tatu metsätähti and tatu peltonen formed their electro duo mr velcro fastener in the small town of turku, finland back in 1995. in 1999, after a couple of twelve inches, they released their first full length album ‘lucky bastards living up north’ on i220, which was well noted (not only for its hyper colourful cover art by the designers republic). the album took the duo touring in europe and overseas, and led to further releases on labels like stars-music, ali b’s air recordings, solina records, cyber dance and of course billy nasty’s electrix, as well as remixes for the likes of hardfloor, marco carola, dk8, transparent sound and aux88. returning to electrix with their third full ep for the label (and a gap of 13 years!) they have delivered their own unique and recognizable electro sound with two new cuts. ‘a monster in two worlds’ with its electro-funk sound, classic vocoded vocals and grinding groove is a perfect opener, while ‘bakteriofag’ (bacteriophage in english) like its name, creeps up like a virus, infecting the senses with its crisp and shining melody. additionally, there’s remixes of ‘a monster in two worlds’ from silicon scally (carl finlow in his electro guise) and m-twelve (the new moniker recently launched by billy nasty and surface’s nick dunton) to complete the line-up.

“great many arrows” is the 6th studio album from damien dubrovnik, the danish duo of loke rahbek and christian stadsgaard. it is also the 200th release on their posh isolation label, marking 8 years for both the label and project. the label’s inception came with damien dubrovnik’s debut album, and since then the two have been inseparable. without damien dubrovnik there would most likely have been no posh isolation, and vice versa.

this latest work from vanity productions is a turbulence steadied to rest with care, and marks a critical high point in the project’s evolution. as the nom de plume of posh isolation’s co-founder christian stadsgaard, there is a deeply private yet fiercely empathic quality to “only the grains of love remain”. pirouetting between his collaborative work with loke rahbek as damien dubrovnik, as well as the empire line with varg and iron sight, to name just stadsgaard’s most recent activity, the inwardness reserved for vanity productions is perhaps a necessary step. that the emotive experimentation should generate such a touching soliloquy is an arresting watermark, presenting only the grains of love remain as the most eloquent work of the project to date.

its a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you re drawn back to again and again, wondering how you ve never heard of them before. porto producer pedro, & washington dc vocalist jenna camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty wolf music recordings. the influences from jazz though to soul, rnb & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. you re drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, rnb infused groove. having pulled you in float hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside jennas float mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. reaching the last section of the track though you re woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving. keep it h 2000 , the final track on the a side, has a real flavour of fatima to it emanating from jenna s blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums. flip it over and there s a tougher intensity to future dance (it ll be ok) , coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn t be out of place lighting up the floor at a co-op night. to close out the e.p. you re given a sensory overload through jenna s staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle its the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. and if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, pedros name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come. support from afronaught (bugz in the attic), bradley zero, henry wu, lefto, atjazz & osunlade

after “star alliance”’s initial release as a limited six tape-box set, it was apparent that there was a need for a reissue, which now comes in the form of this remastered double lp set with a selection of the best work and even a few new tracks added. the story is the same but the narrative has been sharpened.

framework recordings is back with a very special, limited run vinyl ep that features five fantastic artists in oliv, o’hana, blurred, fred and ground16, and deep house doesn’t come much finer. first up is the low key oliv, part of the heady party collective bedford crew. his ‘submarine cruise’ is an effortlessly atmospheric dub house track. sandy shakers, balmy pads and an astral lead synth line all ooze underground class. o’hana is another emerging producer with an already well formed sound. his gorgeous ‘lune’ is another prime bit of deep house with analogue kicks and hits, subtle vocal samples and cavernous pads that melt into the horizon.
blurred are a young italian pair from labels like lapsus, safe music and hotfingers and keep up the cultured dub house vibe with more deeply enveloping grooves and dusty hits. the chords here are smeared in the background and sure to find favour with the more intimate dance floors out there. then it’s to impressive new swiss artist fred for ‘mw.’ it’s deep and house-y again, but this time it drives forward on huge kicks, with acid lines and icy hi hats bringing the energy while yawning synths soften the edges. closing out a tasteful package are swiss pair ground16 with ‘3rd street.’ cosmic in nature and with wide open pads, this house groove is another analogue beauty with warmth, smart vocal snippets and dreamscape pads. these are timeless deep house cuts that are deceptively simple and superbly executed.

