the new album from danish electronic trio system is a special kind of collaborative effort with piano magician nils frahm. his purpose-built improvisations on synth, organ and piano served as source material for the members of system (thomas knak, anders remmer & jesper skaaning), who merged his warm acoustic tones with their minimalist digitalism and set out to translate their distinctive clicks ’n’ cuts electronics into vivid soundscapes. over two years in the making, the resulting nine tracks are as sonically intriguing as they are touching. ranging from the mellow bliss of the title track to echoes of 90’s and 2000’s electronica and ambient sequences frequented by mesmerizing movements and sounds. the blending of piano and digital tones and noises into emotive pieces might instantly recall the work of alva noto and ryuichi sakamoto, though system and frahm come to quite different results.
dear human survivors, while the story of grounded in humanity is coming closer to its glorious end - there will be 3 more releases before the final showdown of humanity vs. human clones - the birth of our spin-off label human insurgents is taking shape. the first chapter, a 11-track album, is written and told by phat lord - who is also known as leader of the human resistance, trying to put an end to the brutal regency of the clones. phat lord is a true legend of the underground and his origin and location are totally unknown, even for the largest part of the resistance. some say he may even be a clone himself…. the album is a sonic trip through various mental states and dystopic landscapes. it is a result of 8 years moving below the surface and often in the dark, to avoid discovery. he worked with simple, analog methods, focusing on the true essence of sound. we recommend a setting that allows for deep listening and proper bass support.

anders trentemøllers career is a travel-heavy one, with his touring schedule taking him pretty much all over the world. but its his home port thats inspired his latest project, the sprawling, stunning compilation mix ‘harbour boat trips vol. 02: copenhagen. clocking in at just over an hour long, the compilation sees trentemøller curate and craft sixteen songs into a heavy, hazy mix that ranges from shoegaze to electronica, featuring both familiar and celebrated artists like a place to bury strangers (with a new trentemøller remix) and slowdive to more obscure finds, as well as trentemøllers own tracks and remixes, most notably a brand new trentemøller cover of neil youngs classic ‘transformer man. the mix sees him pick up a thread he left off earlier in his career. in 2009 he put together ‘harbour boat trips - 01: copenhagen, a compilation mix comprised of his favourite music, both danish and international, from across four decades, loosely inspired by the motion and movement of copenhagens busy harbour. closing in on a decade later, were getting the second edition, with ‘harbour boat trips - 02 arriving this november.
THE LAPSE OF THE EXCHANGE / ALONE MOVING OFTEN (2CD)
the act of escaping that which is predestined. / a hustle. reto a ichi is a sonic tabula rasa for guillermo herren aka prefuse 73. there are identifiable elements of the artist you already know - an uncanny sense for rhythm, an ability to shape samples and frequenci- es like clay, an affinity for the subtle changes of repetition - yet this is first and foremost music born from the need for silence. there is no easy entrance point or index for the listener.
almost 2 years after the success of the album the tony allen experiments and a few months after the release of the 7inch amore, nu guinea return to the scene with a new lp published by their newborn label ng records. after touring the world looking for sounds suitable for their vibrations, nu guinea decided to go back to square one, napoli, where massimo di lena and lucio aquilina were born and raised. they watched their city from a distance reconstructing its energy from their studio in berlin, calibrating the synths on the meridian of vesuvius, the volcano that has always protected and threatened napoli. nuova napoli is the result of a long musical research that has become a historical investigation on the sound that shaped napoli during the 70s and 80s, starting from the contamination of genres (disco, jazz-funk, african rhythms) which ended up in nu guineas dna. in this album the synthesizers fill the spaces between the past and the future, tightening in a single body acoustic instruments, electronics and voices in neapolitan dialect

the prodig s seventh studio album, no tourists will be released on their take me to the hospital label via bmg. in a career approaching 30 unpredictable, uncompromising years, the prodigy have become that rare artist whose influence can be felt across all walks of life. continually defining (and re-defining) electronic music, the band have clocked up a staggering 6 number 1 albums, played to many millions around the world, and remain as relevant and respected as ever. though much has changed in the musical and social landscape, what remains a constant is the prodigy s resolute focus on following their own path, their own way. this, perhaps, is the true meaning of no tourists , and in 2018 the anger, urgency, and irrepressible spirit of the prodigy has no doubt never been more needed

