nick the record & dan tyler are back with the long awaited, much anticipated 4th release on their record mission imprint. if you have heard nick the record play out during the past year you ve probably heard work & you ve definitely heard give me more - which has been the tune nick has been asked about the most over the last years busy dj schedule. they had some technical difficulties which led to delays in getting this out... or did they just enjoy the exclusivity over the last year??? you decide! give me more is a squidgy funky disco winner for the discerning dancefloor and already a bit of an anthem. work is a feel good vocal disco tune in celebration of the weekend party time when the week s work is over. play is a high speed space disco meets jazz jam that sounds like there was a collision between harry thumann & jason lindh somewhere in space, or maybe underwater. enjoy! .

when i first stumbled across mix tapes out of hamburgs seminal front club (with klaus stockhausen and boris dlugosch at the helm) during the glorious and carefree early days of the popularized internet, there were certain tracks on them that struck a chord. in fact there was one specifically, i couldnt stop listening to. the mixture of an infectious bass line, a super sharp snare, music and harmony vocal snippets, happy claps and synths lines that evoked pictures of a convertible going down a coastline, and - to top it all off - a tribal chant, was irresistible. after some intensive track-id-hunting pre-shazam, i found out that the heaven-sent hymn was music by an act called syncbeat. originally released in 1984 during the craze that was called uk electro via street sounds resp. streetwave and later licensed to german omnivore zyx records. a joint venture between the electro-funk mastermind,dj pioneer and edit maestro greg wilson as well as manchester musicians martin jackson & andy connell, it is exactly that type of dance track that eludes any classification - as you can see from my description above. or to cite greg wilson himself from one of his essays on the subject of uk electro: the track that received the best response was music by syncbeat, which was full of good vibes and could have easily been re-vamped down the line as a house track.

francis harris exceptional run of releases for his own labels scissors & thread and kingdoms now extends to this perfectly formed ep for hafendisko, which sees him rework some of hfn musics finest moments of the last two years. harris, the brooklynite whose feel for subtlety and space seems to infuse all his work, takes on three of the hamburg labels cannon - kicked off with kasper bjorkes cloud 9, featuring urdur. here harris deconstructs the original and reforms it into a some quite removed from its origins - shuffling drum machines bring about a kraftwerkesque feel, before beautiful tones and atmospheres reveal themselves. the track seems to develop along two paths simultaneously, somehow creating a truly affecting piece of leftfield electronica. null + voids huge dave gahan-featuring-track where i wait has been heavily remixed over the past months, but also gets the harris treatment. completely flipped form the original, this is a haunting remix with tough and funky underbelly, utilizing gahans vocals only sparingly. danish alt-pop trio ticktock have their single hatefuck refixed also, and harris zones in on the glitchy vibe and adds layers of claustrophobic depth to the production.

the masterful trio of timo mass, basti grub and eric volta showcase their combined musical muscle on the latest release forthcoming on supreme berlin imprint, mobilee. with an impressive remix package featuring rodriguez jr. and tiefschwarz. over two years in the making, ‚we were riding high‘ is a lucid after-hours track with an uplifting and catchy vocal hook that unfolds and develops fluidly. the alternative edit utilises dark synths and drums, retaining the positivity that make this track perfect for the last summer month. this record is the result of eric volta making the demo at an after-party at his studio. he then showed this to timo mass who in turn showed it to basti grub who loved the track so much, they were inspired to develop it. two time grammy nominated timo maas has an extensive musical background, spanning over thirty years. he’s worked with some of the world’s biggest stars including madonna, depeche mode and fatboy slim. basti grub heads up his own label, höhenregler, and is known for his exotic, african-influenced productions. he’s released on some premium labels including cocoon, get physical, desolate and cr2. born in london but very well traveled, eric volta shot into the spotlight with love your illusion and since releases on dirtybird, visionquest, four:twenty recordings among others.

elastic dreams, a new label for 2011, bringing out no-hype, no bullshit, deep and warm electronics. music for the mind, as well as the feet, expect to hear techno, ambient, new-beat and other frequencies over coming releases with music coming from nyra, skudge, md2 and a sagittariun. debut release here from a sagittariun, with remixes from md2 aka mike dehnert. a sagittariun looks up to the constellations to bring the first release on elastic dreams the circle stops somewhere is a simple groove with a sweet and melodious synth riff that comes alive throughout the track, some have made comparisions to ames classic rej, whilst not really in that league, circle maintains the dynamic pace with powerful 909 patterns whilst keeping a nice warm analogue vibe. telepathic heights is a brooding, percussive experience with a growling bass riff and enveloping keys with sci-fi elements to its composition. md2 (aka mike dehnert/fachwerk) comes good on the remixes on the flip side. his mello mix is a disjointed and muscular groove that rips apart the original synth riff, and bends and warps it over solid md2 beats to make a real low-slung funky workout. md2s hard mix does what it says on the tin, a relentless bass booming groove and spongy use of the originals samples, this is md2 at his very best!

