jungle/breakcore legends deformer are back with another horror infused release: “the living dead deformed”. deformer is known for putting the shock into electronic music and pushing the horror experience to another level. during their shows they cut off limbs and intestines are thrown into the audience while the extreme music turns the crowd into raging freaks. “the living dead deformed” pays hommage to one of the biggest horrorfilm classics of all time: “night of the living dead” (1968) and its creators.
the record was produced before the unfortunate passing of george a. romero. out of respect, deformer chose put out the record as a non-profit, limited edition, numbered by hand, green coloured vinyl release. the amazing cover art is created by legendary visual artist graham humphreys (a nightmare on elm street, the evil dead, poltergeist).
“the living dead deformed” is dark, menacing and will again turn parties into moshpits. they won’t stay deaf!

samuel van dijk is an electronic music producer, sound designer and media artist from the netherlands releasing deep electronic music as vc-118a, mohlao, and multicast dynamics. drawing inspiration from technology, nature, film, and fiction, his productions and live sets embody a dynamic musical framework. since the dutchman surfaced as mohlao for labels like meanwhile, field and other heights at the turn of the decade, van dijk?s music has found a firm position, the ethereal electro vc-118a project, deep ambient techno as mohlao, and subterranean ambient as multicast dynamics.

john cohen aka dead fader first arrived on the label in 2016, with it works 1 - a brace of warping, high energy electronic music compositions that while largely unclassifiable in genre, maintain a gloriously vibrant, emotive sensibility that owes much to early idm excursions, and the more abstract tenets of the krautrock genre. that said - the artist cites anything from kanye west to bach and back again as informing the decidedly experimental and potentially confounding work - and his latest offering for the milan based label continues to riff on this open ended mesh of influence to great effect. the original material is buoyed by a formidable remix package, featuring downwards affiliate jk flesh - who turns in a caustic reinterpretation of fyi, roly porter of vexd and tri angle fame, who takes on raw food, and planet mus konx-om-pax, whos reimagining of life cycle closes out proceedings. its an admirable line up, in keeping with the aesthetic concerns of cohens excellent lp - and the chosen artists turn in respectful but wholly personal work - making for an excellent addition to growing parachute discography. parachuterecords.

acid paulis second album ‘bld dropped earlier this year to a rapturous reception. martin gretschmanns trippy opus took in various stops around the musical spectrum, yet remained committed to quality dance-floor tracks that refuse to follow any particular rule book. this collection of remixes of the albums a side (hence the name) only adds to that achievement - bringing yet more new flavours and takes from some of the most exciting names in the underground. ‘abbebe gets a rework from sainte vie who brings his trademark ‘multicultural electro sound to the albums opener, and produces an ecstatic mid-paced groover for the heads. oceanvs orientalis drops a similarly exciting rerub, finding new angles and dimensions to the track ‘baris. tel avivs red axes turn up the psychedelica for the duos amazing dissection of ‘ayam - deep sounds immersed in acidic tones and tight-yet-wonky arrangements. lastly ‘majid gets the treatment from label co-head nico stojan who produces a sleek and spacy remix that will delight the early morning ravers.

for the 108th installment in the ever expanding planet rhythm catalog, a various artists effort has been planned with some of the label’s usuals and some exciting names we have had our eye on for a while now. for the a-side, arts label owner emmanual brings his much appreciated e100 to vinyl. previously released digitally through his own imprint, this cut has been sought after for a while now. second up is eindhoven native albert van abbe. albert has been making a lot of waves for a long time now and we’re very glad to welcome him to the prruk family. more to ignore 04 is a funked out piece of machine music that will definitely turn some heads. the b side is opening with elyas the hangman. the mysteryman that gained some infamy through his releases on modularz and olympian delivers a cutting edge techno work-out. closing down this va 12” is mendy. returning to prruk for the 2nd time, mendy has come up with elevation which is a chordy techno theme for peak hours.

ike yard recombine their music looking across decades of post punk, electronic, soundtracks and come out with some of their best yet and enough to last the next 20-30 years (in ike yard s very own words). originally founded in 1979 new york city, members michael diekmann (keyboard, guitar, vocals), kenneth compton (programming drums, synths arrangements, bass, guitar, vocals) and stuart argabright (programming drums, synths arrangements, distortion bass, keyboards, metal perc) reformed the band once in 2007 and again in 2010. each time different and with new ambitions. this time ‘sacred machine’ ep is defined by detailed drum layers supported by multiple basses and keyboards, some off-timing beat patterns that turn in a second of synchrony into a straight four on the floor kick and first time vocal collaborations.

per martinsen aka mental overdrive is one of norwegian dance musics founding fathers. alongside friends such as bjorn torske, biosphere, rune lindbaek and dj strangefruit, martinsen was integral in laying the foundations of norways now blossoming dance music scene during the late 1980s and early 90s. as a producer, he cut his teeth making house, techno and hardcore for belgian imprints ssr and r&s records at the turn of the 90s. he was a regular at the r&s studio in ghent, programming and mixing for other artists including joey beltram. since then, per has continued to produce and release quality electronic music, both under his mental overdrive alias (see releases on full pupp, smalltown supersound, rett i fletta and his own love od communications imprint), and as part of outfits such as frost (alongside his other half, aggie peterson) and illumination/ chilluminati. per is featured heavily in ben davis and pete jenkinsons documentary film chronicling the rise of norwegian dance music, ‘northern disco lights.

since jim coles took on the mantle of om unit, the english producer has sought to challenge himself and his audience by going beyond the confines of genres and styles he has so far explored. in the process he has found success by striving for more feeling, for a more human and daring electronic music. this journey continues with ‘self’, coles’ third album as om unit and a true follow-up to his 2013 debut ‘threads’.
‘self’ captures coles in a period of growth, change, and experimentation. inspired by personal psychological and emotional healing work, and a vision of the self as an egg — which coles later on discovered is a jungian archetype — the album blends dubwise, bass-heavy music with the space of experimental ambient compositions and the daring imagination of a cold wave science fiction soundtrack.

rezz s involvement in the toronto scene helped grow her gritty style. events like bassmentality and older shows at the legendary guverment helped shape not only rezz, but an era of electronic music producers who became inspired from early dj college tours. mass manipulation is a commentary on how easily our minds can become manipulated by the things we consume in society. we consume heavily through the media, which, in turn, tries to curate our thoughts and dictate how we as humans are supposed to live and behave. this album plays off this idea and invites people to become hypnotized, allowing their brains to be manipulated by my music in the hope they might see things through a new perspective (perhaps an outer world viewpoint). one where everyone is free from the unrealistic expectations planet earth has drawn for them. a world of acceptance and hypnosis.