it has been eleven long years since urbs dropped his last album which was called “toujours le meme film”. back then, the musician, dj and producer created the soundtrack to a fictitious film noir, which was released on kruder & dorfmeister‘s g-stone label, but after touring europe he almost completely retreated from public life. he does not consider his creativity as being his career, but rather as a part of his life which rarely is subject to concrete planning, and that is why urbs quite consciously took his time to create his latest –untitledalbum.
terence fixmer’s path through the changing techno landscape of the past 20 years has been anything but direct. indeed, the french born producer, musician and planete rouge label founder has long been influenced by the periphery of continental european dance music subgenres from electronic body music, new beat and acid, before combining them into his own pioneering hybrid of futuristic, ebm-inflected techno with classic releases such as 2001’s muscle machine or the collaborative between the devil lp with nitzer ebb’s douglas mccarthy as fixmer/mccarthy. while the sound in recent years has been rediscovered and recast in diverse contexts by a new generation of producers, through the cortex sees fixmer gravitating toward a different kind of industrial-tinged electronics, led as much (or more) by analogue sequencers, melodies and ultra-saturated sounds of synthesizers than drums and percussion. across eight tracks at a compact but varied 40 minutes, the lp touches on an aesthetic hinted at in recent ostgut ton releases (2016’s beneath the skin ep and 2017’s force ep), revealing a sonic narrative through noisy, screaming synth/vocal riffs with a jagged, guitar- like post-punk sensibility.

righteous expensive: motohiko hamase’s 1986 album “reminiscence” scores a decent prize at online vinyl selling platforms and it is worth each coin! it’s a perfect “refuge from nasty reality”, as the glorious british 20jazzfunkgreats blog once said. and it comes from a man that knows his trade: bass play - an artisan on which he also already wrote many theoretical books in his more than four decades long career.
due for an autumn release on far out recordings, rasif sees amaro freitas take a deserved step onto the world stage. from the afro-brazilian maracatu born on the sugar plantations of slavery, to the high intensity carnival rhythms of frevo and baião, amaro s heavily percussive approach to jazz is as indebted to these pernambuco traditions as it is to coltrane, parker and monk.
ah! kosmos das ist ein beständiges wunder, in dem wir hier mittendrin stecken. beim hören ihrer tracks bleibt immer wieder nur stauen. den soundtrack zu love & awe spielt seit einem halben jahrzehnt basak günak, sound-designerin, produzentin und multi- instrumentalistin aus istanbul. auch auf ihrem zweiten album „beautiful swamp“ verbindet sie elastische bis hart knisternde percussions mit melodischen soundlandschaften. dabei gehören der universalismus der musik und persönlicher freiheit untrennbar zusammen: tief im gewebe ihrer tracks aus downbeat und deep house, aus türkischen klangtraditionen und exotischen revieren stecken auch Ängste, glück und düsternis: günaks musik fängt auf, was sie in ihrem leben zwischen istanbul und berlin verarbeitet und überwindet. den hörenden bleiben so nicht nur soundscapes zu erkunden, sondern vielschichtige, emotionale kosmen, die mit jeder neuen klangschicht ihre widerhaken ins hirn schlagen. lovely mystical electronics! the french trio evergreen (previously name we are evergreen) grew up listening to pop music from the us and the uk. yet, like many of the most influential artists of todays french pop scene (fishbach, halo maud, etc.) they value both french and english to deliver their message. this new album ‘overseas was recorded with ash workman (françois & the atlas mountains, metronomy, christine and the queens), and see the band use a warm sound loaded with synthesizers and draw influences from the likes of django django, air or metronomy to craft percussive electro-pop songs.
the music contained in this album invokes the vibes and spirit that were so crucial to much of the music recorded during the 1960s & 70s in jamaica. if you talk to the musicians and singers of this era, they will tell you that the driving force behind the songs they created was the sheer love of music. this is one of the reasons these recordings are so powerful and move listeners to this day. music like this can only be made by those who were schooled in the studios and yards around kingston and is not something that can be easily reproduced outside jamaica. the kingston all stars represent some of the most legendary musicians to ever grace the little island & it is thanks to their passion and dedication that we have a lifetime of music to enjoy.
steiger are a piano trio trying to find a balance between composition and improvisation through the use of experimentation and electronics. the trios highly anticipated sophomore album give space was recorded at 7 different locations, with the music composed to fit and fight these locations within a dialogue of acoustics, atmospheres and appetition.
poolside began as a recording project in a converted los angeles backyard pool house in early 2011, producing sunny tracks of subaquatic indie dance music in this makeshift recording studio. surfacing first in the form of a youtube video for the catchy track “do you believe?” poolside were soon gaining local and national attention, with djs like james murphy of lcd soundsystem, techno legend derrick may, and disco don todd terje spinning these tracks at events and a growing online following. throughout 2011 poolside continued making waves with a sound called “daytime disco” through tracks like their cover of neil young’s “harvest moon” and original tunes. in 2012 poolside worked on a remix for longtime disco punks the rapture and held fans over with a new single and video for a song called “slow down” as they prepared to release their debut album. that album, pacific standard time, was self-released in july of 2012. after the album’s release, remixes for artists like matthew dear, little dragon and fool’s gold soon followed, as well as rehearsing and touring with a live band and doing dj sets around the world. as thoughts turned to a second album, poolside went on ice for a year to regroup, beginning to work in earnest on another album in the fall of 2016. while still revolving around the sunny, laid-back disco sound of pst, these sessions yielded the additions of up-tempo dance songs and more guitars, and generally more fleshed-out arrangements. poolside surprise released their second album heat in 2017. poolside have over 1.5 million monthly listeners on spotify and have fans all over the world. they are currently on tour as a live band.