emergent russian producer legit trip is the next up on jack s house, serving up four slices of sleek, crisply produced tech house to work across a variety of scenarios. -answer- keeps things simple and effective, letting the bassline take the weight of the track and keeping the beat locked on course for maximum dancefloor efficiency. -organic- has a lighter, more rolling feel to it that nods to the outdoor, day time terrace crew, while -what- has a deeper bump that yearns for dimly lit basement vibes. -you got me- has an easy going house flavour to it that should slot nicely into the warm-up, but don t be fooled - there s plenty of weight in that low end to do the damage at any time of night.

with the masters at work name under contract elsewhere at the peak of their career, kenny dope and louie vega had little choice but to work under other names for their strictly rhythm projects. hardrive became popular, largely thanks to the iconic ‘deep inside’ whose vocal hook (from, barbara tucker’s ‘beautiful people’) and bass line helped made the track become one of house music‘s most memorable hits. “sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and deep inside is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era masters at work, all the signposts of what was happening in nyc s clubs in the early to mid 90 s were there within it s grooves. you know a record is good when it s still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later”. it’s no surprise even kanye west would sample this classic to make another chart topping track! this one s a straight up essential for any self-respecting house music aficionado. availble for the first time as a 7”. original mix on the a, dub on the flip. you know what to do!

in the studio prototype 909 was a group that rarely agreed on a clear idea of exactly what they were trying to accomplish. the entire project was an experiment, and every time they hit record there was nothing better for them to do than to just try stuff. whenever it came time to put together an album they would go through what they had recently done and nd the tracks that seemed to fit together well, or that at least sounded like they were made by the same group. that left on the cutting room foor some really amazing worst that somehow just didnt fit their goals at the time. at schmer, we remember. p-909 leftovers have schmer written all over them. these four tracks were all recorded live in the studio in between their three studio albums 93-97. brenecki ( half of ontal ) provided his remix inspired by one of them. hyperdrive and -datafash- were recorded shortly after acid technology was released in 93. they come from the -lets make acid technology vol 2 approach-. that would have made a really cool record had they done it but they decided on making transistor rhythm instead. anoisenyc aka the tracs that dietrich hates is what you get when you let jason go nuts on a doepfer maq-16 ( they never made that mistake again ). bobo is possibly the most prototypical p-909 tracks ever: it took three guys making their own tracks simultaneously almost ignoring what the others were doing but somehow mixing them into a flow to make this one, but it all comes together nicely in the end. its amazing that they never released it before. you ve enjoyed the wait, now enjoy your new prototype 909 while it still is new!

there is something to be majestic about stalwarts of a certain flock coming together to be creative. the harder side of drum & bass didn’t have its own power formation until today. it’s as of this day that czech producer forbidden society, formed an alliance with two of his most respected peers to create 3rdknd. donny, katharsys and fs all have a strong lean to rhythmic textures, tough drum cuts and experimental fx works. just in time for the european festival season, the thunderous first effort has arrived, and it’s going to turn some heads.

opening track in the b kicks off proceedings in no uncertain fashion. it s 100% wall shaker material, the type of techno music best paired with strobe lights and towering speaker stacks. it mesmerises with its low-slung undulating bassline and detroit rhythms before giving way to some riotous old school essex stabs and sharp claps. no messing, this is a certified 3 am red light burner! track 2 chocolate biscuit accelerates proceedings! beginning with unfussy drums and a robotic, bleep-heavy melody driving it off into a wonderfully off-kilter direction. its arpreggio d rhythms may be brutish and wrestle a growling sense of menace out of the track, but the overall feel, however, suggests considerable care and attention has been paid to make it sound this way. there s clearly an uncommon musicality at play here to make something this complex feel so simple. the bpm drops next on jenny s hall but from the offset, there s enough funk and thrust in the motorised synth line to get bodies gently grooving without the beauty getting lost in the slower loop. this is blissed out, psychotropic techno - the kind of track where it feels like you re floating and falling at the same time, but all the while making sure you still remain fit for purpose on the dancefloor. ian blevins takes on remix duties this time and the berlin-based dj/producer offers up a sleek peak-time banger that fizzes, bubbles and percolates. he gives the rhythm on jenny s hall less space to swing and ties it to a tight motorik beat turning it into a slice of shiny, modern techno but with extra shoulder-checking force. its vibe drawing from a sense of outsider-party fun with a wry smile, and a knowing wink running throughout before bringing the package to a suitably left of field crescendo.

we’ve always loved their records, but this time around there’s something maybe even more incredible - this instant classic vibe that rings out right from the very first note, as the voices of the singers trade back and forth, and blend - and the instrumentation follows suit with this subtle weaving of acoustic and electric elements. remastered reissue on 180 gram vinyl.

