for their 12th label anniversary, jazz & milk have decided to launch a new series called “twelve inch jams” in order to celebrate vinyl culture and the legendary 12&#8243,,, format! jams002 sounds the bell for the second round of the series including a 10 years re-issue of the classic sam irl cut “you don’t feel enough”. originally released as a b1 tune on his “african dance ep” debut on pulver records in 2007, this jazzy house gem found its way into the record bags of many influential djs over the years. from session victim, glenn astro, max graef to hodini… the record never disappeared in club sets but certainly from discogs a good while ago. so it was about time to give the tune a second life and finally press it on the format it deserves - a whole 12&#8243,,, side. the german production duo session victim are well-known fans of the track describing it as their secret weapon playing it in quite many dj sets for years, including their 2015 appearance for mixmag’s dj lab. hence, it is a great pleasure that session victim contributed a remix to the new release. their absolutely elegant and groove-driven version with a charming 90’s touch to it makes a brillant counterpart to the original with its jazzy piano-, drum- and double bass samples leading to an epic synth break that regularly causes ecstatic moments on the dancefloor.

next up on bucharest’s raw tools label is börft co-founder, johan sturesson, also known to be part of the swedish electronic trio, frak. the four-track ep consists in music from the private vaults of the producer, that has been kept secret for almost 20 years. rough and gritty, his analogue approach and stripped down sound define the record. starting with the rave sounding “uncle owl” and then moving to a more darkly atmospheric title track, kord shows his muscles on the flipside with some more techno infused and bass driven dancefloor cuts.

leon ware s self-titled 1982 album has long been a holy grail for rare groove record collectors. indeed, mint copies are rarely found for less than £100. so be with records, a new vinyl-only reissue label, is pleased to mark its first release with ware s classic â&#128,&#147, a set that features the timeless why i came to california, a beautiful example of early 80s soul funk. a truly unsung legend, leon ware has written a stunning variety of classic soul music over the course of six decades. he joinedmotownin the late 60s and became one of the label s key writers. his most indelible contribution at motown was marvin gaye s masterpiece i want you. ware s production and songwriting memorably took gaye to another creative level. despite recording a handful of critically acclaimed solo albums for motown and elektra, including this one here, he has remained a secret to many outside the music industry. be with records hope this timely reissue goes some way to rectifying that.

the next ep on just this comes from octual, an established figure on the dutch underground techno circuit. his 3rd release to date is an exploration into melody and beat composition – a journey through uncharted territory. “jupiter’s moon” presents a fleeting view of different landscapes - claps and hi-hats depict the lights and shadows of a sublunary word. “untold places” reaches an otherworldly place where rhythm and metre counteract each other and obscure sounds sway us in and out of reality. amsterdam based electronic pioneer sterac provides two remixes, analysing and repurposing the molecular details of octual’s productions. his first rework of ‘jupiter’s moon’ provides a stunning and heartfelt view, exploring the intersection of each artist’s approach. for the dub version he reveals a darker sentiment, creating a dancefloor oriented secret weapon.
