warren harris did a sterling job on his first outing for perpetual rhythms as hanna, and he s back for round two. things are just as deep as you would hope and expect, with harris unique take on the detroit house formula present and correct on the cleverly executed -lake shore dr.- -parallel- finds him exploring his penchant for snagged, off-kilter rhythms matched with deep house delicacy, and -gold coast- takes things into lounge territory without ever sounding insipid. therein lies the magic of hanna, and beautiful experiment -khords 1- is on hand to finish the ep off as a statement of just how special and unique harris music is.

following a succesfull 2016 with his well received eps golden tides,sunlit forest and one of our fave releases bahia, joe offers up four cuts for pleasure unit. continuing the producers passion for new age , paradasical ambience and dreamy deep house,lead title -jacaranda skies- might be what telephones and met mr heard would of sounded like had they met in rimini circa 91. a dusky atmosphere provides the backdrop to ecstacy inducing chords,an elevated brass sequence and afro percussion driving a tight groove. mangrove dawn is an aural quaalude hit, gentle synth washes fold over each other,while nature sounds buzz through a distant 303. the lost garden opens to a reverb soaked slide guitar and soaring pad section before a jaguar snarl gives way to subtle kick pattern atop m1 chimes and bali bells. skies reprise closes off the ep with a beatless take on the original, the melodies given more space the sonic equivalent of open air swaying under hazy pink skies.

after his appearance on born free records, rollerboys recordings, and rett i fletta, johannes wilkstrom aka yourhighness contributes to cocktail d amore music with stratofortress. the berlin based imprint gathered techno guru rrose, born free records owner samo dj, and international japanese wave representative gonno, to offer an ep with a wide range of interpretations of the title track. the original mix is an acid based, industrial influenced techno banger. highly energetic, for sweaty late-night dance floors. on the same side samo dj transforms the techno blaster into a funky ebm ballad, characterized by a deep male voice and a breakbeat groove. rrose is on remix duty on the b-side. stratofortress suddenly turns into a dubby, everlasting build up, that eventually implodes in the depth of a black hole. closing the ep gonno offers a slow-mo rework. deep and very cinematic, this remix will please every cosmic hole connaisseur.

portuguese artist ka§par gives parisian label escapade its third release. the four tracks span across a wide range of electronic sounds, telling a story that calls on many emotions. ‘wail of a loon opens the record with an experimental atmosphere. after this laid back introduction, ka§par goes into a much stronger style: ‘riggeds energy and catchy, twirling melody make it a total banger. on the b side, the mood gets much warmer and groovy. ‘vital is the perfect tune to warm up a dancefloor, thanks to a swinging rhythm, mesmerizing vocal samples and funky synth lines. ‘alma douro rounds up the record with strong jazzy vibes. beautiful chords and piano solos never dissapoint!

following the reissue of his cult album ti jan pou velo, hs decided to continue their collaboration with edmony krater and record a new album! the first one in 30 years! comes with insert. as an avant-gardist percussionist, singer and trumpet player, edmony krater has always worked to develop and promote the gwoka music of guadeloupe and to feed it with different influences, from jazz to reggae.

uk dub pioneers alpha & omega (greensleeves / a&o records) represent the foundation of uk soundsystem culture and bass music. formed in the 1980’s and with over 30 studio albums to their name, a&o have not only left a lasting legacy but are continuing to do so via collaborations with some of the most established names in reggae, underground artists and newly discovered talent alike. a&o s brand new studio album one by one is a nod to the classic a&o sound yet illustrates a&o s forward thinking and distinctive outlook on reggae music. another a&o classic, and well worth the wait.

recorded while gerald was in jamaica working on a project with lee perry in 1980. the master tapes of the four tracks that were recorded at the harry j sessions were only recently discovered. utopia was the only track that had been given a final mix back in the day. it was released on 7- on the black star liner later in the year and then reissued on partial records in 2014. the other tracks were never mixed until early 2017 when this task was undertaken by dougie wardrop. as well as mixing jerusalem (gerald did a later version of this tune for rej forte s jah works label in the early 1990s), working for the dollar and constant spring , it was decided that utopia should also enjoy a fresh mix.
