when umek introduced his moniker zeta reticula at the beginning of the century, he got the following review: *sounds something like a cross between basic channel style minimalism, anthony rother electro bliss and ummmm.... umek and his crazy synthetic chords and razor sharp production.* his sound has changed since, but it seems like he is not immune to some nostalgia. electro nostalgia to be exact.

dj ralf is the italian icon who runs the much loved laterra recordings label and management, and is now back with ‘er suonone’, a new track from margot that is all set to be a late summer smash. anyone who has heard the legendary dj ralf (a cult figure who has been the subject of a documentary, has played all over the world, runs his own legendary bella ciao party and holds a cult residency in cocorico) play recently will most likely have heard this track in his set, and it has been an unknown but much loved secret weapon for a while now. as such this one sided vinyl pressing will please many people who have been hunting it down. margot, of course, is an italian pair of accomplished producers who have released on, les disques de la mort, hell yeah and border community and run their own margot records label. ‘er suonone’ is a pumping, deep, slow burning bit of cosmic house that builds and builds and teasers listens without ever releasing the pressure. monstrous kick drums drive it down below, pixelated stabs add suspense in the distance and icy hi hats slither in the foreground. it’s the sort of track to drop right at the peak time and it will surely go right off, with people fist pumping along to the groove.

ok, we are quite slow on releasing records, but here is our next release on film. we stumbled upon the artist on a reseach for a music video - in the end we didn t discover a video director, but denial.of.service, an artist in many fields including music, video and performance art. as he ist active since the early eighties, he was involved in numerous projects, doing productions, remixes and videos for and with artists like david bowie, attrition extrawelt and daf. if you take a closer look on his artistic activity since the early 80ies ever then you will quickly realize there is a whole universe to uncover foald from around this artist. our suggestion: start with this fine ep, featuring a hidden secret artwork that unveils in the dark.

our third to last release combines two driving forces of contemporary techno: homegrown benjamin damage is joined by truncate, a deadly combination for any dj s bag. ben damage s -battle- sees him layer his hyperactive grooves over a thumping kick with a small but effective acid line topping things off. truncate s -86- is a massive track dave sumner aka function previously used in his -berghain 07- mix, obviously serving as one of the highlights in there. it s creeping synths build up to a climax in typical truncate fashion, with huge, compressed kickdrums pounding the dance floor mercilessly

velly joonas is a mysterious singer, who once wanted to become a soul singer, but later choose folk music instead. frotee has released two recordings of cover versions from estonian radio archives, both tracks have estonian lyrics written by herself. in 1983, she recorded an incredible version of i see red. few years earlier she recorded lovely version of classic feel like makin love-. both previously unreleased, now available on 7inch single!

this is the birth of b00m jack s new baby my dear friends n freaks... being asked to describe the 22 year old german musician kolja gerstenberg - one possible answer could sound like that he might be the lost twin brother of jamie jones (but it s just one among many other suitable answers) the youngster and music student (he s studying drums at university) kolja is a total opposite of the typical modern-music-scene-kind-of-guy as he sticks to his passion, which is house music in it s classic disguise like 20 years ago. kolja is not interested in following hypes or trends. what he loves are raw & dirty us house like trax or disco house flavoured tunes with loads of jazzy smell and glitter all over. kolja is and will stay real & authentic by keeping this behaviour. he is not aiming at superfi just for the higher potential of success or money or fame . . .

teenage jesus and the jerks began to formulate their visionary brand of aural catharsis sometime during the first half of 1977, amidst the sordid ruins of a then fully down-and-out lower manhattan. the mastermind behind this juggernaut of sonic libertinage was a barely pubescent but world-weary runaway who called herself lydia lunch.

one of the coolest techno labels at the moment comes with another fine release. not the standard 90s loop techno inspired tracks but nice smart raw machine driven house/techno hybrids full of warmth and energy taking us on a journey to the higher echelons of the dance floor. recommend!