back with another pair of his heavy-hitting hardspace mixes, len faki hands two mighty club-weapons. aimed at no less than unleashing havoc on the floor is the edit of frantic drum-roll-fest lazer beam. already quite a force to be reckoned with, faki manages to beef-up the mix even more, adding rumbling bass-weight and injecting some extra steam to make it roll out until the end. on the flip side there‘s the hypnotic groove of space taxi. captivating and enveloping, this mix alters the original signature bass in order to shift gears into what feals like full forward there‘s no escaping this one! as with all releases of lf rmx, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded to the berlin organization straßenkinder e.v. to be used in actions against child poverty.

too smooth christ returns to supergenius records and widens his singular approach to introspective dance music to new musical horizons. infinite fall dmz is a slow house jam built around a hypnotic and endless fm pattern and a strong chorus bass, emphasized by a myriad of shiny bittersweet 101 sparks. pheqs125, originally made for tsc current live act, triggered such keen reactions in clubs that we decided to cut it down. its an acidish banger, elaborated around a 303 pattern, a rave detuned bassline and a b-more breakbeat, tickled by synthetic voices. with its rainforest chords and melodies and its muffled breakbeat, the eponymous track with you in mind is a love declaration between balearic house and old-school jungle / idm. etoile closes the ep with its uk bass vibe, a combination of tribal drum patterns and a grime beat and narrative bassline which will attract you in some mysterious caverns where the magic monsters hide.

the albums one of ra s greatest from the 70s recorded in italy in 1978, and featuring some incredibly otherworldly keyboards that are some of his most enigmatic on record! original tracks from the album include disco 3000, an incredible workout on synthesizer, with a tiny bit of drum machine, a little space is the place breakdown, and all of the wild sound you d expect from a sun ra album plus more long tracks the sweetly soulful friendly galaxy, a great soul jazz number, and dance of the cosmo aliens, which has spooky organ, frenetic bass, and somber percussion. check!

next up on nang it is time for a slice of spot-on male vocal house and disco. liverpool based thomas lang made some fine albums in the 80s and 90s with john murphy (who went on to carve a highly successful career in movie tracks) and david hughes. somewhere in between that and a string of recent albums (“torch songs” and “the german alphabet”) he also managed to buy one of the finest recording studios in north west england, parr street studios (the “abbey road of the north”). we are pleased here at nang to see a new avenue turned in tom’s life, his first foray into the dance world. “scared” was written with late liverpool songwriter john uriel quite some time ago. it first emerged as a b-side to tom’s comeback single “august day” in 2011. here at nang we always loved the smooth and sophisticated vocal and melody. when tom suggested some remixes we were on board.

end of summer is nearby again and luise is reminiscing this year s precious moments. with a touch of melancholy and weightless beauty zazou & an on bast are setting the right theme for the upcoming autumn days. while knowing and following each other s musical progression for years, this celebration of polish-german friendship came off with unexpected ease and utterly pleasing results. in the spirit of collaboration this release is supported by basel s charming arutani on the vinyl side and luises own niju aswell as plattenfreund gottlieb scheppert on the digital outlet. completion it is by any means.

love drop drops (!) his first release on gamm and goes all in for a jazz-disco-boogie affair that will be hard to resist. | lesette willson s jazzy boogie classic gets a proper rework with some female spiritual spoken word vocals on top. jupiter beyonds jazz-disco monster gets a heavy club edit and last but not least one of the best jazz-funk tracks of all time by johnny hammond smith gets a vocal treatment that just...works!

after being absent for a while, glance is returning with a uncompromising authentic record on footjob. it recently has become quieter around the man who used to be a founding member of running back, but for this occasion he went and dug in his archives and came back with some beautiful old tracks, just to compile them in a classic, full of groove second footjob ep. as a bonus he finishes and ends the record with two downbeat sounding songs in reminiscence of his former genre crossing alter ego siro. so this goes out to all the realkeeper, oldschooler und newcats. glance is back on the map.

