wonder & amazement is a record ive had in various forms and incarnations from ex chicken lips members steve kotey & andy meecham for about a year now – a song that immediately grabbed me from the very first moment i heard it. reminiscent of days gone by mixed with a touch of the new - a song that contains a mixture of both the old classic and the new classic. ive been championing it for a while now either in sets or charts, even including it on a recent compilation i did. a record that we are proud to be able to use as a soundtrack to this new era of classic.

unusually for a record (for me,at least), constants collects tracks written in four very different moments in time: some are recent - so recent ive only had the opportunity to play them out just a handful of times - while others are over one year old. i really wish the story behind this ep would be a bit more interesting so this text could completely blow your mind but im afraid there were no dragons, no sex, no drugs and definitely no rock n roll involved. all four were mostly produced by me while sipping coffee and wearing boxer shorts in front of a computer. i could somehow try to describe the music on here but it would probably take less for you to give it a listen. however, if you happen to be one of the humans that prefer reading about music. anyway, im really happy to see these finally out, especially on a label i have always looked up to like vakant. i really used to think smoke, kaden and ozer were aliens at some hopefully you will enjoy this music as much as i loved writing and playing it out.

after a 2 and a half year wait i finally managed to knock out a new single. its actually only my 3rd solo single ever. im very happy with it but ive got mixed feelings trying to describe it. you spend a year working on a track and a lazy shop worker or journalist will lump you into the >cosmicbalearicspacewhatever< straightjacket in 2 seconds, i can at least resist to do the same… anyway, two are quite psychedelic and one is some kind of cover version of one of my favourite villalobos trax. as you can hear ive had loads of fun fooling around in the studio playing the bass, percussion, drums(badly) and synths(even worse…)…

another quality dmx krew masterpiece we at turbo are longtime fans of dmx krew, so its a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label white leather. we dont normally trace an artists history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. with all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays its easy to forget who the real masters are... ed dmx is one of them. ive always held a soft spot for ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. hearing his live version of the knight rider theme at sona (tigas club circa 96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. of all the artists id met up until then, he was the coolest, he could play synths better than anyone id ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set but he was a sweet, softspoken, and super funny guy. for reasons ive never understood, eds pop side didnt seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! (richie hawtin on voices of the dead) record release event at berghain / panorama bar berlin on september 4th, 2008, feat. ricardo villalobos, mika vainio (pan sonic) and ulrich schnauss (tbc).

the kazey & bulldog picture disc is followed by the first d2s release from our hero rod lee - a baltimore legend in his own right and in our eyes the no. 1 club producer, bar none. this super aggro dude has serious issues. he just needs to open his mouth and kids cry flames. for his first d2s release, rod commits re-mastered versions of two of our favourite cuts produced by the man. we first heard >understand< when we scored a bunch of scottie bs ebay auctions, and to this day its one of the best baltimore tracks ive ever heard. you can play this sh*t anywhere and the crowd just freaks out. hip hop heads love it, techno heads love it, even your girlfriend loves it. we coupled it with rods simple but ultra effective remix of the eurythmics classic, >sweet dreams<. when the catch an attitude tour dropped in on our club in glasgow, a-trak dropped this beast for all of 30 seconds and people went nuts. bannanas even. you could argue that the eurythmics remix thing is overdone and outdated, but if you did so, wed know for sure you hadnt heard rods version. anyway... we tracked it down and got it on the flip, so really this is more like a double a. both cuts are re-mastered (but still raw like the day they were made) and cut loud on heavy 12inch vinyl

peter introduces himself like this, >ive started making music with an oric-1 home computer in the middle of the 80ties, later the commodore amiga was the flagship and then....the casio fz1 and now i use the galaxy of software and the korg mx1, roland tr727, roland jx8p, korg ms20, yamaha tg33, yamaha dx7 so i guess that it makes things clear, peter is one of these producers that uses older analogue machines along more recent software gears. and you can sure hear it in its productions, it sounds huge, powerful while style wise keeping things on to the soul filled part of the dance floor. peter delights us here with two stunning tracks that contain modern beats structures echoing rather old school house patterns and hooks. as always with peters incredible music, originality, surprises and ingeniosity are 100% at the rendezvous

well, ive known markus for a while and hes a damn good producer. hes been here for a while now and has been releasing on labels like maw, raw fusion, sonar kollektiv or deeply rooted to name a few. his music is always elegant and his production has an edge. lately he lets his early rave and techno influences shine through. for remixing, we got lucky to have >redshape<. hes definitely one of the most interesting producers at the moment and has understood detroit techno and house much better than anyone right now. both mixes are lo-fi and dirty, with a proper sexy groove. needless to talk too much about it: if you like real house and techno just.. .
