get ready for a new exciting collaborative project on electric deluxe! >workshops< is a new experimental series of releases by phil kieran and jochem paap (aka speedy j). the idea behind this project is to explore the recording techniques used in the middle of the 20th century and dating right back to the mid 1950s. famous inspirational places like bbc radiophonic workshops in england and philips lab in holland have seen some of the most innovative production techniques, experimenting with the first use of stereo, modular synths, found sounds and reel to reel tapes. the end result was always something space age and promisingly futuristic and still to this day fresh sounding, crisp and exciting. phil kieran and jochem paap have decided to use this inspiration to effortlessly accomplish marrying the past, present and future in an innovative mix of old ideas with new.

electric deluxe are proud to announce works, the ninth studio album from dub techno purveyor brendon moeller. conceived in late 2010 and inchoately developed during a spell in amsterdam with edlx head jochem paap overseeing the project, works flaunts moeller at the height of danceabilty whilst remaining true to his steeped lineage as a maker of textured, atmospheric and subaqueous electronic music. i began thinking hard about what kind of album i was trying to make. after much pondering i decided the best way forward would be to make an album that reflects both my own idiosyncrasies as well as try and capture what i believe to be the spirit of techno.
with comedy of menace terence fixmer created a true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. the album is in many ways hypnotizing and mental, yet keeps the energy and a effectiveness for the dancefloor. terence explains:>i wanted that people can feel a soul, a story, and the sound of every track to open up the imagination of the listener, creating images in their minds. its an artand a passion, my heart is bumping for electronic sounds. i love when the music is really coming from the heart of the machine, when the sound is pure and raw!<