another very special ep on al zanders a to z label teaming up this time with vocalist sheyi, for a one-off foray into broken beat territory. the story of its inspiration begins with a trip to notting hill record & tape exchange... after asking for some broken beat, the assistant ventured a withering opinion that -won t be monotonous enough, try the house music section instead- turns out it was phil asher of co-op fame - who, after establishing a genuine desire for said genre - sold al a bunch of west london music which became the influence for this ep. allowing sheyi to shine over a bare bones, syncopated rhythm track on the title cut and an equally stripped down satisfy al amps up the groove, with the g.i.t dub, which was made for ig culture s radio show. limited run on these - don t snooze !

the secret gem of space disco vibes, ichisan will be releasing his new ep via kanto records. first track of the ep, megla (the fog) is some sort of an instrument showcase by the slovenian producer, who used his analog synthesizers deftly to accompany the funk-house strumming of his bass and electric guitars, both played by the artist himself. veter (the wind) is a five-minute-long journey into the depths of unique and captivating musical mind of ichisan, daring to be simple yet invoking majestic feelings. third and fourth track of the ep, planica and yassa are more dancefloor oriented tunes that beam with positivity and energy, both have the potential to become anthems of the summer and beyond. arranged, recorder and mixed in ichisans own studio in ljubljana, the ep megla is brimmed with phenomenal beats that would not disappoint even the pickiest ears.

rarefied return after a deliciously jazzy release from their sister label. this time label mainstay zygos is at the helm for a release that blends rarefied’s penchant for outer-national sample digging, trap rhythmic formations, and psychedelic soundfields for a three track ep that feels like some other-wordly vhs tape found in the woods.

detroits javonntte steps up for the next installment from earl jeffers melange label. ive been a big fan of this mans music for a few years now, so its an honour to have him bless the label with some gems, and be the first artist to be on the label other than myself.

4th tilly jam with four deep disco / house slammer
folks, here is tilly jam number four, served by till von sein with a striking can’t stop, won’t stop attitude. as if the first three fourtrackers were just heating things up, he’s firing out another ensemble of four to bring serious exercise to the floor. “say say say”, the opening title track of this ep checks many trademarks its originator is known and praised for. an explicitly soulful affair, even flexing some g-funk muscles here and there. crackling vinyl noise in the background, warm and thick bass footing, a bassline doing the filterhouse-routine and a sample heavy arrangement that even gets a boost-up after half of its running time. then there is “shadrach”. go do some exegesis if interested where that name stems from. we can assure you, this jazz-infused build-up including nervous hi-hat patterns, a boldly bass groove, a frenzy drum-solo, inciting chants and a horn section scaling things up, stems directly from peaktime heaven. and on b1, “impala” is taking up the thread of this rather outgoing vibe, tvs is going for with this set of tunes. find an energetic beat providing the ground work for filtered adlibs that kinda nail what comes to mind when this track gets mixed in. “whoo-hoo-hoo” – that’s right. just add some subtle percussive lining and let a saxophone take over and you’ll have another trigger for floor-ecstasy at hand. cooling things off a little bit it’s “baden powell dr” as closing cut. tilly is winding up the melancholy-meter on this one, reversing elements and by adding pianochords and synth-pads, infusing an overall mood of wind-whistling summertime-sadness

saft is proud to present the official re-issue of the 1986 joan bibiloni band classic “the boogie”. the vocals by deborah carter still sound as relevant and uplifting as ever. the sought after guitar licks of bibiloni have appealed to a lot of generations ever since he started making name for himself in the early eighties. while in recent times some of the more experimental work has been re-issued and compiled through some respected labels, the dancefloor classic “the boogie” still remains the pinnacle of the guitarist more dancefloor oriented work.

the music on this ep was conceived in china, between 1989 and 1993. the original tracks were mixed to dat in real time, in a small neighbour-proof studio inside my apartment in macau, a 19th floor with a view to the hurricanes. there’s a small, unexpected or improbable story behind each track, some little magic fused with the local atmosphere, certainly guaranteeing their lasting authenticity 25 years later.

limited repress! for the third mouche release dutch artist ivano tetelepta has invited some of his closest friends to create not less than four fantastic dub infected and hypnotic grooves. his ep also marks the third edition of the so called -ivano tetelepta & friends--series. it all started with a record on highly acclaimed label fear of flying a few years ago and continued on rue de plaisance in 2016. now ivano brings out the third part on mouche. on the record he collaborates with the likes of ben buitendijk, tom liem, jocelyn abell and steven siwalette.

