it means >i hear, i see, i learn< in latin. its gonna be the second single, the one thats gonna accompany the release of the album. maybe not the easiest one but due to its peculiarity we all felt it was a natural choice. its runs at 152bpm, which is quite fast, but still delicate. its also the longest track on the album. an ideal conclusion for the album and for our future live shows.

after our trilogy of black-labeled records (bigbait005-007) featuring dark and rather technoid house tracks, i.a. by portable, s-max, elektroherde and peter clamat, we now start our white-labeled, hand printed 12 inch vinyl series with a raw and soulful house record featuring three stripped-down-to-the-bone tracks by lee webster and glenn astro.

for well roundeds 11th release bristols skinnz drops a trio of infectious and melodic creations that share a kinship with todays garage and funky house sounds whilst standing apart due to their unique character. you may know sam from his other alias baobinga. he is man who commands much respect for his collaborations with people from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and his ability to channel his influences in an unforced and colourful way.
on the skinnz releases so far he has experimented with more garage influenced beats, while retaining his trademark focus on percussive momentum. however these tracks often flow freely across boundaries and genre limits encouraged to evolve in any direction that creates excitement. previous skinnz releases have already appeared on pinchs earwax label and boka records whilst his debut outing was on one of the first compilations of music that might be termed dubstep – the classic >our sound< album on destructive.

the proposition is a simple one. it was a 2009 when julio bashmore first remixed >heartbreaker< from deadboys classic first release - the >u cheated< ep on well rounded.
he remoulded the garage template of the original into something more immediate, replacing the swung off-beats of the original with driving forward-rhythms and a clarity of purpose that takes absolutely nothing away from the musical impact of the original. this circulated on mp3 and we smiled and danced.
unexpectedly, in 2010 jb returned to >heartbreaker< for a different interpretation. this time around a more haunting approach was the order of the day with cross-fading strings creating a soulful, otherworldly atmosphere. the drop this time also swapped sub bass for punchy 808s. a tantalising further alternative that pointed the way to this vinyl release.

blockhead has been bringing you releases featuring tech, deep-tech, jackin, soulful, and all around funky music lately and this ep is another stellar addition to the label. we would like to introduce you to our newest member of the blockhead family >4beat club< & >jem cooke.< jem is well established pop singer out of the uk who has the voice of an angel and the tour schedule to prove it! she normally doesnt sing over house tracks but has made an exception for this release and we are extremely grateful.

the second part of the ki split series is a feature of our homegrown talents christian loeffler and steffen kirchhoff. the two friends are part of the ki family since the beginning (loeffler was responsible for the first release on ki and kirchhoff for the third). both artist have a close connection in sound aesthetics and atmosphere, since they still inspire each other every day. on the ki split series 2 you can listen to christian loeffler and steffen kirchhoff experimenting with beautiful samples and underlining the whole piece with their unique sound structure. both in their respective very own romantic approach to deep, melancholic techno music.

following on from last years dachshund skank ep by klic & article.01, we have asked some of our favourite producers of the moment to add their own slant to the originals which previously found their way into the dj sets of martyn and addison groove and gained support from bbc6 music. greymatter continues with his new love for chicago-styled synth and drum machine work-outs with his jacking take on forwards, while pixelord and the hotly tipped gerry read take the track mustard tiger in two very different directions on the flip. the digital release sees the talented new boy blacksmif and hit and hope regular naive machine add their respective twists to round off the release.

>they were from downtown, somewhere in soho and boy did they love that drum machine of theirs...< following the stellar trip down 80s lane with the bicep boys, mystery meat returns with two rip-roaring edits from soho808, another rising duo, but this time from across the pond in nyc. these fine gents have been causing an absolute ruckus over the past few months or so following appearances on soul claps social experiment 002 mix (not to mention doing an awesome podcast for soul claps acclaimed series) as well as jamie jones fabric 59 mix, berlins dikso imprint, and being featured on the wurst music ever compilation due out this fall. big tings a gwan to say the very least! here we see the chaps head into edits territory, well sorta. to call these edits is quite an understatement. soho808 give a serious overhaul to two songs of discos past, adding additional instrumentation and tweaking the arrangement big time. first up to bat is trouble and strife, an amazing, slow-burning take on one of the most famous of songs from the past couple of decades. trust us, you cant resist! flip it over for a loopy counterpart, low-slung, sultry female vox and all. mmmm, well bring our meat to suzys bbq any day!

