never released before on lp, here comes the complete original soundtracks of french cult film composer françois de roubaix for director yves boisset. two movies that embody the two sides of francois de roubaix’s approach to recording. for le saut de l’ange (1971), the self-taught composer wrote an orchestration for some fifty musicians playing strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion with two distinct solo instruments alternating the main theme: indian sitar on the one hand and accordion on the other. r.a.s (1973) was recorded on a 8-track tape recorder, in françois de roubaix’s home studio rue de courcelle, where most of his 70’s scores were recorded. the result is a mix of military-march rhythms, rolls on the snare-drum with sounds of synthi aks syntheziser: de roubaix invented a modern sound for this contemporary-history tragedy.

for its third release, here to hell welcomes melbourne (via adelaide) veteran, rambl, and his incredible groover “doss”. this third release on the label happened purely by surprise, and what a discovery! the track itself is no accident, but the signing took place after a chance encounter. richard campbell aka rambl, who is one of melbourne’s best and most consistent djs since the last two decades, had developed a small cult following of viewers via facebook, where he had been providing live video coverage of australia’s wild weather in a kind of comedy-weatherman format. once these updates caught our attention, the magical facebook algorithm placed all of his content at the top of our feed.

this time best record italy presents an italo masterpiece from 1983 produced by the duo : francesco paolini (pasta dj) and alessandro novaga that became a massive dancefloor classic in chicago house with the likes of the -hot mix 5- on cult radio station wmbx and regularly played by the legendary ron hardy at the infamous muzic box. it was very influential at it s time on the early chicago house and acid movement.

180g lp (vinyl only release) in 1975, the prolific and multi-talented brazilian comedians chico anysio and arnaud rodrigues recorded an album based on the protagonist of one of their most celebrated tv series. this soundtrack/musical re-imagining of the series combines jazz-funk with samba soul and mpb, with the help of cult brazilian trio azymuth.

“madrid fue una ciudad mundial” compiles four of the most important spanish electronic projects from the 80 s. a compilation released in cooperation with a show organised in madrid last may, 18th where aviador dro, flash cero, azul y negro and esplendor geométrico played together for the very first time.
aviador dro offers two unpublished early recordings from 1981. flash cero includes an unreleased song recorded back in 1987. azul y negro collaborates with a demo version of their cult classic “la torre de madrid” from 1981. and esplendor geométrico give us a couple of live tracks recorded in 1989 for the first time available on vinyl.

orient meets occident. collector edition of jaime zenamon’s debut album from 1984 available now! zenamon studied guitar and composition in israel, spain, portugal and in various south american countries. he a was student of abel carlevaro and worked as teacher at the berlin music university (hdk) from 1980 until 1992. the album was recorded at christopher franke’s (tangerine dream) studio and features udo hanten from the cult krautrock project you. similar sound compared to cluster, neu!, kraftwerk but with stronger esoteric world music influences. nandu muley playing the santoor, a 100 string music instrument which was already used by assyrian musicians for the production of their hits some thousand years ago :) originally released on polydor in 1984 the album get’s re-released for the first time by private records in 2015. remastered from the original master tapes at 24 bit. really rare recordings, especially the 12“ is one of the most valuable and sought after german electronic records of the 1980’s.

shep pettibone - a name that commands the greatest of respect from djs, diggers, dancers and music lovers across the galaxy. a name that has been emblazoned across so many club classics that the accompanying discography is simply dizzying. the underground disco of groups like aurra, first choice and candido and early 80s experimental dubbed out club cuts of cult outfits like nv, alisha and carol williams and even the heady pop chart successes of bands like level 42, the pet shop boys, jermaine jackson and many more, have all benefitted from pettibones prowess behind the mixing boards. a true musical legend and the man who literally crafted the sounds and styles of almost 2 decades of club music back to back, shep pettibones pedigree can never be called in to question.

as ever, the next project on opilec music is one with a rich back story this time paying homage to a very specific disco scene of the early 80s: it finds label boss i-robots turning out one of his brilliant reconstructions, namely of a classic and cult track by one hit wonders ahzz. this track was first released on land of hits, a label run by peter brown (who also wrote -material girl- for madonna) and michael campbell and has now been officially licensed for this reissue by opilec music. the track, new york s movin was huge on the new york disco scene and was played by the likes of david mancuso at the loft, larry levan at the paradise garage and by nicky siano at studio 54, but continued to be a big hit with modern new york tastemakers kenny dope, dj spinna, danny krivit and his body & soul party crew well into the 90s, as well as with stars like motor city drum ensemble and bulljun. i-robots is a notorious producer and record collector with a vast understanding of the history of house and disco and his version combines an original vocal and instrumental version into something really magical. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take i) is a jangling, organic and lose limbed disco number with a funky drum line, soul in its bones and plenty of lovably rough percussion, clicks and drums. a retro and impassioned vocal line adds flair to the track at the midpoint just before that groove kicks once more. this version is featured on the new i-robots - reconstructions 2007-2017 10th year anniversary release. new york s movin (i-robots reconstruction take ii) is then just as emotive and outgoing but after the break has more of a focus on funk. this is a huge party starting track filled with feel good vibes and once again proves opilec music work on only the most special projects.
