some still know very little about t&b artist josefine jinder, so let us introduce her to you. in august 2008 we saw the debut ep of little jinder, >polyhedron<, and soon after in october 08 we gave >polyhedron< the remix treatment with loads of t&b producers. in june 09, after countless gigs and production work, jinder returned to the t&b catalog with >youth blood< on their scion comp. the tune was such a hit t&b had no other choice but to give this epic blood sucker disco house anthem the same remixing treatment as >polyhedron<. as usual, t&b remixes are all over the board from a joker-esque dubstep remix by 12th planet & flinch, a monster mash heavy bass electro remix from sharkslayer to a remix by tomas andersson, who graces this 12 inch with a smooth rolling disco remix straight from the dub factory. this is one of many releases to come from jinder, this is her first single in support of her full length record to come out in 2010. definitely an artist to watch.

its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.

played by karotte !!! with his newest ep on wagon repair (ghosts in the ai - wag058), mathew jonson looks to both the past and future to create a stunning release. track 1 - ghosts in the ai - is the first solo production that was made in wagon repairs new berlin studios. finally, in a real place to work, and with a lot of new gear to play with, mathew focuses on evoking both the future and technology to wonderful affect. track 2 - technology - comes from mathews past as it was created around the same time as tracks like octagon came out on iiwii. originally, it was going to be the first cut on his debut album that he was planning to release. on the day that mathew was looking for a b-side track for the ghosts in the ai ep, his brother, nathan (hrdvsion), played it over the phone asking him why he had not released it, as it was one of nathans favourites. it worked much better than the other track that was going to be on here so thanks, hrdvsion. track 3 - the alchemist - comes from mathews involvement this summer producing the music score for the old classic silent film faust, which was screened, complete with cobblestone jazz playing the score live, at the 2009 timewarp festival. the alchemist was written for the scene when faust is working in his laboratory then walks out into the snow to summon the devil to help with his work. a fitting piece indeed!

the model is no stranger to gigolo, and we (the royal we) are no strangers to the model. as a supporter of gigolo records, you, our fated reader, should be familiar with our protagonist previous gigolo adventure. but in the words of the late george harrison, >all things must pass< and with this in mind we would like to reintroduce...
the model doesnt just have his own sound, he has in fact attempted to engineer his own genre: dark-techno-baroque. the sound has been crafted through a penchant for aristocratic mannerisms and a passion for high fashion and low fetish. it also happens to pretty succinctly sum up part of his unique personality. set against a backdrop of refined charm, there s an underbelly of something dark and brutal, which is possibly the best way to describe the a-side >in the night<. in many ways this could be seen as a return to form for gigolo, immediately poppy but structured as a classic song with haunting vocals underpinned with a driving techno rhythm. to further consolidate the techno aesthetic look no further then >flex on the b-side and you have a pounding track that could have been played by daft punk in 96 and will probably find a home with a diverse selection of djs today.

(mix mag). the original house mix, which is a deliciously nasty reflection of the outfits sinister electrohouse sound. the rather minimal introduction is soon enough spiced up with a clash of synths that sound industrial and melancholic at the same time, thereby creating a dreamy and utterly brilliant vibe as spacey as spacey can be. it s proggy, it s electro, it s on the edge of deep house too, but above all, it s absolutely amazing. frank muellers america mix takes care of the final remix with a more uptempo and more towards progressive club rocker featuring brilliantly sampled vox, shifting synths and lots of deep sound waves. whereas the previous two tunes engage on a hypnotic trip, this one shoots the listener even further beyond the stars right into the unknown depths of space. the uptempo rhythm is what makes this track an absolute insane piece of progressive/deep house music, and therefore a definite must-have. you simply can not afford to let this ep pass you by. 365 mags absolute number one ep of this autumn, and unlikely to be bettered this year.

minuendo recordings returns back with its 15th release, the deepfathers is another super production of the spanish label with ernie and ordell introducing their brand new tracks. pure underground deep house full on body and soul in the same lines of the two previous eps grand deep auto & deep wars. jus ed, is one of the most influential and respected producers from the underground house scene and hes now the special guest. edward is the owner of the uq (underground quality) and has produced for labels like strength or fxhe and some others à the track summer breeze, is a great example of the quality of his uq.

stanley anscorm has finished the follow-up to battle beyond the sun. you can expect two epic tracks on this nearly 30 minutes record. although the tracks are based on identical compositional material, they shine in very different color. the black side is of high density and impresses with remarkable bass figures which seems to grow on the fundamental principles of low frequencies. these figures are easily carrying loads of percussions and even an orchestral set of horns which does not seem to be from this world. the white side can be understand as a lighter interpretation of the same topic and it is thrill of its own to discover the intersections between the two tracks. sure, this music is nothing you listen to in an elevator - stanleys art demands attention, there is no doubt about this - but the reward you get if you listen or dance to it with an open heart is of a kind you might never come in contact with somewhere else.

