this june session victim returned to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there. here we present the third of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew.

superb unreleased 80s ambient cassettes remastered ! robert scott pearsons musiccan be seen as surrealist, impressionist, post industrial, mystical or avant-garde, but it goes beyond categories. his work embraces software, philosophy, poetry, visual arts, and generative algorithmic creation in general. at an early age, he began to experiment in this field, and released his first music privately on cassette, being part of the 80s underground industrial scene in seattle. post-industrial, futuristic, but not really nihilistic, his beautiful music melts expressive synth leads with arpeggios soundscapes, and drum machines flashes and lights, to take us in another reality.

just a few months after its first release, nitsa traxx comes back with a very special 12”. the project started with a file exchange between eduardo de la calle and ferenc. they decided to work each track on their own side using only a few isolated sounds from the other. this way none of the tracks could never be treated as a full original, but proper remixes of tracks that never existed, building an uncanny, almost dreamlike emotion. a side is for ferenc’s “parón largo”, where synthetic strings are omnipresent and time and space unbends, evolving to an anticlimax where an eerie vocal and the longest possible drop are the leading trademark. a never ending and emotional standstill that goes deeper than the mariana trench. eduardo de la calle uses his distinctive signature sound in the b side. “cloaking tech d fly d” is an obsessive yet beautiful track that reminds us of the somewhere in detroit series. this is a mental and heart-warming tribute to the motor city sound that just a producer like eduardo could do. next releases are on the corner already, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

office recordings continues to surprise us. after baaz s techno-/ambient-hybrid on office 011 the label from berlin comes up with a stunning new and anonymous project called * one day* featuring four also unnamed tracks. the a-side of the record starts off with a with a superb deep techno track which tempts us with very emotional pads and a strong kick and bass fundament û an irresistible combination. a2 goes in the same direction but feels like the slightly mellower and softer brother of its predecessor û a little bit moody but still straightforward at the same time. the flip side is dedicated to two freestyle electronic tracks standing in the tradition of the best warp offerings from their heyday in the 90s. weÆre talking charming melodies and sparse but elaborate rhythmic patterns. the record comes in a hand stamped and with a lovely artwork also hand made by office art director super quiet. all tracks have been mastered and cut by sound engineering proficient pole at scape mastering.

nick the record is one of the uk s most respected record dealers as well as a highly gifted dj of the underground disco, afro, soul, funk and house scene since the early 90s. for those who don t know he was 1/2 of soul ascendants that released some serious fela inspired house on nuphonic records in the late 90 s. he s currently enjoying a well deserved hype due to his heavy compilations on z records and various remixes. for his first release on gamm he goes all disco with two big reworks that are sure to get the heads moving. lifeforce theme is a tribute to the japan collective where he was resident dj for over 20 years. recordnition is a heavy percussion n philly disco burner that got that deep nyc disco feel all over it. nick definitely got the records.

the sub label of sonic groove, -sonic groove experiments-, returns after a 4 year hiatus with a stellar re-release of the electrowave classic -eruption- by beta evers. originally released as a limited edition 12- back in 2005 on beta s own kommando 6 label. now in 2017 the original pressing goes for quite a fortune on the record collecting market. often exceeding €60 for a mint copy. for the first time in a dozen years this release is available on vinyl in its original running order but with very sleak new artwork for the normal asking price of a new store bought 12-.

the tenth output of invite’s choice records is another hard hitting banger made by border one.
drumrim’s straightforward four to the floor kick is accompanied by a hard hitting bass and a repetitive leadsound that evolves throughout the track. the overdriven hihats and rides combine well with the panicky sound. diffuse goes along with the flow set by the a1 track, yet has a bit more percussive feel to it due to the toms added.
hatchet on the b-side provides an aggressive kick and percussive elements. the sound evolves around one overdriven synth sound that drains you in to the track. perfect for fast transitions while mixing. copylust ends the ep a bit slower bpm wise, but emits the same energy as the previous tracks. straight-forward, hypnotising, hard hitting contemporary techno.
another great showcase of the talent harvested by invite’s choice.