unplugged vol. 1 is the first in a cd series by ssaliva. the first one contains 11 synthetic vignettes, a very stripped back affair, much more then we are used of this ever so elegant master of layering and kingpin of the lighter kind of electronic lasagna, digesting the latest flavors long before they get stale. not on this one though. these are more skeletons of pop songs, bare and glassy, played on a fake nylon-stringed koto for an imaginary court of internet angels. digipack in silver pantone with black 500 pcs
after a bunch of succesful, module blasting releases by german-based label struktur, it is time for another physical one. for our first compact disc, we aim at giving you a fine selection of predominantly analogue techno in all its varieties by artists from all around the globe. for this special treat, called -black circle-, we compiled 12 tracks by exciting producers for you to discover. the sounds range from more industrial, spherical and hypnotic compositions, like taken out of one of william gibson s dystopian tales, to completely overcharged, circuit-melting monstrosities, that might just leave you speechless. if you are a connoisseur of analogue sounds and well structured pieces, this is for you!

wrwtfww records is over the moon to announce the official reissue of legendary album ki-motion by japanese percussionist midori takadas mkwaju ensemble, sourced from the original masters and available in two versions: a vinyl lp cut at emil berliner studios and housed in 350g old stoughton tip-on sleeve, and a digipak cd. a highly creative and transcendental fusion of marimba, vibraphone, bamboo percussion and synthesizers, ki-motion was recorded in 1981 and captures the birth of midori takadas exploration of minimalism, african rhythmic tradition, and ambient music. the album takes its conceptual inspiration from the tamarind ( ‘mkwaju’ in swahili), a drought resistant tree notably used to craft some of the first mallets and marimbas but also known for its culinary and medical uses, an essential symbol of life and identity for the central african grasslands. drawing from the regions culture and music as well as the crucial notion that rhythms represent the very fabric of life, midori takada leads her ensemble into environmental heaven to create one of the highlights of her recording career and an absolute must-have from the golden age of japanese ambient the ideal companion to her majestic through the looking glass opus!