michael forzzas is one of the most important techno djs from belgium. like figure head len faki, michael forzzas speciality is to play extended sets which develop an individual athmosphere. figure 015 is forzzas first international release, and forzza sent two unique tracks to berlin, the tenor & the monkey is destined to turn the dancefloor into a frenzy. it puts you in a state of fear and euphoria at the same time. while the tenor & the monkey puts the roof of every club on fire, high on this is more cautious. the powerful groove unfolds its energy in many contexts. the pulse of the track immediate, it feels like the music is talking to each dancer personally. the tenor & the monkey and high on this don t show any effort, yet the tracks rule over the dancefloor: they both manage to focus on the essence of club music, a rarely achieved task these days.

poni hoax poppiest moment comes reshaped by chloe, one of our favourite french producer and djs. she managed to turn the original into a long hypnotic house journey driven by repetitive voice drones and cut ups and a pounding bass. deep, subtly melancholic, cold and warm at the same time, everything we love about chloe is there. on the flip side, principles of geometry exercise their passion for detuned synthetisers on the beautiful juno 106 chords of poni hoaxs paper bride, the opening track of their recent album.

these new remixes of soundwave are a special deep journey into the history of house music ! first up is >man of the deep moments< quarion (drumpoet community ) who delivers a dark and spacious reinterpretation of the original that recalls a lot of great memories of early 90s house tracks by the likes of chez damier, moodyman and basic channel. the second remix is by our good friend filippo >naughty< moscatello who was a big fan of the original track and insisted on making a remix for us, of which we were of course very honored by. you know mr. naughty from his great hits back in da days on gigolo and his production on dj hells album >munich machine< and the hit single >copa< also his >disco volante< album on the same label is a true classic ! filippo is about to make his comeback in 2009 on moodmusic with a new album ... house music in full effect

if you secretly believe that all of the best dance music has an undercurrent of melancholy then you are in for a treat. 0.5, the debut ep from the fascination movement, doesn?t skimp on either the dancefloor rhythms or the windswept yes-we-remember-new pop romanticism. the fascination movement is looking forwards, not backwards: just because this is music that adapts the same vocabulary created by bands like new order or early orchestral manoeuvres in the dark doesn?t change the fact that from the first arpeggios of ?just pretend? you feel the shock of the new. of course, you may be too busy humming along to the choruses to notice how slyly the band makes a classic sound fresh again...

another serious result from our warehouse rummaging! si begg is a man of many musical personalities, his list of aliases is impressive to say the least (bigfoot, buckfunk3000, lenny logan, s.i. futures, zygmunt janowski...). but one of his oldest, and certainly one of his strangest, is cabbage boy. in fact i confess i am old enough to remember his releases in the early 90s on cassette tape under the umbrella of the >cabbage head collective< (which also included such techno notables as cristian vogel & tim wright) - and pretty mental they were too. the lost tapes vol. 1 doesnt disappoint on that front, containing such gems as a remix of 80s pop mysteries frank chickens>we are ninja<, and an electronic cover version of >king kong< by frank zappa (ask your parents...). totally out there, but totally cool at the same time...highly recommended to anyone looking for something with some real personality amidst the hard-drives full of faceless (and usually nameless) digital fluff

this a track charged with the energy that deux has accustomed us with but also contains a melody that takes it further and will not leave you indifferent!!

same script as with previous control voltage releases, 2 x 303, 1 x 808, 1 x 909, 2 x blokes on dial and desk duty and this time guest starring a linn lm2 for that fearsome descending snare sound. this one is a big analogue party tune that just keeps on going and is sure to put a wonky grin on a bunch of sweaty faces on a dancefloor near you this summer. also, contrary to a number of reports from a few internet record dealers who seem hell-bent on driving up the price of the first 2 control voltage 12s, they are not quite sold out a source, we havent got many left but there are a few remaining for anyone that needs them

played by sebo k, karotte... layo and bushwacka! are equally at home turning out summery housey affairs as they are peak time stormers, and >now is the time / the time was then definitely fits into the latter category. a double header, the loose concept behind the release is to represent the sound of the dancefloor now versus the sound from a few years ago. >now is the time< has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. it breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring martin luther king sample that makes this record so memorable. >the time was then< is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldnt have sounded out of place on their seminal ‘night works’ album. it never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor

another full blown rave up from the label that proves that wonky can be not only fun, but also successful! last releases have all sold like hot cakes, and if you check out the tracks on here its easy to see why. quality genre-smashing bombs through and through, all that is required here is a bit of imagination. if youve got 7 zillion tracks to choose from on your laptop, why play all the same ones as everyone else? club killers everyone, from mustard gunn vs onkens humanoid esque take no prisoners to the onkens rave break attack of possession of ganja, and from the stomping hoover frenzy of lukes angers clodhopper to jerome hills hardcore sample a thon tickle the bee (a tribute).open your mind and get sick!!!
