illusion recordings off shoot label innercircle is back for its fourth edition with french house wizard andrade stepping up for his debut ep with the illusion crew. andrade featured a remix on inc003 on james barnsley s huge spellbinder ep and after delivering the goods illusion were keen for him to flex his musical muscles across a full ep.
andrade has been on a rich vein of form recently releasing on delano smiths mixmode label, one records and dessous to widespread acclaim, cementing his standing as one of the most talented house producers around.

maeve is the record label run by three close friends, mano le tough, the drifter and baikal. some years ago, mano and the drifter ran a clubnight in berlin called passion beat. aera was their guest a couple of times. its very fitting that aera now joins us for maeve 06. aera s original you know juno comprises of warm arps and a dark hypnotic bassline over a jacking house beat. on first hearing the track, the drifter was keen to do a remix. his interpretation is a dark take on the original, boosting the bassline, adding a driving beat and pushing the drama to high levels.

in about 2003 i did some work for deepfunk and northern soul legend keb darge and as was the way back then i received payment in vinyl. included in the pile was this little detroit number which i instantly fell in love with. in 1980 david mcmurray and adell shavers and david mcmurray (who went on to be a member of 80s hit band was not was) wrote and produced this amazing detroit modern / boogie 45 which for some reason suffered the same fate of many of aotn releases and disappeared from history. but thanks to the generation of collectors before me this gem sat safely in northern collection such as kebs for years waiting for its day in the sun. it only got limited play but recently the record has had a resurgence in popularity and value which it deserves. after a tip off from jason stirland (soulstax records) i found david mcmurray and it was wonderful to find he was keen to help me bring this wonderful 45 back into the limelight. so here we are…

it s only so long before liam geddes becomes a name you ll start hearing on the worldwide underground stage. having already churned out a number of uncompromisingly deep house tracks over the past couple of years, he comes armed with another exceptional ep on mil - the third release on the new music is love sister label - that further demonstrates his genuine dynamism as a producer. the with closed eyes ep should win this very talented producer the recognition his fresh beat work deserves into the wild gets proceedings underway, a ripping bassline paves out over rattling percussion shakes while oscillating dream like jingles play out during the course of the track. chopped vocal samples are introduced and tease against the shuffling drums which elevates the track with real drive and groove. close ya eyes for the journey packs the same layer of heat with its similarly groove-heavy bassline - a staple of geddes well-crafted sound. firmly footed, intermittent chimes seep into the track and are complemented by siren-like chords which grow truer in presence, until a hypnotic vocal snippet fulfils the deep terrains of the track. a saint is a tumultuous techno-fused roller with it s rip-roaring bassline and percussive loops which rhythmically swing out over shuddering pads, sustained chords and a cut up female vocal, brining a twist of colour to the arrangements of the track. there s a keen sense of tension and release, elevating this above your average and confirms geddes does depth and darkness with real conviction. broke will surely prove a high point for any decent dj set, and sounds like a cut you d expect from someone like delano smith. strings faintly play out over looped key chimes and a funk-like riff, while ticking hi-hats and a careful use of vocal sample gives the track extra heat, each element powered by the rumbling bassline.

after the recent success of their expansive debut full length on idle hands and while they bask in the glory of their recently well received resident advisor podcast, jacob hodge and matt lambert push on with a new ep on bristols futureboogie. to date outboxx have fomented their own ebullient house style that is imbued with a keen sense of uplifting melody, plenty of analogue dust and some heavyweight bass, largely on bristol based labels, and this new ep sees them continue in that fine form.

madteo (aka matteo ruzzon) creates music whose understatement is overwhelmingly compelling. an italian native who moved to new york city in the early 90s, madteo has forged a production style that casts techno, house, and hip-hop in a gritty, stripped-down subterranean murk. his keen ear for unusual tonalities and his inventive tweaking of rhythmic tropes lend his music a functionality that feels anything but perfunctory.

the a-side of avida002 was created by the romanian producer mihai popoviciu. with his reformulation of *whispering* he succeeds in forging a keen and dynamic tech-house remix, not lacking of deepness, under the temperament of sonorous drumrolls. he artfully bridges past the original mix and hones an overall dancefloor-tailored release, which must not pass by house-lovers.

for their 10th release manchester based label my first moth present a collaboration between two visionary artists from opposite sides of the atlantic. new york born rapper blurum 13 should need no introduction after lacing countless records from the last decade with his distinctive gravel-voiced flow, most notably the classic ninja tune album >children of possibility< which he recorded as one-third of one self alongside dj vadim and yarah bravo. producer frameworks is a relative newcomer although still fiercely prolific, having notched up collaborations with long island legends qnc and uk rapper bang on amongst others. with releases on first word records, hero records and organik recordings, frameworks is quickly forging a reputation for a solid production technique, fusing old-school sensibilities with a touch of live instrumentation and a keen ear for a killer sample.