dj octopus has been busy in the last few years, appearing often alongside steve murphy on labels like love notes, chiwax, hot haus and shall not fade. on this new double pack for house crime he goes it alone, bringing the kind of raw, off-kilter but ultimately fun vibe that the label seems to plump for. born in 86 is an absolute head driller of a track, looped up but utterly addictive, while diastemia offers a very different kind of disco-infused groove. this personality split runs throughout, ensuring there s never a dull moment diving into any of these sides of wax. check the toy is mine if you need proof that octopus knows how to throw it down.

man power has proven on many occasions to be adept at all manner of different moods within the hardware house canon, but on this occasion hes particularly focusing on creating an exotic feeling out of mechanical means. tropical bastard is a fitting title for this project for not an animal records, with the original steeped in driving patterns of rhythm and melody that approximate a flavour of far flung lands while mutating the feeling into something more club-minded. lord of the isles goes one step further with a remix that ramps the modulation up to devilishly wonky levels. tropical bastard 2inch is an entirely different beast that plays on a cinematic vision of tropical escape, but with an acid thread pulsing through it. then the frank butters remix finishes the ep off with a more submerged, but equally mischievous take.

for the 6th release fabe goes solo again with a four tracker that includes all his musical facets starting with an a side which actually transports his most club characterized work. on the b side everything gets more melodic and hypnotizing chord pads are telling the story further...

september marks the return of mindtrips don on his imprint with a dark, intense and musical exploration, followed by a signature remix by ukranian icon stanislav tolkachev. rise of the white dwarf welcomes you into a trippy journey. double existence goes into a darker dimension of broken patterns and modular jam. they want to fool us is a clear statement by pfirter who delivers a raw, stormy techno track that keeps a melancholic twinge, while stanislav tolkachev makes his long awaited debut on mindtrip with a psychedelic, strong and driving interpretation of this original piece.

cult duo rework are next up on my favorite robot with a five track ep that shows off their brilliantly inventive house and tech style. the production outfit of daniel varga, michael kuebler deal in left of centre and freaky house with a mischievous afterparty slant. they have been active for more than a decade now and have credits on great labels like visionquest, items & things, meant and the institution that is playhouse. the brilliantly sleazy “talk it off” opens things up with popping drums, playful lyrics and a steely sound that is designed for wonky basement parties. “valencia” goes deeper with warm drums and synths surging along next to an elastic groove that is propped up by energetic and incendiary chord stabs. it’s a subtle but high impact track that will raise the energy levels on any floor. “think about you” has vocals coated in echo and delay and trippy synths that are lively and off kilter. it makes for a track that is brilliantly loose and undulating and cannot fail to get under your skin. final track “attractive” heads in a much more techno direction with surging drums and hypnotic slithering synths that burrow deep into your brain and seep into the night. it is trance inducing for sure, and shows another side to this accomplished outfit. this is a versatile ep stuffed with killer cuts for many different moments in the night, and each is as standout as the next.

neil landstrumm - bad life choice club ep are bad life choices a bad thing or actually quite good really? neil landstrumm invites you to join his club of fools with this effort on moustache records. its money badly invested if you do but endless selfish pleasure awaits the brave. don t blame me if it all goes wrong. i warned you. idiot. this six track lp from the early 1980s contains pleasure seeking electro-pop and beastly disco lust, heard from the other side of mute records black leatherette covered door this record is made by neil landstrumm (rip) on fuck all with shit speakers. ably assisted by tommy stuart and his wall of modular synth and a pork pie on at least two occasions. made for the french but they didn t have enough money to pay for it. fuck the tories and brexit. scotland wanted to stay in the european union. we hope you all know that.

fort romeaus second outing for running back is another exercise in dance floor synthesis. starting where its predecessor saku left us with the green shimmer of a fairlight, emulators you might have guessed it greets us with the grey realism of an e-mu ii. purchased first by none other than stevie wonder, immortalised in ferris buellers ode to absenteeism and the original loon sampler, there is nothing this machine cannot do for you the same goes for fort romeau. his disco-informed, trance-induced tracks that usually end on a high note, are elevated by ambient soundscapes that end with a bang and sugarcoat your warm-up slots, while bird-heavy bonus beats that stand up on their own or help you out in the mix. nice like a stick of liquo-rice.