in the third of the ‘phobiza trilogy’ we are invited through the ethereal haze that separates our world from ramzi’s flourishing kindom. guided always by the deity’s music, we are given passage through the arcane archipelago that ramzi calls home, a place where animals, children and wild spirits share territories and cooperate in harmony in their plight to protect these ancient islands from the ceaseless threat of the great grey invasion. with the night closely following us, we are welcomed to these lands in dusk’s light, with the warm tones of ‘bibwel’ (featuring asaël robitaille on synth) carrying us across 11 different islets, all with unique climates, flora and fauna. after travelling for many a sunrise and sunset we take pause at mid day on ‘det calash’ isle (with some beats provided by regular fantasy). we ending our journey with a final sunset, this time on the foggy island of ‘warhasu’ (recorded on vancouver island with hashman deejay). amor fati (meaning “love of fate” or “love of one’s fate” in latin) comes as the inaugural release on phoebé’s own fati records and is the new nesting place for ramzi and its’ extended family. the record ends the ‘phobiza’ story, following ‘phobiza dia’ on total stasis and ‘phobiza noite’ on moodhut.

what do you get when you cross a frenchman, a dane, two irishmen and a swede? the debut various artists compilation from kyoku records, of course. gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back dorsi plantar, sune, long island sound and ethyene (alongside folamour and marc bianco). translating from japanese to a befitting -dancing birds-, the odoru tori ep is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. the orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. on the a side, the scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. dorsi plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with -senorita lolita-, although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he s now come to be known for. -californicate- from sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal golden state. on the flip side, long island sound follow the same recipe that made -delusions- such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of -ease in-. to top things off, ethyene, with the help of folamour and marc bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature french touch formula to great effect on the simply titled -good-.

the rising london based label is quickly defining his own and unique sound laying down the law with another live jam recorded 4 tracks release by his own boss dothedu. following the success of the first release, senseverse records has came back with lost acids ep, a rough lost minded trip with an unusual sense of refinement. the producer lets the trip s curtain rise with lost acids which takes us to a gloomy hidden place on the edge of the house and techno roots with a banging 909 and crescendo 303 which dives smoothly into the background own producer s voice, colombine acids explores the happier stage of the trip and keeps the sound on the thin line in between the 2 genres with his fat kick and the flying and clashing crashes. the b1 throws us right back deep into the dark with a slowed down and mentally twisted remix by the very well known producer florian kupfer. finally early acids rings down the curtain s trip with some fine classic house music sonorities that lead us to a dreamy and dancy closing.

second up on our bobby boyd unreleased recording we have some dope mid 80s material from bobby, “i like what you do to me” is boogie / proto house joint that is totally my bag, feels like it should be in a 80s movie weightlifting montage (in a good way) it just works on the dance floor so well.
on the flip things get even stronger with the proto-house banger “girl like you” a sick soulful number with with a biggest swinging kick drum i have ever heard, both proper club material.

one of the most coveted unreleased low rider / soul ballads. a huge tune, up there with darling dears (google that shit). only released on a japanese compilation 20 odd years ago without the bands consent (and with some of the channels missing) we bring you the full unreleased version for the first time. this is a big one for people who know the score.
if that’s not enough, we found this rather good unreleased disco gospel number on the master tapes of their private press lp sessions (also coming soon) but we had to give the ballad to the a side, roll the windows down and blast it.

ltd 2018 repress , regraded, a sub label of midlands graded imprint focusing on more disco leaning 4/4 music. with just two releases to the labels name from newcomer hubie davison and midland himself, regraded has already enjoyed some substantial attention from the strength of the music. midlands double feature became an overnight summer anthem and hubie davidsons sanctified become a late contender for track of the year. for regrd003 midland is back in the fold with a double header certain to soundtrack all kinds of summer moments. on the a-side final credits takes centre stage with joyous samples and a vocal line that will melt dance floors. on the b-side, vigilante takes on a more reserved menacing persona. dreamy whirling synth lines accent rolling live percussion. both tracks continue the strong run of form the label has been on.

verdant recordings continues its quest to provide a space for lesser-known artists exploring the deepest pockets of electronic music, not least around the 4/4 axis. next up on the label is the first public appearance from interjection, a london-based artist who has been cooking up an immersive sound for some time. her blissful solitude is a smoky deep house cut that drifts through heavy clouds of pads, while common places drops some brittle electro rhythms into the mix without lifting the veil of ambience. radiating soul has an equally intricate set of rhythms at work, with extra notes of 303 sprinkled over the top, and her nocturnal note finishes the ep off with a shimmering trip out to complement the a1.