2015 has been the year that moon harbour turned 15, but rather than focus on the past, matthias tanzmann s label has continued to serve up fresh future sounds. the next artist to do so is lewis boardman, a long time uk talent who has released on a clutch of fine labels in his time.

cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn’s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it’s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does come around. while the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. come around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. a great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the sideways lp trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.

machine soul is a documentary film about finnish electronic musicians. it is a glance at the methods, rituals and philosophy behind the music, but most of all at the burning passion that drives the artists forward year after year. machine soul tells the story of finnish electronic music scene from the artists point of view. the documentary is accompanyed by this limited white vinyl 12 inch release.

sing like a bird (reprise) is a fresh version of the track originally released last year on peter van hoesen s time to express label, to which shuttle fans will have become familiar with in recent sets. it maintains the original s hazy reverbed flavour, but in the form of a more groove-oriented and psychedelic edit that sidelines much of the original s vocal track in favour of a snake enchanter-like synewave melody, for a less lyrical but equally musical new take. the b-side back here is an older track that shuttle has been holding back for a while, waiting for the right moment to reveal this atmospheric, melancholic and melodic track, in which intricately delayed layers of piano keys progressively unfold through a rich percussive background made of 808 rims, deep bass kicks, heavy toms and jazzy hats and rides.

made by mark imperial & vinnie devine as laurent x, machines was conceived in a 16 track studio with an unquestionable roland tb-303, but also a tr-808, tr-909, a juno 106, some fx and a bucket of rib tips. according to mark imperial, he and his friends (specially vinnie devine) had a mad fun playing with gear.

jesse calosso is a bronx-born dj and producer, part of a tight clique of new york artists that includes such luminaries as the martinez brothers and filsonik. 2015 has been a busy year for him. not only has he completed a mix-tape style album as masters at dutch with the martinez brothers and blas cordero, but also his tracks serving size and whatever right now appeared on the tuskegee ep the come up vol 1. he has dj-d at output in brooklyn, circoloco in ibiza and at seth troxlers acid future party in london to name but three. now, he releases a brand new four-track ep called the incoming on cutting headz.

with a career stretching back to 1998, via releases on dance mania, juke trax, blank mind, and planet mu, everyone should know dj clent by now. crosstalk actually unleashed his first internationally distributed tracks via dj slugo’s subterranean playhouse label, and we are excited to have acquired the rights to distribute all the beatdown house releases, worldwide. dj roc aka the crack capone is another artist who’s first international releases were disseminated via our digital program, we also distributed various juke city mix cds. his break came via his album on planet mu, and has also had a recent ep via duck n’ cover. dj t-rell & c-bit are relatively unknown, internationally, but have been active on the chicago scene for at least a decade. you’ll find their tracks on local mix cds by slugo, deeon, and clent, among others.

northside ‘82 is proud to welcome smart bar resident savile to the label for our second release. entitled suffer play, this three track ep imagines an alternate reality where minimal house takes an extended detour through chicago, strapping on the city’s famous jacking percussion for a more robust but equally razor sharp sound. “spaced” opens the record with a jolt of jacking house, pairing a limber bass line with tense percussion and pinpoint vocal samples. “1pm morning” is inviting and warm, a richly crafted environment lit by by resonating bass, wallpapered with sharpened guitar strums, and decorated with jangling percussion and clavinet accents. closer, “recipes from nowhere”, is the dreamiest of them all, letting melodies bubble around the track’s bass line backbone and swaddling listeners in melancholic pads. altogether an exceptional record from one of the city’s brightest young.

vinyl only release, born and raised in constanta, home of the legendary la mania club, sepp was influenced by electronic music’s finest sound from an early age. step by step he rose from the ranks not only to become his city’s most beloved dj but also a la mania resident. production followed quickly and quickly came a few releases for uvar, body parts or andromeda. now it’s time for a new challenge and it appears sepp is here to serve. catren is the name, sepp is the game ! sepp’s work is usually a bit minimalistic and super organic and this ep is no different. crampei de balad starts a little broken an creepy only to develop into a super casual dance track. with the kick in comes the synth that will only be eclipsed by the occasional vocals. dance !
glass din stele is the serious one. the steely organic feel present in so many of his works is on. dark strings, piano, ample reverbed spaces and a super groove come together into a ultra deep track that echoes the artist’s fundamental influences. petre inspirescu and ricardo villalobos, probably, if we have to guess.

