gu (glenn underground) pays tribute to armando gallop & earl smith jr better known as armando & spanky on acid saga 1. the legacy of gus 303 can be felt in these latest tracks with bubbling acid lines seeping throughout both spank n gallop & peaceful rage(acid revenge).

for the second instalment, &#22806,,&#31070,,&#30000,,deepspace takes us down from the neon skyline to the hum of surface drones and tesla waves seeping through the circuit boards of the megacity. it’s the slogan for our new robot overlords as we punch into cellular devices. the gradual seeping of billboard acid frequencies into the bloodstream as mutants whistle out from ventilation shafts. a hazy bygone recollection of biological matter as we sink into concrete, junk and mechanical s&m.

the third release on the society of silence label offers 2 new tracks from the french duo, and remixes from london based ivvvo and italian duo die roh (aka sagats and dj octopus) rounding up a perfectly crafted analog techno and raw house ep. the opening track « 8th » with abrasive percussion, fueled by atmospheric synths, followed by «first section » a crawling beat, tape sounds seeping in, surrounded with twisted synths.b side remixes by ivvvo submerges us in deep exploration, with throbbing minor melodic keys and whispers, the remix of die roh a stirring groove with analogue warmth.

bedlam isrc – asylum limbo, psychotic sock draw and raving halfway-house ... some truths – man as samovar, staunch somnambulist, man as memory…aural yves klein seas sluiced from a flotilla of ohm-loan bugbrand & electro-harmonix vessels ... a sound accrued by loitering long at skipjack tables & tape duplicating plants ... the joyous melancholy seeping from this lps patched folk o ertones has been a reassuring cloak for me since its porous ones & twos dripped into the mm inbox. an album you can wear whose universal backstory is told deftly via these gilt-edged electronic daubs without sugar-coating – there is none of this soundtrack to a film yet to be made clotting up the ear canals…a basking shark of an album that gently filters the ill from the krill. some truths are bigger than others.

vin sol & matrixxman return with their second double-header of remixes of one of the most distinctive voices in modern music, revisiting two of the hallowed songstress classics from the 80s. first up is the beautiful *never thought* which has been given the remix treatment many times before due to the accapella being on the original 12 inch. here vs & m add early 90s house flourishes - warm pads, deep chords and the original vocal seeping in and out of the mix, whilst elements slowly start to build up for what is a pretty ecstatic house rework of a classic. simple and effective. fans of innervisions wont be disappointed! on the flip, *love is stronger* is a mellower take on one of her signature hits. sticking to a cool 110 bpm tempo, it has got a bubbly, woozy late sunday afternoon vibe emanating from the first 4 bars. another solid rework from the vin sol & matrixxman camp!

our leader unveils yet another facet of his production arsenal, this time turning a housey cheek, courtesy of sa ensual, yet chopped-to-bits vocal. the jacking rhythm section skips along in pure style, keeping the tight bassline in check while frantic edits help i need you to fully unfold. stefano noferini nods to the old school in this double outing, and furios blasts out with a nostalgic bassline and intense beeping action over a crackling rhythm section. the title track goes for more heady territory with a hypnotizing vocal seeping in and out of the cracks, while the trademarked noferini groove keeps the bubbling subs in check. the undisputed groove don, dj pp, graces 1605 with revolver amo & navas beef things up even more with their crunchy rhythm section, and opt for a dubbier vibe with their trademarked stomping groove and spacious, low-end percussive magic. dj fronter leads us into another bouncy ride with the percussion-led cntrl and next taking the lead and rolling out into action

on >work that shit party<, a fingers inc. style rhythm buttresses a two-note riff, a crackling male voice filtering in from the ether. a pinging keyboard zips around before that two-note flicker expands and contracts, warps and wheedles. but around halfway in, a female vocal refrain of >gonna work it out< breaks fat lacerations into pinholes, blaring keyboards seeping in through the gaps and crevices. then, as with >d117<, it is the congealing of all these disparate elements: a work it out from fischerspooners lizzy yoder sashaying with the two-note riff, the keyboards bouncing off the ceiling, and flaring hi-hats fraying the surface played by pat mahoney (lcd soundsystem). each portion is given its due, only to make the ensuing combination that much more enthralling.

nice price deal !!! hallucinating, mechanical, and dark, spatial techno from three legged race. the wrong element ep solidifies robert beattys recent mind bending live performances into proper physical form: a 12 inch extended play record. the high voltage lines of slum moog and brick 808 define the all saturating sound seeping from the black lead earth of lexington, kentucky. the mastery of tension and release found throughout beattys work with hair police and burning star core is here crystalized into a rich and daunting psycho-physical techno fit for the club and the basement. listen with the lights off.

as house continues to take its stronghold over techno, even in berlin the epicentre of all things minimal, we gear up for a summer of ‘actual’ dancing over regimented arm pumping and head nodding. having impressed laurent garnier, m.a.n.dy, solumun, karotte, tg (tim green) and ellen alien last year with his collaboration with enzo elia, martin patiño caught the attention of true to form with his fresh, playful approach to house and techno and hypnotic percussive elements .born in italy, but with south american roots and now living in berlin, you can hear vibrant audio recollections seeping onto every groove. citing dali’s surrealist paintings as another creative reference (a nod to which is contained in the track title ‘the tempation’), you could say martin draws on the atypical compared to your average electronic producer.the result is the blissful simplicity of ‘sundays’ on the a side, percussive, sundrenched and a perfect am terrace lifter.on the flip side is peak time tech house groover ‘the temptation’ and a hypnotic, dub heavy remix of black dahlia (the original of which will appear on the digital only release) produced with long term cohort enzo elia. true to form, now in its 5th year, showcases tracks and remixes from such respected producers as pan pot, gavin herlihy, jesse rose, samim, pascal foes, mikael weil, justin maxwell, claude von stroke, subjekt, tom ellis, leif and more