as the title suggests, joakim recorded this new album last year at studio venezia, the installation/sculptural ensemble/recording studio created by xavier veilhan for the prestigious 2017 venice art biennale. built inside the french pavilion & inspired by the grotto-like merzbau by kurt schwitters, studio venezia had dozens of artists create and record there over the 6 months of the biennale (from chassol to brian eno, from joakim to sebastien tellier), invited by xavier veilhan himself with the help of co-curator christian marclay. with an impressive collection of rare instruments from medieval horns to rare modular synths (baschet crystals and percussions, a buchla, a clavinet...), studio venezia was an amazing creative playground for the adventurous musician. those instruments were captured by a team of sound engineers in the best possible way thanks to nigel godrich’s (beck, radiohead...) mobile studio loaded with state of the art vintage recording gear.

the latest transmission from emotional response s ever-essential schleissen series takes a trip to the fourth world with jon keliehor on the a side. there s no denying the influence of jon hassell on tracks like opener -serpent in the sky,- but keliehor channels those exotic notions into some truly captivating music that is all his own. from chiming tones to purposeful percussion, his sound is a rich and evocative one, beautifully recorded and artfully composed. on the other side, lord of the isles indulges his ambient side to great effect with no less than seven vignettes of varying moods and energies, all played out through delicately handled synthesisers.

a shimmering piece of gold - discos dorados is a 4 track va e.p. brought to our shores by the lovedancing adventurers. felipe gordon & vagabundo club social open up the e.p. marrying dreamy arps and luscious rhodes stabs, with tribal-esque chanting to create an exotic, bubbling groover. eddie c then ramps up the disco flavour with his stomp mix of the original introducing a phased upbeat hook and choice horn samples, isolating out elements before unleashing a killer keys solo over the top. flip it and sleazy mcqueen & vagabundo club social bring the heat with chips y salsoul , blending jazzy chords and echoed out trumpets evocative of a mexican fiesta after one too many tequilas. to close it out eddie c rides off into the sunset sampling a vocal dialogue that wouldn t be out of place on a moodymann record, alongside succulent strings and crisp percussion - reminiscent of the jazz infused, mpc laden house of the moomin s of this world.

dauwd returns to technicolour with -theory of colours - versions- ep. a new 4-tracker ep containing remixes/reworks of various singles from his debut album. the ep opens with a piano rework of analogische memories , recoded at his studio in berlin and the result of countless hours work - -it took some time, as i had to learn to play piano- dauwd explains. dauwd also makes up one third of the berlin collective, party and radio show, african acid is the future having previously released on kompakt and ghostly international. ukrainian music producer and leleka label boss vakula provides a remix of macadam therapy . fresh from the release of his well received lp -metaphors- and following on from last years -techno game- released via arma and -cyclicality between procyon and gomeisa- released via dekmantel in 2016. aaitf partner romain azzaro aka rouge mécanique provides two remixes of murmure (one -walking-, the other -running-) - -romain and i returned to the studio where i made much of the album in utrecht in the netherlands. we got to experiment again with many of the wonderful machines they had there, in particular the original roland system 700-.

time flies, doesn’t it? it sure does when you suddenly wake up to celebrate your 10th vinyl release as a small label, which is the case with us. but as we’re all about quality over quantity, our latest 12” offering comes with a superb collage of fresh music by the one and only radicall. having made his mark as one of the most consistent producers, known for his trademark combination of strong, dynamic drum programming and soft and booming basslines, radicall keeps on delivering top-quality music with each next release. and this 12” single is no exception to the said rule. the playful, happy-go-lucky “touch” is a bit of a nod to the old-school/rave/early jungle/footwork/you-name-it style given its complex drum pattern and an array of acid-style synthetic samples and tinges of vocal here and there, but sticking to modern-day standards nonetheless. the flipside comes with “build me up” remixed by bungle, who surely knows how to make good things just as good as they are, but yet a bit different. and here we have the brazilian powerhouse reshaping radicall’s work to make it a bit lighter and upbeat, but still retaining some elements of rawness mixed perfectly with traces of nostalgia. an excellent job, breathing a new life into the original piece - a darker-shaded straight-to-the-point roller, which you can get as a digital bonus added to the release. so here it is - the tenth vinyl item in our catalogue, featuring names you simply can’t go wrong with. what better way to celebrate the occasion?

