtly melodic shuffler, where deep bass growls at the core of an expansive drum set and whispers suffuse the negative space with mystery. on the flipside, colle de la bonette takes the sound someplace stranger and more psychedelic. whatever weird place were whisked off to, though, its every bit as funky, with brittle drums undulating to the kicks deliciously irregular throb. >monsieur georget< might be a brand-new name, but we’re willing to wager you ll quickly get to know these rollers well.