after putting on parties in london for many years, the techno sessions crew finally release

assemble music returns with a three-track ep from colognes david joseph aka st. joseph, exploring further the refined, tripping path forged on the labels previous release from daze maxim. the pianos, vocal snatches and ambient hiss of josephs releases on platzhirsch are present and correct, but here the jazz flourishes are reduced down into something far slicker. these tracks have been prepared using a keen blade, and none sharper than >personal dancefloor<. heavy drum programming and a rumbling bottom end bring to mind theo parrish in his moodier moments, but the deal is sweetened by light piano, garage-like vocal samples and a deep, burning 4 love bassline. >indigo< spins the duke ellington classic into a spiralling, shuffling chugger that will bring a 30s harlem spirit to enterprising dancefloors. move the needle to the b2, though, for the eps party hit. written in 2009 and reflecting that years raw arrangements and joyous samples, >wave/table/muscle< finally gets a vinyl release, proving this sound endures to this day. expect more of the same from assemble music with their next release featuring vera and ricardo villalobos.

bastard jazz is proud to present the debut ep from brussels based production duo eric p & luigi aka monkeyrobot. coming to light through their work as 74 miles away (melting pot music) and tall black guy, who selected their standout >basement infusion< track to be on his tempo dreams compilation album (released in june on bastard jazz), and alliance between the label and m.r. seemed natural.
here on their self titled 12 inch, monkeyrobot deliver four diverse tracks that showcase their skills behind the boards, the keys, with a keen ear for the dancefloor. kicking things off, >brick stomach< is a synth-heavy four-to-the-floor 120 bpm joint that comes off like a floating points visit back in time to 1980s detroit with its rolling snares, arpeggiating synth bassline and cloudy pads. next up, >northern light< filters shimmering space disco vibes through big, thumping instrumental hip-hop drums and moody analog bass. on the flip, >rose gris< takes things in a funkier direction at 100bpm with its syncopated drums, irresistible lead, squelching bassline and all manner of synthesizer explorations. rounding off the ep is >last days<, which still manages to inject a funky 80s analog sound into its melancholy downtempo vibes.

after firmly establishing their nu funk steez in the digital realm with countless releases, london label boogie boutique reached into the glamorous world of vinyl in fine style just before christmas with the double 12 inch drop a year on wax. they elect to continue their twelve inch shaped adventures with a label regular at the helm in the shape of funk ferret. the new zealander has featured on many a boogie boutique release, as well as other nu funk labels such as booty pirates and ghetto funk, so keen observers of the scene will know what to expect. >pushin forward< features the mic spitting skills of imagine this, whose mr lif style delivery is the perfect foil for a trademark mid tempo bass heavy bump from the ferret. boogie boutique have assembled a fine cast of remix talent too, with big beat veteran cut la roc dropping a fine sample heavy revision that allows the vox to shine. fellow bb artist and montreal dweller nick fonkyson adds some crunchy riffage to the mix, whilst the funk ferrets regrooved sound system partner dj alias concentrates on teasing out some bassline deviancy with some help from benson.

for uzuri 018 we return to one of our home grown artists – jitterbug. time has flown since his last release for us in 2010, but we have been quite eager to get some new material out from him for a while – and, based on feedback we have had, plenty of other people are keen to hear more from him too. both his raw winter and beaten trax eps were pretty popular releases for us and his dj appearances always create a stir, so we are pleased to bring you this, the arcane theory ep. the track sequencing on this record is pretty aggressive – front-loaded with the confrontational rise of the machines. a track that really lives up to its title, sounding like the production line at cyberdyne systems… all stomp and evil synths, like a bad mood e-dancer. fallout couldnt be further from that – relaxed and making no attempt at all to get in your face. itll win you over, though. just a nice, deep groove and a lovely, phased beat. could play it for hours… the whole of the flip is devoted to nomads, a chiming, acidic wander. nearly eleven minutes in length. the kicks never at the fore on this one – most of the action occurs at the mid and high frequencies – a resonant 303, lots of hi hats and, later, synths which expand on the eastern-flavour of the track title

token is 5 years old. i never planned to do anything special for this occasion. however, when i received these 2 new tracks from phase, all just fell into place. this release pretty much sums up what token stands for since day one. both tracks are fierce pieces of relentless yet deep techno, in-your-face yet very subtle rhythms, all credited to phases detailed drum programming, keen sense of atmospherics & sound processing.

after a short break aaron jays influence records is back with another top draw 12 from none other then liquid master random movement. having released an album on markys innerground label last year, random movement was keen to drop a 12 inch on influence and what a 12 it is. both sides are dance floor killers, both on heavy rotation at fabric and have been supported by the likes of spy, fabio, lynx, grooverider & bailey.

having finished recording the new zombie zombie album (out: april 2012), etienne jaumet leaves temporarily the duo to record a solo piece, as a need to find oneself again … if the word satori means spiritual awakening, the title track that offers etienne seems to describe the way to this awakening … a winding and sometimes dark path, taking inspiration from both dark disco and synth wave (etienne is particularly keen of those genres, you can listen to his new podcast for versatile records as an evidence) and also to some kind of trance… on b side, jon convex, newcomer on the dubstep / uk garage field and signed on martyns label, delivers a clearly club oriented version, by injecting syncopated beat and the funky groove unique to uk garage.