after the release on french label basse resolution and after a couple of years since his last ep on bosconi, having released with the -under the line- track one of the highlights of our latest 10 years compilation and as bss together with his mates fabio della torre and mass prod, rufus is back on bosconi with a new four tracker record which goes on a new direction compared to the past music he did. -ritual chants- was mainly recorded in the abandoned industrial area of milan called bovisa and probably for this reason the release sounds all around a bit sci fi, cinematic and especially gothic. all begins with the raw techno jam of -fast rituals- where structured mellow and dreamy synth lines combine with the dusty, aggressive and driving rhythmical transportation of its drum section. fast rituals is one of those electronic pieces which tells you a story from the beginning till the end, so please pay attention to it. -sapere sparare- looks calmer but actually has the more mental and psychotic feeling of the whole record, driven by an intoxicating and fat bass line, rough jazzy beats and a lot of twisted out fm synths goodness whose times are punctuated twice by the warning female vocal theme of the track. -last shot #5- instead is a jacked out, hypnotic and darker broken house track dense of pumping low ends and subtle but glorious synth riffs properly made for the late hours and totally in the vein of a baby ford - minimal man production.-tenebre- closes up the ep with its horror movie atmosphere, drilling drones here and there, big bouncy bass lines, reverberated snares, drama strings and a dominant sinister melody which slightly reminds of some old dbx track.

benin city are the london-based three-piece comprised of vocalist and poet joshua idehen, vocalist shanaz dorsett with multi-instrumentalist tom leaper.
clubbing is a source of euphoria: a weekly, often daily escape, a respite from the grind. that culture and its landmarks – some of london’s best venues and many countless pubs - are slowly disappearing for good. on last night, which was recorded in all four corners of london with marc pell (micachu and the shapes), lv, rob marfarlane and james anderson, benin city take an album-long look at the dual nature of london’s nightlife.

hutsons first solo album since leaving the impressions bearing the influences of curtom records main man curtis mayfield. considered one of the best soul albums released in the summer of 1973 it features some of leroys most popular tracks love oh love, when you smile and so in love with you. part of acid jazzs campaign to reissue all of mr. hutsons classic albums which has so far seen impressive support at radio and press.

following up lou karsh’s excellent “ataraxia” ep we’re hitting up australia once again, such is the level of burgeoning talent down under. this time it’s the turn of sydney native e davd.

the first release by the amsterdam based duo caim on there self-titled label. the duo s distillation of the everyday voices captivated on this mindset focused four-track ep. each track stands as an analysis of the deep, groovy and detail driven biota. soothing atmospheres and pulsating synths offer us a first glimpse into caim s state of mind.

our good friend riccardo aka. black loops joined rough limited with his buddy innocent soul from italy. they made three classic house cuts for this vinyl only release. >the lady< is opening the ep - a classic homage to all old school chicago house tracks with a chopped vocal sample. listening to the b-side, there is >from the streets< a more disco influenced track with pianos and a moog baseline. with a raw & authentic house stomper there is >smoke signals< on b2 to round up the whole package. enjoy!

first lp by visballa (also part of atelier records adopo) is a long avaited lecture in real industrial funk. hard edged & rhythmical, but sometimes also as if recorded underwater or getting stuck in between two charging electrons. where some tracks bare the quality of dub rhythms others are fast forward 80s - and there s also the psychotic ones - either way it s 100% excellent.

whether or not techno music is destructive and to what degree is fair concern to have, but there s no denying that it can call upon our primal instinct of surrendering to rhythms together with everyone around the proverbial camp fire. sure, the camps of today are the clubs, and the fires are strobes, but that doesn t change the essence of rituals that we continue practicing. the release stays close to 130 bpm and offers efficient tools for the dancefloor: airy, for one, represents a syncopated narrative of wonder and magical realism, whereas in the hands of gotshell it becomes less contemplative, shifting to a more direct perspective. backed by cascading kicks xi takes a dive into atonal realm, and kujin —the most brutal number of ep—offers a densely packed treble range running above the hammering 3/3 kicks. with hydra, it s a trip laden with wondrous soundscapes, shamanic percussion and sensations of unexplored grounds emanating from the bassline, after which the closer trioptic provides a rebellious theme fitting for times of unrest and resistance.

ltd copies, screen printed sleeve by al white & house of traps, this marks the first new vinyl release from echospace detroit this year with all the content lovingly re-mastered in echospace, detroit, usa & cut @ deepgrooves. an unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with newly remastered content from radius s celebrated -obsolete machines- double album & two of the most epic creations featured on the -interpolation tapes- cd series, available for the first time ever on vinyl format. many of the songs featured in this project were initially sent to rod modell & mike schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. (recorded from 1993-2000) they were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to octal records for release, sadly, that didn t materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. we ve spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting and redesigning these masters. we truly hope you enjoy reliving these magical times of music, very inspired by all that was happening in those years, there was just something in the air, an undeniable energy, long may it live on..