it goes without saying that space has always been central to techno – both in terms of its cosmic and futuristic trajectory, as well as in the spatial dimensions of sonic elements. etapp kyle’s first full ostgut ton ep release sees the ukrainian-born, berlin- based berghain resident emphasizing the connection between the two, while avoiding techno’s overt intergalactic clichés. by partially linking to his continuum ep (unterton, 2016), the results are four tracks of pristine, sci-fi minimalism, propelled by ambient synths and percussive explosions in distant skies – more utopian than dystopian. opener “alpha” establishes the cosmic theme from the get go, with chord swells and a whirring, phasing spacewind panning across the stereo image. while a subdued kickdrum gets things started, it’s the rhythmic interplay between dynamic high-hats and halled-out rimshots that guide the track through space. from there, “quantum” on a2 strips the voyage down to a glowing, unwavering arpeggiated synth line, interspersed with twisted, high-pitched bells and updated 909- esque snare patters.

before there was a man in black, there were the sun records years, when cash began defining his peculiar and witty version of country music. born in arkansas in 1932, cash began recording as a top artist for sun records, for which he released his first full-length lp. this double lp set documents all the hits from 1955 to 1958, before cash signed to columbia records. these 35 “first steps” helped build the legend and are considered the milestones of an incredible career that ended with those passionate and soulful albums on the “american recordings” series released between 1994 and 2003, the year jr cash died on sept 12.

with releases on loxy’s cylon and a track on the final hardware lp, the enigmatic shiken hanzo goes all-in on the first vinyl release on his own label hojo clan - and it’s an absolute lesson in claustrophobic half-time futurism.
the title track drapes the relentless velvety punch of 808s in a swirling landscape of spidery synth trails and mushrooming low-end radioactivity, reminding us of clarity’s precision futurescapes on samurai.
“yari vip” exhumes the bones of “shadowboxing” in its melody and layers them hypnotically across another dark, interrupted creeper.

ursa’s reef is a late 80’s traveller and surfer wandering endlessly in the secluded raves of goa, searching for his own soul while dancing in abandon to the proto-trance journeys of goa gil. brought up in sintra, portugal, by a family of uptight catholic hypocrites, ur goes rogue in his early 20’s, seduced by the esoteric teachings of levi, pessoa, crowley and israel regardie while keeping an unhealthy obsession with roxy music. he is also a fictional, made up persona - a musical heteronym - of lisbon-based dj and producer marco rodrigues, mostly known for his work under the name photonz. together with his friend jose acid - a musical heteronym of joao ervedosa aka shcuro - he makes one last trip to goa that could prove fatal.

keope is the musical brainchild of toni bruna and marcus rossknecht. with the aim to record an album they ve met in an abandoned quarry on the slovenian border. the outcome tropicalni seems to exist in a vacuum. stylistically, all tracks here owe something to multiple genres and reference points - from folk, balearic, psychedelic and electronica, but none really fit well. synths drift in breezily, floating around the wistful melodies, acoustic guitars sparkle, while flutes & the beats hint at a deeper connection to dance rituals.
limited 12 inch vinyl edition of 250 only coming in a handmade and numbered artwork. each record is highly unique as it goes through an artisan process of hand-printing, folding, glueing and numbering which highlights the aim for creating unique and long-lasting pieces of art.

after a long standstill, elypsia records is back in full-effect with an amazing release by scan 7, an artist collective from detroit whose existence goes back to the early days of detroit techno. scan 7 is considered by many as a pioneer of the underground detroit sound. this new release features the original version of scan 7’s “burdens down-, a brand-new song written & produced by detroit-techno newcomer mr. hooper featuring maurice jackson on vocals. the track - which has been performed live at the movement festival 2017 - has been very well-received by detroit insiders who see it as a new classic song of the genre. the package also includes the terrence parker’s radio edit of “burdens down” and the gospel-influenced “thank you lord-.

