worship recordings with another solid ep release, this time featuring cuts from chris udoh and gary beck. udoh is up first with >hear da muzik<, a driving house gem with a definite dubby flavor, as delays are left to run over solid drum patterns, strong chords, and a rumbling bassline. on the reverse, gary beck keeps the dubby house theme rolling with >stick to the reggae<, which has more of a skank to its rhythm, as dubby delays are again left to exploit stellar percussion, stabbing horns, and a wandering bassline.

von spar is an artist collective from germany consisting of sebastian blume, jan philipp janzen, phillip tielsch and christopher marquez. the cologne-berlin quartet serves up a veritable ear-worm as an amuse bouche prior to their third album >foreigner<, which will be released at the end of may 2010 on italic recordings. the four deliver a rousing anthem enriched with a krauty disco groove and soulful close-harmony vocals for all of those late-night culture-vultures, oddballs and mother-in-laws nightmares propping up the bars at the discotheques of this world.

>esta si esta no< by the glimmers featuring baby g. is a cover version of one of the biggest euro rave anthems from the early nineties originally written and performed by spanish superstar dj chimo bayo. beautiful baby g (from lsb fame on eskimo recordings) took the vocals for her part whilst half of the glimmers house band disko drunkards are playing the instruments on this quite original adaptation. this release features three remixes. glimmers favorite german fella daniel haaksman (from berlin based man recordings) goes favella funk style with a very catchy sax hook and the amazing in flagranti is doing with the track what they can do best, making it very synthy disco sexy.. they deliver a vocal and an instrumental version.

from the discos capablanca guys a new project! los massieras are a reality only in your 70s boogie state of mind! this re-edit project formed by two berliner djs aims to bring a fresh approach to the art of bastardization. boogity boogity boogity is their first ep, which also launches the new (velvet) underground label bananamania. each track is quite different, from the floor-oriented boogie title track, to the mutant disco of >bananamania<, to the psychedelic delirium that is >shroom heaven<, which has already gained instant fans such as lovefingers.

four years in the making, analog africa finally presents the second volume of africas funkiest band, the mythical orchestre poly rythmo de cotonou. volume one (the vodoun effect - funk & sato from benins obscure labels, 1973 - 1975), released by analog africa at the end of 2008, was a collection of amazing lo fi recordings produced for various labels around benin. volume two showcases superbly recorded tracks, courtesy of the emi studios in lagos, nigeria, one of the best studios in the region. all tracks here were recorded for the mighty albarika store label and its enigmatic producer, adissa seidou.