mannequin releases on 45 rotations-per-minute seven inch single a nearly forgotten collaboration dredged and now seeing the light of day.
played entirely live in one ago and using only vintage analogue synthesizers and sequencers, martial canterel and tobias bernstrup four-hands / two voices put our minds in another dimension, in an hypotetical night-time outside, where shadows and confusion are leading the way, creating simply a milestone for all the minimal electronics music lovers.

marcel fengler launches his own label – imf (index marcel fengler) with a rich, experimental and varied 3 track ep. through his numerous releases for ostgut ton and mote- evolver, or remixes for artists like skudge or perc, fengler has built his own distinct modern techno sound. introducing the ep , setting the tone and announcing its intentions, >knavish< is a thick, textural and spacious piece of sound design that careers across the audio spectrum with stunning fluidity. like a seductive opening chapter, it draws us in, yet leaves much for our burning curiosity to discover. moving on further off-centre, the churning ten minute adventure of >hidden empire< begins its rumbling ascent in the paranoid depths of fenglers more subversive electronic language. fusing the attitude of punk with the metallic ring of industry, its lively synth play and heavy forward stomp make this a challenging and indeed rewarding find. featured on his new >berghain 05< mix, >sphinx< takes a straighter path into the kind of sensory techno that marcel is well known for presenting on the berghain floor. funky, playfully aggressive, heavily defined and certainly cosmic, a concerto of outer-space tones, static and filtered waves join the racing percussion in tense unison

torb is fabien & julien torb. two french guys from the already mytical motorbass recording studio of paris. julien is a new engineer, my faithfull and beloved assistant. fabien is building modular synths and repairing our lovely pultecs and emts in the attic. the day fabien finished the tt1 (torb technologie number one) their love of francesco farfa and their pure techno ethic collided into some magical music. we at cassius records are so proud to put their beautiful sound out. in those days of maximal and minimal war, in those days where real house music seems to attract people again on the floor their techno is a bless and a bliss. reminding me of my rave age, when the all of paris was going to mozinor to dance to francesco farfa, armando, yayo or the ur guys until the break of dawn, i couldnt resist to ask them to grant us with a splendid ep : mars premier. i have nothing really to say more than that, and those who know me will understand that this thing is serious. peace and happiness zdar

ten months after vidabs last output, we are back with the debut solo release of our good friend tomas svensson. some may know him as a half of berlin duo subbroomassociation, or as the former live drummer of >schulz & söhne<. tomas started his interest in techno/house during his studies of jazz drums and piano at the udk in berlin, and ended up building his own studio to realize his vision of sound using mostly analog equipment. the swedish native delivers here two tracks that fit perfect the mood of his home country with its huge forests, clear lakes, and wide landscapes. swedish techno with with a detroit soul. enjoy!

mosso is an intimate project, born out of the natural desire to present ones work in ones own home. it is a private space in which the artist picks and displays his own favored pieces, enabling an unconstrained and harmonious blend to unfold.alejandro grew up in mendoza, argentina, and has been producing electronic music for over 10 years. following the use of various aliases, funzion being the most celebrated one, he decided to pursue his experiments under his real name. this was a simple decision, made possible through his creation becoming the honest rendition of his very inspiration. alejandro mossos music is the humble exploration of the ample musical heritage our planet has to offer, side by side with an ever-expanding and personal definition of the electronic medium. the first record inaugurating this series stands as the perfect example for his intent, bringing melodies and instruments of the world together with sophisticated technique. instantly awakening the soul, ohrwurm and caracoles come together to form one giant leap of optimism. indeed, alejandro mossos tracks build into a sheer heartening experience. as a shamanmesmerizing his attendance, alejandro brings the listener along into his own reverie, temporarily suspending time and filling space with wonder.

there are a number of producers who are known for being prolific, roska, cooly g, benga to name a few, and now gerry read can be added to that list. the cambridgeshire producer has only a handful of actual releases to his name, but a vault of hundreds. we can well imagine his hardrive straining from the sheer velocity of ideas that he sends our way. raw, urgent and frequently off kilter, gerrys production challenges your ears but always manages to lock in the groove.