same speed sambas are back to celebrate the sound of the summer in 2017 in their very own unique way. following on from last year s now hugely sought after debut, they have dug even deeper, searching out for more obscure uses of brasilian rhythms and coming up with two dance floor delights â&#128,&#147, one from denmark and another from right here in the uk â&#128,&#147, giving them once again, that unique same speed re-touch. samba operator takes a rare live recording of one of the uk s finest soul acts of the 80s biggest hits and re-works it into a mostrous tropical club anthem, while numero dois goes down the samba-not-samba route taking a danish 70s girl band and giving them some very warm disco treatment. the result is something very contemporary sounding that ll fire up the dance every time. all same speed releases are limited, hand-stamped vinyl-only affairs, but also be on the look out for the occasional re-work of more contemporary artists, available for free download as a little treat, to pimp up your dj sets this summer.

we are officially under exclusive rights reissuing a very special privetly pressed 45, -silver satin- by axis. originally released back in 1984, axis was a short-lived band formed in california by guitar player/vocalist byron bordeaux. back in 80s, record was never officially distributed, with only a couple of hundred 45s made, and sold exclusively at their shows. byron recorded a good deal of demo tracks, which for the next 30 years would go unreleased, all stuck on a pile of 8-track and cassette tapes. you can find one of these tracks on the flipside of this 7- - -runaway love- was completely recorded and performed by byron circa 1986. following the band s dissolution, byron continued performing, eventually ending up playing alongside the likes of bobby womack, buddy miles and the gap band. fast forward three decades later, -silver satin- is a sought after record on the collectors market that when found, goes for triple figures on ebay, discogs and the like. heavy support from jeremy underground as played live at dimensions 2016.

double sided crossover magic (i have been slacking on crossover records). douglas and lonero had a few releases, an lp a couple of 45s on columbia but there stand out (and rarest) 45 is this fantastic crossover 45 this time . what makes this interesting is that most copies of the original are demo copies which only have the track don t let yourself get carried away on it and cost around £50. the rare issue copy which is pretty impossible goes for £500+. not only does our new pressing include both tracks but we have gone back to the original master tapes and done a spanking 24bit transfer and a cut that sounds considerably better than the original 45, so now you can upgrade your o.g.

sunlightsquare s first single of 2017, oyelo, is a mixture of jazz, cuban and house music in its most authentic form. starting with moody latin-jazz piano and sun-drenched live percussion played by master percussionist giovanni imparato, the track is driven by the classic house beat of the tr-909 - the legendary 1980 s drum machine. ronnie scott s resident cuban singer rene alvarez delivers the impassioned vocals, followed by the main man claudio passavanti s heated montuno piano riffs, which combine seamlessly to create a blissful, dance-floor experience. it s a perfect marriage of organic grooves, lush beats and soulful vocals, joining the dots between different generations of latin dance music.
for the b side, london based, japanese producer kay suzuki transformed the original track into his signature psychedelic journey in 2 parts. his by the sea mix takes you to the havana beach with its synthesiser generated waves & seagulls right from the intro. the stripped-down beats and vocals are smoothly laid out with warm analogue synth textures, giving more space to claudio s tasteful latin-jazz keyboard improvisations. in contrast, the drum dub goes to the opposite side of the spectrum, all the musical elements have been removed, focusing solely on the live percussion and the raw tr-909 beat, all dubbed out with tape delays for a classic cosmic dub treatment.

imbued with the energy and ideas from all the creative embers floating in the atmosphere like fireflies, shabazz palaces recorded this entire album over the course of two weeks with blood in seattle. new gear and new equipment disintegrated comfort zones into dust and a new path appeared in the rubble.
herein the palaceer continues the tale of quazars, a sentient being from somewhere else, an observer sent here to amurderca to chronicle and explore as a musical emissary. what he finds in our world is a cutthroat place, a landscape where someone like him could never quite feel comfortable amidst all the brutality and alternative facts and death masquerading as connectivity.
