heavy afro boogie 12- by cameroonian-born singer dick dickson. 2nd release of beaumonde.. keep an eye on this label! . he was clearly aiming for the us funk sound in fashion at the time when he recorded in the pocket in 1986.the session took place in togo and had band members come from congo, cameroon and the french west indies making the music of in the pocket an outstanding rendezvous between electrified-boogie and african influenced groove. with the help of régine féline’s sensual voice, melodic synth pads and distinctive slap bass, in the pocket grabs you instantly. totally overlooked upon its release, beaumonde felt that dick dickson’s unique offering deserved a second chance.

more talking all that jazz, more high aiming music by fumio itabashi: mule musiq is ready to release another record by the legendary japanese jazz pianist, born in ashikaga, tochigi in the year 1949. this time his first solo record ever: the heavy jazzing “nature”, which has never been reissued on vinyl since its birth in 1979. it has been recorded at nippon columbia 1st studio, tokyo from march 13 to 15 in the year of its release.

iron curtis is back on hudd traxx with the second installment of his lights ep. much like the first round that dropped earlier in the year, the man like johannes paluka is on sterling form, dealing in the kind of refined yet earthen, deep but punchy house music hes built his name on to date. spectral is the consummate opener, deft piano chords and rock solid drums with additional dubby fx pulsing through the mix. well well well is a sunnier affair aiming for that euphoric terrace moment, while see ya brings a rough swing to the party with a cosy, intimate line in soulful sample licks. l&p finishes the ep off with a warm, acidic bassline and more of that deep diving beatdown business.

after 2 first eps in 2016 on voxnox & arts digital, the young berliner talent opål comes back on the new swiss imprint bipolar disorder. the silem ep demonstrates opål’s ease to encompass both energetic, raving, or deeper techno style.

introducing klorin, a collaboration between kenton slash demon and norin, also known as the lead singer of swedish synth-pop trio lust for youth. their debut ep noncompliance floats inbetween industrial hypnotic techno and dark ambient, created in a number of early morning sessions in kenton slash demons copenhagen studio. we were fascinated by the idea of combining something that was almost primal or tribe like rhythmically with an atmosphere that felt tecnologically advanced and futuristic, aiming to capture a feeling of being detached from society in an industrialized, achromatized and modern world.

emotional especial comes together with future nuggets for a -special- one-off collaboration. reinterpreting the music of steaua de mare are four remixes from rising (eastern) stars khidja and mehmet aslan. the first in a short series of especial -specials- - where new artists are brought together for unique releases - we start by teaming up with future nuggets to present again the sonic offshoot in the unique band, steaua de mare. returning in remix form, songs from their self-titled album, as well as extra additions, are specially reworked. first khidja take album track babadag to new psychedelic depths, adding multiple layers of guitar and synths, all inexhaustibly dubbed and re-dubbed until a whole new track emerges for the more discerning minds. next mehmet aslan is focused on the dance-floor, carefully reconstructing new track shop into a club orientated groove, aiming straight at the feet with inevitable results. on the flip, mehmet then reworks album highlight, doamne ce greseala am, amassing tension in careful, subtle ways, crafting a version that is a proper meeting of hearts and minds. to finish, khidja return to remix the previously unreleased 1 septembrie. going to great lengths in managing a myriad of details, with balearic, kraut, pseudo-disco and exotica reverberations all pulsating, here then are on point examples of remix manipulation. a perfect way to start this series and showcase these wonderful artists.