having issued a mini album from fuxa earlier this year, stuart leaths tireless emotional response welcomes the detroit band back to the label with an album recorded alongside neil mackay of loop fame. apollo soyuz was originally released digitally earlier this year via bandcamp, but you can see why leath would want to license it for a proper vinyl edition. the eight tracks form an exploration of the outer cosmos that is tinged with a deep psychedelia that will resonate warmly with fans of emotional response. from the space funk of the opening apollo soyuz, fuxa and mackay lead the listener through galactic kosmische, spatial ambience and primal tape loop experiments and more with testz 1 a considered highlight.

where to now? records are proud to welcome back space afrika, following their long sold out debut release ‘above / below the concrete’. this four track 12” ‘primrose avenue’ can be seen as a continuation of the themes and ideas explored on that debut, but pushes the manchester duos palette of scorched inner city soundscapes, considered field recordings and rolling dubbed out techno dread further than ever before.

one sided 7inch color blue. with one track... probably french only can understand the joke. its a song from gainsbourg called le poinconneur des lilas transformed into the partyguy from les lilas. kind of an anthem for free party guys. a bit like the one night in hackney, but in a free party french version. as the sound was nasty we went and cut this properly in a decent studio, and sound is really amazing compared to the you tube version. a superb little collectable tune. enjoy!

for the fifth installment in the common thread series we are launching our series of various artists eps called *knives replace air*. for the first effort in this series we have the likes of chinaski, mangulicafm, 33.10.3402 and gitchell moore cooking up stuff. expect an odd mixture of genres all sharing a common thread in terms of feel. maybe not the most dancefloor friendly record but definitely some kind of miniature soundtrack in its own right.

on side a you will find two classic tech-house tunes but yet dark underground. the single track on side b is a long travell slowly changing it s acid theme, more experimental & minimal than we are used to hear from tilliander.

once again the dutchman from the north boris bunnik (who actually resides in rotterdam now, but that aside) is showcasing his magic fingers, this time on shipwrec s deep techno offshoot deep sound channel. hinterland is a topnotch ice-cold but heartwarming submarine electro/techno album with distant hints of idm, in other words the perfect soundtrack for the long midwinter nights to come.

with the two fellows enrico sangiuliano & frankyeffe from italy gregor tresher again proves his talent to discover great new artists for his label break new soil. enrico s releases on drumcode and secret cinema s gem records and franky s tracks for flash and trapez were already high quality documentations of their exceptional studio skills but combining forces pushed their output to another level. peaktime techno at its best.

after a long time, rhadow and ntfo finally met in the studio again to work on the next edition of sintope s slagare series. but not just another regular session... the romanians went fully analogue for a couple of days without phones and computers - just drum machines and instruments. the result is slagare vol. 5 and comes with two tracks in a very limited vinyl only edition of just 300 copies. so better be quick.

for moon harbour s next top tech house trick they invite studio and dance floor wizard marco faraone to serve up two great originals and then have santé and mathias kaden remix them to perfection.

dka starts the fire with his endless no hope. a track that has exactly the right amount of everything. jens bond whispers the lovingly crafted insae, it could mean madness but why does it sound so good rafaele castiglione & praah musique are 10.000 km afar from each other and teamed up to create the mind boggling ayahuasca ceed. debuts here and brings us the perfect soundtrack to get lost in. endnight is light and darkness at the same time, a stroboscope of emotions.

great techno release with inigo kennedy rmx & headless horseman the past years have seen yacoub chakarji and irakli kiziria exploring vast range of different directions spanning from deeper tracks to more utilitarian music, but always with originality. this time the berlin duo return on the label fracture with a playfully mental cut that gets remix treatment from two of the most interesting techno artists in recent times. termination hits a striking balance between functionality and an almost deviant quality. in the hands of inigo kennedy it becomes splendid atmospheric techno, while headless horseman makes it more explosive and sinister for his first time on remix duty. music for the more daring selectors out there

his career began in the mid 90s as part of 1st down, which consisted of phat kat on vocals and jay dee on production. the group was short lived however, possibly because of insufficient support/promotion from their label, payday, but the two continued to collaborate on many occasions afterwards, starting with an appearance on fat cat song and its remix, from slum villages fan tas-tic (vol. 1).
