live from concrete island is the debut album from brighton based producer stephen maskell, aka the nags head. taking material from the last four years, he s created a head-spinning tapestry of melodic techno and crushed cityscapes. like echospace, maskells destroyed visions nail the feeling of being a stranger in a strange land. for the city s lolloping, dubby percussion we reach deep into its guts, pulling out a squiggly bricolage of pistons, pool balls, window frames, jets of steam. in turns rasping and narcotic, concrete island s beatless sections are akin to the crunching menace of early clark, or murcofs cosmic space treatments. an occasional shimmer guitar pop gem emerges from the rubble.

amsterdam based artist and creative technologist andeh lang is back on will & ink. after debuting on this label in august 2016 with an uncredited black label, he now serves up three more tracks that show off his interest in shaping and sculpting sounds for the main imprint. all these tracks were created with his own custom made software and self-programmed audio algorithms. three experimental techno excursions that go by the name of susskind showcase a wide variety of deserted techno landscaping by a creative mastermind.

london producer bxentric releases his latest ep sakura fall . this is the third release from his own label nanda records, following the well-received patch valley and chrome eps. prior to launching his own label, bxentric released on eskimo recordings and glasgow underground. in november 2015 patch valley was included in maceo plex s essential mix for radio 1 and was supported by the likes of barnt, job jobse and bicep.

it was in june of 1980. after a long and intense journey through time and space, rupert marnie met spiritual highness frater loannis and became his apprentice. the magus told him invaluable things, like controlling his precious bodily fluids and the holistic mastery of others’ endocrine glands. the greatest wisdom though reached him on his seventh day, when frater loannis professed him an an-cient ritual that would allow him to meet the titan ufohagen, also known as cdboy. it was the 4th, when he appeared, dressed in a long, slim silk cloak, a sprinkling wand in his right. rupert stood in awe, immediately losing his newly gained fluid control, and started crafting a piece of music, that would remind mankind that not all is lost, as long as there is almighty ufohagen.

repress - unreleased early algerian synth electronic by ahmed malek, compiled and co-produced by flako. in the early 1980s, ahmed malek was already in his 50s, when he discovered synthesizers and electronic music for himself and started to experiment with sounds. the result was a mixture of ambient synth music, field recordings he made in cuba and a wide variation of different sound experiments that he also presented as different avanguarde music festivals in cuba and the us. none of it was ever released but we got a huge box of master tapes from his family and we re happy to present this different side of ahmed malek s music. it was compiled and co-produced by flako, a fan of early electronic and synth music. this is not a remix album though, flako s aim was to create an album out of 2 hours of material that sounds like it might have if mr. malek would have finished it himself before of his death. fully approved and licensed from the artists family. the album comes with an informative booklet with liner notes, an interview with flako regarding his approach towards the production and unseen photos. we will also release a third album by ahmed malek which will be more in the vein again of the music he is known for and this album will also be previously unreleased.

life garden was formed in phoenix, arizona during the fall of 1989 by george dillon, su ling and w. david oliphant. the group was the reinvention of post-industrial band maybe mental (1982-1987) and delved into an ineffable territory, where language failed, their music found root. yogi says tip! life garden s sound focused on creating a space that would transcend people to a world of beauty, intensity and mystery. each release was loosely guided by one member, caught between the tapestry of silence and beauty (1991) was focused towards the poetry and vocals of george dillon who sadly passed away after the completion of the album.

minimal hypnotizer with pacman & cesar merveille

the first release on doble bilder is curated by the duo mørk, formed by emanuele pertoldi and francesco devincenti. pareidolia ep tells the phenomena from which it takes its name, that is a subconscious illusion that makes us see forms and recognizable objects in amorphous structures surrounding us. the ep evokes three pareidolia phenomena through sounds assembled live with hardware and recorded on tape.

man of war is a significant sonic progression for the band. opening track gaia sets the tone for the release perfectly. heavy, brooding bass and glitchy, synth stabs create an imposing sonic backdrop for tom’s menacing vocal to hang on. lead and title track man of war is driven by its propulsive beats and more washes of bass and eerie electronic touches. fall crocus finds the band in contemplative mood. a heavy, regretful air hangs over the track and brings to mind the work of international superstar and mercury prize winner james blake, who the band has toured with, as well as mount kimbie and ghostpoet previously. final original cut cosmos pink is perhaps the album’s most touching effort. cloud boat have always been a band capable of inducing sincere emotion and this release is no different, taking the listener on a powerful, cathartic journey through life’s big issues. remix wise, the release features offerings from phaeleh and la – 4a. each act brings its own distinguishable flavour to man of war. phaeleh’s version features his trademark, cinematic, take on house electronics and is a typically atmospheric effort, while la – 4a takes cloud boat in a modern techno direction.

