alex ferrazzi and matteo keemani a.k.a. blue mondays, longtime laterra friends and collaborators (with releases on sonar kollektiv, rebirth, snatch!, memento, manocalda as well), strike again. they do it, as usual, their very own way: shades of balearic flavours in there, but with a very dark and malicious twist. marvin & guy add some disco nuances (keeping it raw and obscure, though), while nick anthony simoncino delivers a solid, strict, gloomy dancefloor affair. no frills, mad quality.
house maestro uovo, of pastaboys fame, and fresco (one of the most sought-after sound engineers in italy) have crafted a killer sonic spiderweb. be it the evil and edgy acid mix or the slightly unsettling and poisonous retro mix, their “king khan” brings your emotions where they should be, while on a dancefloor. an outer, bittersweet space.after the mighty “er suonone”, by margot, dj ralf’s laterra label strikes back with another perfect, powerful gem.no human beings were harmed during the making of this ep. the following were manipulated: roland 606, roland tb 303, roland 808, roland 909, akai mpc60, acetone, nordlead2, moog little phatty, maschine, native instruments, ableton live, doepfer system a100, dark energy, arp 2600.
playfulness, this is it. take one of the world leading jazz trombone players, gianluca petrella. take one of the brightest emerging talents within the european jazz scene, gianluca guidi. take a mad scientist of percussions, leonardo ramadori. take the flaming club culture charisma of dj ralf. take the mixing and recording studio mastery of fresco. let them meet – it’s a bunch of people who are true masters within their own field. and let them play.
dj ralf is the italian icon who runs the much loved laterra recordings label and management, and is now back with ‘er suonone’, a new track from margot that is all set to be a late summer smash. anyone who has heard the legendary dj ralf (a cult figure who has been the subject of a documentary, has played all over the world, runs his own legendary bella ciao party and holds a cult residency in cocorico) play recently will most likely have heard this track in his set, and it has been an unknown but much loved secret weapon for a while now. as such this one sided vinyl pressing will please many people who have been hunting it down. margot, of course, is an italian pair of accomplished producers who have released on, les disques de la mort, hell yeah and border community and run their own margot records label. ‘er suonone’ is a pumping, deep, slow burning bit of cosmic house that builds and builds and teasers listens without ever releasing the pressure. monstrous kick drums drive it down below, pixelated stabs add suspense in the distance and icy hi hats slither in the foreground. it’s the sort of track to drop right at the peak time and it will surely go right off, with people fist pumping along to the groove.
