2 years ago this producer was approached by miss kittin to remix a track of his choice, from her recently completed solo album. for various reasons, these mixes have never seen the light of day, apart from sporadic airings in said producers dj sets. now, finally, these unofficial remixes are released lovingly, on vinyl only, in a finite number, with the permission of the kittin herself... btw, already played by dxon

after a string of releases under different pseudonyms, shades is truly excited to announce dan white’s first release under his own name, simple pleasures. influenced by the lush melodics of early kompakt releases, the playful grooves and all-out pop sensibility of dusky & booka shades output, and the edgy, detailed electro of pioneers like the the hacker and alexander robotnick, this bold four-tracker of emotive tech-disco is progressive & modern, yet packed full of feeling.

the white man & the arab – an uneasy pairing of minds designed to deliver dancefloor bliss via the medium of limited 12s – is ben micklewright aka blm (of fear of flying / underground quality fame) and souhail zaatari aka soho (of phonica / etc fame). together they been secretly labouring away in the studio and this four tracker is their first joint outing.

ok, first of all i want to reveal a myth: these infotexts are mostly writtenby the labelowners themselves, not by hard-working editors. so what happens, when the guy behind a label releases his own music? well, either he is a well-organised deadline-machine and he asks somebody capable of doing this stupid job, or he realizes:

this ep marks a newbeginning in my career. since some time now, >the fog burns off< and we get more and more stable in the buisness. last year we were on the road quite a bit and we found many new friends. people from other cities, who believe in the same things, who do similar stuff and who are of the same kidney as we are. so that makes me very happy, which reflects in the music. for the first time i feel like coming home, although we are at the beginning of our journey into the industry yet.