with a pair of sturdy releases behind them already melbourne s short black crew call upon lesser-known talent rustal to deliver the goods in a deep, techy style. before the original productions dub maestro brendon moeller drops in to deliver a version of -privilege- that heads into the echo chamber and doesn t let up for the duration. it s a powerful, immersive beast of a track that provides a fitting alternative to the uptempo, melodic thrust of the original version. -forwards backwards down- pushes the chords to the front of the mix and jacks up the drums for a proper fist-shaking workout.

vent is revisited by an old friend, bringing visions and prophecies of times to come. arbiter’s message is bleak and machinistic, telling of a future where objects and subjects lose their boundaries and entangle. pockets of resistance will never give in to the oppressive powers that be, and will dance to the never ending percussive rhythms and melodies they worship. the revolution is not in sight for them, but never forgotten.

the purpose of dm001 was to create a versatile compilation of tracks with the idea of exploring the limitless boundaries of electronic music. for the labels first release it was fortunate enough to work with an array of talented producers from all over the world. each of which has their own defining sound. dm001 is a non profit release, both vinyl and digital, with the digital release containing more tracks. all profits made from this release will be donated to the international rescue committee in efforts to aid syrian refugees.

laura jones unveiled her new label sensoramic in may with sam and karousel cutting the opening tape in appropriate style. for the second release laura delivers her first ep since 2014. after taking time out to experiment in the studio and refine her style, the why question marks an evolution in the uk producer s output delivering two incendiary underground club cuts ably remixed by trevino and u-more. two veterans working under aliases, trevino is of course better known as legendary drum n bass producer marcus intalex who has more recently found a home for his 4/4 output on klockworks, the nothing special and his own label, birdie. u-more is italian veteran and berliner, ivan iacobucci, fresh from releasing on apollonia and a slew of underground minimalist labels who delivers a late night acid laden afterhours workout to compliment trevino s big room counterpart.

vaghe is a man of few words. he wanders, seemingly endlessly, through a lonely, gargantuan labyrinth of concrete and steel, fighting off ghosts and other futuristic nightmares, searching only for something called the full stream ahead. who is this quiet, determined man and what are these ghosts he seeks? the small communities he finds tucked into the crevices of this towering, dystopic ruin hardly give him leads on his treasure, driving him to find larger enclaves of civilization where people can reveal more about the world he lives in and the quarry he seeks. if vaghe is going to find the treasure he seeks, he will need more help and information than the inhabitants of these beleaguered outposts can offer. he needs to find a larger cluster of civilization, but he’ll have to survive the trip to get there, first… following his 2014 ‘sweet sixteen’, and his 2015 ‘abstract speed + sound’ other people is pleased to announce the full stream ahead: the prologue by turin’s daniele mana aka vaghe stelle. previously associated with italian label gang of ducks and a current member of production group one circle with fellow nationals lorenzo senni and a:ra, daniele’s roots in the emerging italian production scene run deep and place him at its center.

the next alien jams 12” is from rkss, entitled cutoff ep. these four tracks were recorded in 2014 within a period of two weeks, using a juno-60 and vermona retroverb lancet. perhaps their most dance-able release to date, cutoff interweaves aquarian dream-like electronics throughout soggy percussion and glistening chimes. propelling the listener forward, rkss churns through water-logged signals, while synths cut through in gusts of euphoria.

if you love contemporary minimal music, then you are certainly familiar with the greek artist stathis leontiadis. with his bands human puppets, exetix and plexiglas this musician became one of the stars of the genre. now he is back with doric. with this solo project he already released a single and an album on fabrika and a 10- on domestica. the new release is once again a 10-, this time on peripheral minimal. doric uses a special concept. the a-side is the so-called asleep side and is about loneliness: music that sounds paranoid. sleep of reason is almost unbearable, it s madness driven by minimal electronics. everything is very danceable, but this is the dance of madness. the minimal sound comes straight from the 80s. over my dreamssounds a bit like the early parade ground. simply great! head against the wall (a title that needs little explanation) is slow and compelling.