gabe catanzaro is a kind of -king of italo disco made in usa-. after the first appearance on international deejay gigolo in 2000, he has reached the swiss labels mental groove and viking music with unforgetable gems like memories and ex-girlfriend . later he has released the amazing i can still remember on john selway s label memory boy, and also a full lenght on laboraudio called (la febbre dell italo disco) (italo disco s fever, translated from italian language). finally, after some years of break and a couple of remixes for dj gio mc-505, he come back with a ep full of italo disco and synth pop references. essential for who love the sound of the 80s.

the brilliantly monikered big strick - familial elder to omar s and responsible for the odd killer release on his younger cousins fxhe imprint - belatedly sates the appetite of record collectors keen to indulge in his recent album detroit heat with a six track selection of the choicest cuts spread across this twelve inch. seemingly drawing influence from a myriad of motor city influences, detroit heat impressively flits between murky deep house, tracky techno and hypnotic jack-tracks. like many of his contemporaries, strick is a sucker for cement mixer production - that distinctly detroitian sound where every beat, groove or bassline sounds like the master tapes have been marinated in grit. that trademark sound, alongside a solid selection of floor-friendly grooves, makes detroit heat an excellent addition to the motor city house canon. the rubbery spinal atmospherics of >under tone< and the tony coates vocally assisted jack of >maybe 1 day< are particular highlights!

from the murky manchester backstreets, the el diablos social club main man neil diablo (aka the midnight chopper alongside cohort mr masters) stalks his balearic-rock prey with a sharp eye for a groove and a keen sense of razor sharp riffing! on this outing they turn their attention away from the over-subscribed disco edit scene, instead focusing on something a bit more bearded, a bit more rock.

his debut four track ep highlights his individual approach to song writing with the gorgeous, deep and moody >i am machinery<, a fitting title for a track where the human voice integrates seamlessly into the analogue electronics of the machines. >pointers’ changes the mood and aims at the dancefloor, with strings and synths fully indebted to detroit techno, but with a constant human touch from his jazzy scat cutting in and out of the heavy groove. >some days< has the biggest sound on the ep with multiple vocal tracks layering over the crisp drums and pulsating synths. hes combined his keen ear for melody and a firm grasp of the dancefloor for this track, making it many djs favourite on the ep due to a club friendly structure, yet striking originality. >set myself on fire< closes the ep at a mellow tempo, and can easily hypnotise the listener with its repetitive vocals, haunting whistles and sleazy beats. this is only for the beginning for debukas, these four tracks are just an introduction to one of the finest talents from the uk electronic underground

new vocal 12 inch on wph....tip! it should be obvious by now that we here at the wph camp are keen on real vocals. so while the rest of the world is busy sampling and recycling vocals from the past, leave it up to us to pick out those tracks that feature fresh and home made vocals. although wph 012 by dj yellow also indulges in a little bit of recycling, or rather good old fashioned licensing. the title track >night in tranzylvania< has been a huge favourite with label boss red d and his belgian crowd ever since it was released on the criminally overlooked album >intermission< on project recordings in 2008. but now it is back in all its glory and supported by >angels part< a killer ambient track which also featured on that album album, >je tm<, a new track by dj yellow and a russ gabriel remix of the title track.

in a time where we have seen a full through back to the sound of the 90s where almost every new record sounds exactly like it was made back in the day. its so refreshing to have producers like martin tc around. hailing from montevideo uruguay, former member of the now defunct monoblock project martin tc proves again that its all about the cutting edge of modern funkyness. delivering a ultra funky, jazz injected techno bomb of an ep. we are proud to present martin tcs first solo project and most definitely not his last. in situ on side a is an exploration in chicago style jack combined with a keen sense latin groove and definitely is the money ticket, a sure shot bomb, a burner, a floor filler, a wmd, explosive, techno poetry in motion… if i do say so… side b continues with the funkyness of bukle but takes in further into a more challenging up tempo realm that can go either way in a house or techno set. al fin y al cabo and vice versa are an excellent reminder that techno jazz is still here and that the swing will never die.

full length double lp from stockholms biggest sound, skudge..tip! although the duo was only formed in summer 2009, they have already moved out of near anonymity to become precious favourites of deep, warehouse-styled house and techno fans. their output to date has moulded together classic ideas and modern aesthetics with a keen sense of minimalism: their looped soundscapes are often bare, but never lacking, and the intersection between house and techno seems to be the point at which the duo most often find themselves. as a result, thats the area most explored on their debut album, phantom, which conjures up exactly the sort of adjectives you should imagine given its title.

all 4 tracks contrast tuff dry drums & low sweeping subs with cosmic atmospheres and twilight melodies and chords. theres a unique strictness in the drums here, less swung than typical garage but with innovative programming that shows a producer keen to explore new possibilities. as ever with well rounded and our producer friends, we are celebrating influences from the past - think classic 4/4 uk garage in the vein of dem 2, mixed with early 90s rave sounds and welded together in a motor city car plant. with added post-dubstep production sensibilities, littlefoot is creating an unheralded hybrid sound. all 4 tracks contribute to the completeness of the ep - we go in hard, explore different areas and complete our journey with the last track. we hope you enjoy this trip.
