manchester s very own mr scruff and nyc crate digger ge-ology remix moscow s lay-far! now that s what we call a truly international release. it s kind of a dream release for us at local talk as both scruff and ge-ology have been on our we wanna get them on local talk plastic list for quite some time. starting off we find scruff going for a slight disco(ish) rub where analogue synths bumps around with a dark but musical basement feel...but still jazzy! on the flip our man ge-ology who is riding high on the hype from his release on theo parrish s sound signature label goes on a deep and spaced out electronic house venture that is so edgy it hurts. its that good good shit basically...enjoy!

scottish party crew jelly roll soul (responsible for giving the likes of kyle hall, specter, funkineven & jay daniel their scottish debuts) celebrate their 5th birthday by getting in to the record game. their first release comes from london based scot, sirrahttam with the out there house wanderings of his tanz ep.

deep space orchestra wet the lips with this sampler release from their forthcoming, eagerly anticipated new album. featuring two tracks from the album and 2 remixes from neville watson and the lord of the isles. a fantastic taster of what to expect from the debut lp.

for 07 ruff draft enlists twins who turns in a dark, dystopian, club sound scape that hits all the right spots. hayworth is another alias of a well known producer to us ruff drafters, here he creates a track with an intro that teases and teases you before the beat drops and things get all sweaty. cottam digs out some acid from the hard drive, an old forgotten about track that finally gets a release.

the bush is a homage to the place where i have lived for the last decade (askew road). the askew road itself is slowly changing so i wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or tescos. first up was peckings studio 1 record shop, which has been on this stretch of road since the 1960s. next up is the mighty sun pub which became a local talking point when they sold the place because a sign sat in the window that announced this bup is close.

fatdog records returns after a break, offering contributions from 3 artists new to the label - the rutan, tom mc connell and mark hand. fdr003 offers a development from the deep house template on the last ep, this time taking us further into deeper detroit territories. mark hand offers us drexciyan techno in the form of cold feet. the rutans fable sits somewhere between vakula and some of henrik schwarzs earlier dub-house experiments, while fat dog takes us to the murky back alleys of his mind with jaffa cakes. finally tom mc.connells juniper takes us into wonkier groove rhodes stylings which rounds off the ep very nicely indeed. support by john heckle, afrikan sciences, lay-far, enrico (neroli), sonars ghost (2000 black), burnski, wolf music

new yorker elliot taub graces this 8th kinfolk release with 3 trax of varying intesity. do that dance is an uptempo melodic bass and synth heavy dancefloor jam. thirteenth roll in a bakers dozen takes a slower spaced out route. 10 dollars conitnues in the same mode but this time with guitar and a super heavy synth line pushing the driving force along and finally soft rocks grab a hold of 10 dollars and turn it into a john carpenter-esque electro groover.

the man behind the end of level boss label, cyclonix, delivers 2 club tracks just the way we like them. already tried and tested in the clubs by our man cottam, who fell in love with the tracks on first listen. they demand to be played in the early hours of the morning in dark basements from nottingham to leyland and beyond. label boss cottam takes over the b side with a leisurely walk back from the supermarket taking the scenic route for no apparent reason.

3rd release of downbeat black label, the sublabel of downbeat. the owners of the label, jose rico, urtzi and f-on present us two long slow motion tracks with field recordings, whirring melodies and voices from beyond the grave. two dense experiments which show us the less kind side of downbeat and continue along the path opened up by *solaris*. only 200 copies pressed.

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.

miguel campbells outcross recordings comes correct with a new release from tboy. london based but hailing from italy, this is tboys first ep for the label. aside from his solo project tboy collaborates on a regular basis with london based trio wildkats - a project that has pulled out one ep on neim records (to be) and another ep on akbal music (be an example) plus the track denied on featured on jamie joness hot waves volume 3

magic feet are gaining momentum after the superb tommy awards ep, and welcome timothy j fairplay to the fold for their third release. fairplay is a rising star of the uk underground and recently opened proceedings on bird scarer, the new vinyl-only initiative from andrew weatherall, with the sprawling cosmiche flecked brilliance of >the final reel<, and has also contributed to the output of astrolab and world unknown. fairplay has little interest in making functional dance floor records and delivers four cutshere that plough a distinctly epic path through post 100bpm electronic music that is framed by both cinematic and musical references. limited to 300 hundred copies only.

the title track finally is a solid piece of driving music with layer upon layer of hypnotic acidic filtered lines washing in and out throughout its course sitting over a deep groove

introducing damien zala... the next promising young frenchman to release on hold youth. although relatively unknown, his first album *lonely happiness* received strong support from theo parrish, norm talley and luke hess amongst others. combining analogue synths and drum-machines with acoustic elements and samples from old records, the trained sound engineer is a rigorous technician aiming to create sophisticated deep house atmospheres. hold youth provide a breeding ground for open-minded and innovative music, and zalas second life ep ticks all the right boxes. exploring sounds from a broad spectrum, *ms blue* is the moody opener that creates a melange of raw minimal jazz, while the b side continues in this vein with more of an obvious off-key german micro house influence. *considered done* references the late herbie hancock, sampling his voice over a flowing piano melody and punchy bass line, while *tribute to willy simon* goes all out funky, full of brass, with a classic hip hop swagger.
