there is no doubt that the native detroiter jeff mills, as >the wizard<, put his own mark on the cologne psycho thrill club-nights and thus the entire west german rhine area in terms of techno in the years 1991-2007 through his innumerable appearances in the cologne clubevent institution. mills track >mosainga<, which was given to claus bachor in 1996 for publication on his own label, also played a significant part in this well beyond the 2000s. in 1997 for the first time (unofficially) released in advance via roland caspers essence label on a >psycho thrill ep< white-label limited to 500 copies, mosainga finally appeared remastered in 2004 on psycho thrills own >motor city dayz vol.1< (ptne 2111) compilation including a dj-friendly bonus loop and then finally made its way straight into the clubs of the world. the track then received renewed attention beyond its natural decay value in the cologne bnkr years (2011-2016), which were deeply shaped by psycho thrill itself for colognes nitelife, in which the cologne label completely redefined the entire techno culture of the dome metropolis in its own way 2 be propelled forward once again.

1per customer , repress from the debut album from slovenian act videosex. while little known outside of the former yugoslavia, videosex’s self-titled debut album from 1984 sold in significant numbers, making superstars of the young slovenian musicians responsible for making it. the set not only helped turn yugoslavian teenagers on to the possibilities of western-style electronic pop, but also inspired them via satirical, often explicit lyrics. their debut performance at the novi rock festival in ljubljana lead to an immediate contract offer from slovenia’s biggest record label. it wasn’t long before the band were holed up in studio top ten in ljiublana recording what would become their debut album. they effectively moved in to the studio for days and weeks on end, clocking up well over 200 hours of recording time in which they mixed experimentation with a desire to polish each song to perfection. the result is their first album which includes nine songs touching a variety of sexually charged subjects including erotica, lesbianism, voyeurism and sadism.

the disciples were formed in 1986 by brothers russ and lol. together they played a significant role in the uk dub scene and produced some of the most distinctive instrumental dub music in that era, which shows significant influence in todays dub music. they were given the name by jah shaka, after producing exclusively for him.

the legacy series is a showcase for artists that have been with the label for a long time or are a significant or part of our history. each legacy release has new remixes, unreleased material, remasters and will be either a single or double vinyl with a single or double cd. alk-e-d’s legacy ep is a thing of beauty, both musically and visually. the record comes shrinkwrapped, and the sleeve has a spine. all 4 remixes on the vinyl are superb, pushing the boundaries of hardcore and displaying the qualities of alk-e-d’s original tunes while maintaining their integrity and bringing them to a whole new level.

antoine harispurus was raised by a robot called v.i.c.t.o.r. the robot took care of little antoine and early on he gave him music lessons and also the right equipment, for example a roland 808. robotic, mechanical precision became significant for antoines music and soon he left the safety of his mothers toy store for the huge european club scene under his new pseudonym golden bug.
this year he releases two songs as a 7 inch vinyl and in digital format on hoga nord rekords. the a-side, “viaje a tenderloin” sounds like the inside of an east german military liaison in 1975 where the tabulating machines haven’t had service since the raise of the berlin wall. on the b-side “hitodoma”, guest vocalist jessica ho plays with her voice in a bubbly way above golden bugs characteristic metallic, world music influenced sounds and beats. the music would fit perfectly in a vast alien mountain landscape.
in conclusion, the music on this 7 inch is the sound of human and robot in close symbiosis - golden bug is music by robot and human for robot and human.

it has been exactly ten years since finders keepers records first liberated lubos fisers immaculate soundtrack music for valerie and her week of wonders (valerie a týden divu) from the vaults of the barrandov studio in prague. as the inaugural release of an ongoing discography of previously unreleased scores from the hugely creative film miracle that occurred during and after the czech new wave (cnw), this score will always retain a special place in the heart of the label as well as our listeners who consistently request an updated repress of this significant vinyl milestone.

exactly one year after their sold-out debut album zest, die orangen (aka dreems & kris baha) are zurück! malka tuti and die orangen have concocted a double dish, a two part remix package, saft 1 & saft 2. the first part consists of a new live version of the track yaranabe, recorded in a live session as part of the duo’s infamous analogue live act. a2 is tapan’s remix of metal man. the poem-not-poem is taking shape as a low bpm banger when tapan’s heavy signature kick meets those trippy vocals. this is tapan’s first track to be made after finishing their debut album last year on mt, and its an interesting evolution of their sound, slow dark and punchy, yet with these vocals and bassline, also a catchy post-pop track for the later hours. on the b-side lies gordon pohl’s reimagination of mersey river (aka “the platypus track”). the tracks “epic-, long slow ambient opening and evolution into rhythm resembles in many ways the psychedelic collaboration works of the late pete namlook & move d on namlooks own fax records, which was always a significant influence on the malka tuti world.

mathias schaffhauser, founder of german label ware records debuts on third ear with a 3 track 12inch. this is big-sky, expansive, driving techno even the beatless version of grad minus 12. mathias schaffhaeusers ware records had a very recognisable sound. it was one of the defining labels of the cologne sound, most associated with kompakt these days. but in the 90s and early 00s, ware was as significant a label, especially for djs. this release is very much a good example of that sound, still sounding fresh and bristling with good energy.

following on from the release of fba21 collected works 1996 -2017, which was released november 2017 matthew puffett decided to wrap up the project, with a handpicked selection of artists to remix key tracks from the compilation. amongst these figures are some significant influences on puffett s early years the set includes kirk degiorgio, whose reworking of ‘cross dissolve’ reimagines the track in full machine mode, serving up a slab of driving techno for the main room.

timeless legend are a soul group from columbus, ohio. their “synchronised” album from 1980 is one of the rarest rare grooves and both original copies and the single “i was born to love you” currently sell for over £1.000 a copy. for rsd, love vinyl in conjunction with expansion bring you an earlier 1979 single “everybody disco” (itself worth over £200), a remix and “i was born to love you” on a 12” single limited to 750 copies. the remix of “everybody disco” is by the mighty zaf & phil asher who command major respect from the current disco scene and have transformed the song into what will become one of the most significant disco style dance releases of 2018. this is the first and only time for these tracks on 12” single.

jonah sharp & dj spun pair up as the loose control band to drop a punk-inspired single on rekids with remixes from label founder radio slave and shut boss ryan james ford. having released a large body of work as spacetime continuum (astralwerks) or alongside david moufang as reagenz (workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of terence mckenna, haruomi hosono and bill laswell, jonah sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. his seminal label reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by nine inch nails, meat beat manifesto and matthew herbert. meanwhile, jason drummond has long been a commanding force within new yorks electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious warm up music series or his all night rong parties with regulars like dj harvey. hes also been djing and producing as dj spun for two decades, appearing on golf channel recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint rong music, which used to release music collaboratively with dfa. i dont understand sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst drummonds turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. staying faithful to the original, radio slaves remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody bassline. moving into techno territory, ryan james fords akihabara remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his hope remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the originals piercing vocal.
