its a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you re drawn back to again and again, wondering how you ve never heard of them before. porto producer pedro, & washington dc vocalist jenna camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty wolf music recordings. the influences from jazz though to soul, rnb & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. you re drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, rnb infused groove. having pulled you in float hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside jennas float mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. reaching the last section of the track though you re woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving. keep it h 2000 , the final track on the a side, has a real flavour of fatima to it emanating from jenna s blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums. flip it over and there s a tougher intensity to future dance (it ll be ok) , coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn t be out of place lighting up the floor at a co-op night. to close out the e.p. you re given a sensory overload through jenna s staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle its the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. and if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, pedros name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come. support from afronaught (bugz in the attic), bradley zero, henry wu, lefto, atjazz & osunlade
bror records and jens records proudly present a gothenburg-strong collaborative effort with brorx1/jens009. on the a-side jens records mainstay pontus björland delivers “limits” with love karlsson on industrialesque vocals. a raw, distorted machine workout with an acid undertone.
bror records curator dj lily ups the pace with an energetic remix of “limits”, making the most out of its original dystopian atmospheric elements, presented at a steady 132 bpm.
the b-side holds the undisclosed gothenburg duo quackpac with the deadly and stunningly executed late hour excursion “earthquack”, measuring in an impressive 16 minutes (hint: don’t miss the last minute).
imagine cocoon would be a big international football club chris tietjen would be definitely one of the talents coming out of the clubs very own player development program. and he has been pushed step by step to this point to stand on his own feet.
this session deluxe is made by our french friends jules & moss. these very sympathetic guys are one of the french artists revelations of 2011. their tracks, released on great labels like traum, dirtybird, supdub, musik gewinnt freunde, brise records, what! what!, monique musique, fantastic friends. moss possesses a funded, classical piano education and composing skills, first approved in alternative and new wave. on the other hand, jules grew up with rock and jazz, started drums at the age of 5 and improved himself by playing drums and percussion in several bands. together they develop several “live act” with electronic interfaces & electronic drums, playing them own productions, with wishes to compose with sound recordings by themselves or acoustic instruments. now they present four great, deep and catchy tech house tracks. all tracks are well produced and having a big groove. jules & moss are using a lot of different elements, some more housy, then a bit minimal. that completes a great package with four original dance floor tunes. the remix is made by berlin s jens bond. jens is well known from his releases on highgrade, sender and many more famous labels. his remix is a real bomb. a bit more straight on than the original. vocal snippets and classical house elements are giving that tack a very special mood. great job by jens!
after blasting onto the hospital map with their first single – >all fall down / breezeblock< – camo & krooked are back with another couple of brilliant balls-out belters in the run up to the release of their album – run riot – later in the autumn.
riotous and rowdy as ever, this double a-side single shows the breadth and brilliance of camo & krookeds sound as well as showcasing two of the uks hottest vocal talents.
oliver huntemann already presents the 14th release on his dance electric label. but his release policy is far from being predictable or boring. with jens mahlstedt and andré winter he presents two long time dance music protagonists for the first time united under their real names. both started their careers back in the 90ies, and both delivered stunning production work, before there was ableton live and before there were software plug-ins. these 2 tracks on dance electric prove that they are still ahead of time. these dark and floor-rocking electro trenched tracks are spiced up with bits of melody and incredible arrangements. everybody fasten seat-belts – this is a hell of a comeback...
border-breaking album by international collective featured shawn lee - london based american producer/composer/musician - and the soul surfers - heaviest russian soul/psych funk band. the result is boundless soul and psychedelic funk music from the future. deep in raw grit and musical exploration. this album crosses both: genre, age and world politics. it proves that music is truly the international language and it’s not where you’re from, but where you’re at.
bruno pronsato returns with his new album, a face wasted on the theatre, written & produced in collaboration with the israeli musician, yonatan levi.
pronsato and levi have been collaborating intermittently since 2014, with levi adding bass guitar to tracks on both pronsato’s us drag lp from last year and 2016’s ndf ep, cruel is the color, as well as contrabass on a track on pronsato’s archangel lp from 2014.
written in the afternoons and between two different studios in berlin’s prenzlauer berg, the album spans eight tracks, with yonatan levi playing on bass guitar on six of them. it also features guest appearances by downtown composer/producer peter gordon and israeli saxophonist yonatan yudkowitz on “bring me a kill.”
the rawest, diy gospel ever resurrected. the west side of chicago was just an annex of the deep rural south for gene autry cash and his flock of recent old dominion transplants looking to cut their fiery, unadorned sounds indelibly to plastic. his jade label absorbed those god-fearing artists: family bands with wailing kids and barely amateur groups sourced from local parishes, infused with reverberations of country and western and deep soul. glinting authenticity shines from every track like a diamond in the unpolished rough—each group completely convinced that salvation comes through song.
somewhere in between fact and fantasy there lies a place where sweet soul music can exist in perfect harmony with rolling drum and bass. connecting the old to the new, the rough to the smooth, the soul to the groove. this song is a dedication to all music lovers.
for this second release the new parisian label street knowledge choose to produce two young native italians djs. peter jd and francys met in a small city in the south of italy, both evolving on the music scene since they are 14. peter is bringing the detroit house music touch whereas francys the 80s 90s music sound. from this collaboration is born the connection ep. where two different worlds find each other in a common space, connection ep brings different ideas of sound at the same time, by one side following a dry techno line with pumping drums and solid grooves, by the other side warmer and deeper, crossing hypnotic detroit flavored synths, chicago house, organic elements and chromatic female vocals. to make this release totally international jenifa mayanja from connecticut and the greek quell are delivering two remixes that should make a bomb effect on all the dance floors.
hold on tight cause here comes a game changer, jen & ed edj 001 delivers a first for the couple best known as dj jus-ed and jenifa mayanja. the two producers team up to deliver a rousing two tracker that cuts right to the chase. the a side features >dark matter< from jen which is a high speed baleraic dancefloor smasher with an old school tribal feel. >slammer< by ed grabs the dancers by the hoofs and never lets go with its addictive chants and stabs throughout the groove. this release may be considered controversial for some but for jen & ed its just another day at the office. edj recordings is a sub label of uunderground quality / bu-mako recordings

its looking really good for the 2010 edition of green & blue festival. the location and date have been established and friends and electronic music lovers worldwide have massively copied the popular date into their agendas. in the end langener waldsee is the only location that can compete with the beaches of the balearic islands. full of enthusiasm steve bug and chris tietjen have released the first official soundtrack, and this is done with a musical exclamation mark!

lucidflow make a ninth journey onto wax with label co-owner nadja lind s tribe dub , and no punches have been pulled with the array of top drawer remixers on board - featuring brendon moeller, tigerskin & jack jenson, and terry lee brown jnr. nadja s original fires on all cylinders with a frantic sub-bass assault that isn t going to be happy unless your lungs have been thoroughly bruised by a main room s speaker stack. as the bass tumbles, phasing dub stabs gracefully arc into the stratosphere and back again.
