sleeper cell is the new collaboration between earthen sea and lovers rock label head ital. recorded over three days and nights in a dark ny winter, * quality of life* reflects a declining america in a winter of its own. corroded dub atmospheres, haunting melodies, subdued flashes of tenderness and occasional searing noise swim together like murky oil in a puddle of grimy water on the side of the road. opening with the entrancing * initiate* , * sleeper cell* welcome the listener into their world, where menacing whispers dance and echo around synth swells and a poignant lead melody. from there, the duo journey through a crumbling and eerily spacious sound world.

an ep done by ukrainian producer -myztical- accompanied by paul birken remix. experimenting in offbeat techno as well as delivering straightforward techno bangers, this ep should fit well in every techno heads vinyl collection. inspired by frank herbert’s “dune” universe and it’s derivatives, this is fantasy about space and interstellar travels, fame and power, love and treachery, yet another untold story - thousand years ahead in very distant future, but pretty much inspired by our own life itself.

following on from killawatts bring down the walls ep at the tail end of last year osiris music continues to expand their sonic boundaries as they move in 2014, with their first release of the year coming in the form of sleepers simulation theory ep. experimenting for the very first time with fm synthesis, the ep features seven tracks of thunderous production the majority of sounds for which sleeper drew from a mere four oscillators in a bid to recalibrate his production skills. the resulting record is far more than the sum of its component parts and, save for the skulking, static soaked tension of meth, moves with relentless force and purpose throughout.the simulation theory ep sees sleeper taking his already deft grasp of both dubstep and techno production and fusing them to a body of pummelling forward momentum perfectly suited to set osiris music off on what promises to be a bold and progressive year.

carmen villain got great reviews for her debut full-length album sleeper that was released on smalltown supersound in april. this is the second 12 inch from that album (the first featured single *lifeissin* as well as a prins thomas remix), and it is really a smorgasbord for fans of electronic music with long, psychedelic and epic remixes from optimo, peaking lights as well as norwegian disco legend bjorn torske.

emotional relish welcome in their second ep of 2013 with some solo work from scott fraser after a previous collaboration with headman and nitzer ebb vocalist douglas mccarthy. the light sleeper ep pairs two trademark fraser cuts with remixes from the aforementioned relish boss and fellow weatherall acolyte timothy j fairplay. a drab bassline wades *paraphase mine* into the murkier exclaves of synthy territory, allowing headman to lighten the mood by adding some tonal difference in his mix. fraser sets his arpeggios to flutter and bounce in *centreville lapse* with marching snares set to a severed heads styled reverb. fairplay does away with the tracks nosier components, demystifying frasers original for a warmer, eat petting remix.

osiris music uk continue to stake their claim as one of the most prolific labels of the year, with a rapid-fire release schedule boasting consistently excellent music from kryptic minds and their meticulously curated roster of talent. next to step up to the plate is sleeper, and he delivers two imperious examples of dark and twisted sub-frequency architecture, showcasing both his production prowess and his ever-fertile pool of creativity.
